Robert Chambers, the infamous "preppy killer" in New York City, has been busted for selling drugs, CBS TV-2 reports:
Robert Chambers, the infamous "Preppy Killer," was arrested late Monday night in New York City, this time on multiple counts of selling a controlled substance, CBS 2 HD has learned.Police executed a search warrant at 357 East 57th St. and arrested Chambers, 41.
He was charged with three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the first degree, three counts of the same charge in the second degree and one count of resisting arrest, police said.
Chambers became a household name in the city two decades ago for the murder of 18-year-old Jennifer Levin in Manhattan's Central Park on Aug. 26, 1986.
Read the rest at the above link. Chambers served 15 years; the average time served for murder convictions nationwide is just over six years. Yet, some people just never learn.
I'm not fond of the criminal sanctions of our current drug laws, but in Chambers' case, at least they're taking a guy off the street who needs to be off the street.

Too bad they just didn't execute this lowlife after he murdered that poor girl twenty years ago. Then the state would have been spared having to provide free room and board for this latest crime.

I don't know where you got the statistic re: 6 yrs. being the national average sentence for murder convictions, but I am quite sure this is not correct. It is way too low.

I said "time served", most often a fraction of the full sentence.
