10-year-old investigated for race hate crimes

British police are investigating 10-year-old Jake Stedman for a race hate crime.

The investigation was put into place after a 35-year-old unidentified Slovakian woman (keeping the identity of the minor a secret apparently was never thought of) chased him around an alley, hitting him with an iron bar and sending him to the hospital.

Little Jake, though, is the one facing aggravated assault charges!

Police are considering charging a 10-year-old boy with a race hate crime after he was beaten by a Slovakian woman with an iron bar.

Jake Stedman needed hospital treatment after the attack in Chatham on Friday, when he was allegedly beaten around the head and neck after being chased down an alley, and was left with two black eyes.

But police are now looking into claims from the 35-year-old woman who allegedly attacked him and who is currently on police bail, that he made racist remarks by telling her "to go back to her own country".

If charged with racially aggravated assault, Jake, who has only just reached the age of criminal responsibility, would become the youngest person in the country to face a race hate charge.

"It is very early stages but we are investigating whether the boy should face any charges," said a police source.

"There have been allegations that he used racist language and it is necessary for us to investigate the claims."

The incident occurred as Jake and his friends were playing outside a local convenience store when a group of four Slovakian women passed by.

The boys allegedly called out to the women and threw soft fruit at them.

See, in moonbat-infested Europe, the woman who assaulted a child and sent him to the hospital is the trustworthy one. The child, on the other hand, needs to be punished with a charge of racially aggravated assault?!

Thing is, police don't know that Jake even said or did anything to those women -- it's still being "investigated". So why isn't this woman being locked up?

And even if Jake did tell them to go back to their own country, since when is rudeness equal to beating someone with an iron bar?

Yes, Jakey should not have been rude to the women just because they are immigrants. It is not a nice thing to do. It is not the same, however, as an adult woman (who should know better) chasing him around an alley, beating him with an iron bar and sending him to the hospital!

Is this Britain's version of the Jena Six? A minority is insulted by something a white person did, so therefore, they are allowed to retaliate in any way they find prudent, even if that means using extreme violence?

The sad thing is how much western civilization is now controlled by "feelings". If someone's feelings get hurt, then something's gotta change, someone's gotta pay. This woman's feelings were hurt, I assume, so that means that not only is she allowed to beat the ever living crap out of this kid, she's also allowed to file charges against him for a hate crime. Are rudeness and intolerance is officially the worst crimes one can commit? Say the Slovakian woman killed little Jake Stedman. Would the police say it was ok because he was being a rude little brat? All a murderer needs to do nowadays is cry about how oppressed he or she has been, and how horrible it's been for them living with intolerance and oppression every single day and moonbats will race to their defense, claiming that society created this murderer and that they can't be held accountable for their actions.

If charged, Jake will be the youngest Briton to be charged with a race hate crime.

Forgot to mention: This statement is not inconsistent with the point of the post. Charge the kid with assault if you must but leave hate crimes out of the equation.

Thanks for being a douche bag, though, by suggesting I might defend child molesters. Have a great weekend!

Jason: so change the laws via legal means, but until then, enforce the fucking things! I can't believe I'm saying this to a conservative, because as a liberal I'm supposed to have a lower regard for the law than you (hyuk hyuk), and yet here you are declaring yourself the arbiter of all that is fair and righteous. Don't like hate crime laws? Change 'em. Liberals had to do the same with anti-miscegenation laws (to cite one of many examples), which were far stupider and more immoral than hate crime legislation.

Also, Jason, nobody (here) is defending the woman, who clearly should be charged with assault. Nobody (here) has suggested that the kid's insults mitigate the severity of her offense.

This is the logic of the left. If a particular subclass is a victim of a nasty taunt or two they think it justifies any response.

And before I am attacked by the left for this post, I want to say that I am writing from experience. Years ago, I openly came out of the closet, for which my right leaning friends (contrary to the sterotypes) fully supported me.

However, this did not change the fact that on occasion, a taunt or two was thrown my way. On one night in particular, stupidly, I responded and attacked a guy who called me out. Fag was the word he used (This was in a Blue state btw!) So I punched him in the nose.

Now, I shouldn't have hit the guy and I know I overreacted, but here is the kicker. When the cops came, despite the fact that I hit him, the cops asked ME if I wanted to press charges for a hate crime.

Can you believe that crap? A guy takes a sock on the nose because I had thin skin and he faces a felony and up to five years in prison. Needless to say I refused to press charges on the guy, and that did more to win him over than any bullshit hatecrime laws, passed by a bunch of asshats ever would have.

Good for you, marc.

As for conservatives being about enforcing the law... when it comes to the law I'm libertarian.

What's more, for those without a libertarian take on what should be legal or not legal or the moral need to obey immoral laws... and even for those who do... part of changing such stupidity is to speak out about it.

Duh.

Because what marc describes is what we're looking at and what is happening in England can happen here. And we don't want it to happen here.

How do laws change except that public opinion changes *first* and one of the ways it changes is when people express outrage that an adult woman can *chase down* a 10 year old child and *beat him* and still turn around and want him charged with a hate crime. Too.

She took the law into her own hands and now wants the law to act as well. So the kid gets it *twice*.

We don't believe in convicting a person twice for a single crime.

What's up with British Law? "Zero-Tolerance" taken to the ultimate. Why use discretion in judging whether something is actionable? The law is the law - clear and clean and black and white. No shades of gray allowed - if a 10-year old says something mean, it's a violation of the law, therefore he must be punished.

That the woman commited a crime doesn't matter. Her case is separate.

Zero-tolerance. It's MUCH easier than thinking!

(Makes me think that Judge Dredd, the 2000 AD comic series that's popular over in the UK, has had way too much influence on judicial thinking... Judge Dredd was well known for adherence to the letter of the law, and didn't let compassion or discretion enter into his decisions.)

Sean --

If she is free on bail, then she isn't locked up, is she? An adult who would so severely assault a child should not be allowed to roam the streets free in my humble opinion.

So don't worry, my reading comprehension is just fine, but thank you for trying to stay so on top of things. Next time, I'll make sure to write more plainly, and try to make things a little bit simpler as to not confuse anyone.

Thanks for reading!

No, she isn't still up, but she was and posted bail.

Apparently you believe she should be "locked up" indefinitely and not be allowed to post bail, which is offered to most other accused criminals. That's fine, but that's not the way their (or our) legal system works. And I doubt your "humble opinion" is a valid rationale for keeping someone in custody.

"Since when Slovaks constitute a separate race?"
Ever heard of Roma problem in Eastern Europe? The fact that she holds Slovak passport doesn't mean she is a Slovak. There are 500 000 of them in Slovakia. They only say they are Slovak when it's convenient for them. Of course media in GB wouldn't report on her ethnic background 'cos that would probably be Politically Incorrect.

But there are hints which I described here:
http://newportcity.blogspot.com/2007/09/10-year-old-attacked-and-may-be-charged.html

And I also found this horrid article describing the event where a Slovak woman when iterviewed says: "But Slovakians have darker skin than other Eastern Europeans". Whatever the importance of the color of one's skin - this is just plain giveaway. It is as if you said that native Swedish people have darker skin than Danes.
