I had been looking forward to Blogworld for over a year now, but found out recently that I will not be able to attend because the only time we were able to schedule my daughter's upcoming surgery was that same week. I especially hate that I will miss seeing Kevin and participating in the Weblog Awards, and that I will miss out on meeting Hugh Hewitt and Michael Yon and many of my other favorite bloggers I have not had a chance to meet in person yet. In addition to so many of my favorite bloggers who will be attending, there will also be quite a few there from the left and from non-political blogs. Rick Calvert has lots of Blogworld news posted on the website, most recent of which is the announcement that Mark Cuban will be giving the closing keynote. Unfortunately, "Arianna's people" called to say she was cancelling her Blogworld appearance.
Kim adds: I feel your pain Lorie. I, too, was really looking forward to going to Blogworld for the same reasons, but I will be missing it as well because, well, I'll be nine months pregnant, which means traveling from Northern Michigan to Las Vegas is out of the question.

I'm sure the other bloggers would be just as excited to meet you, too. I hope your daughter's surgery goes well. I like your priorities.

LOL, would one expect anything else from Huffington? She gets them to rearrange everyone else's schedules for her benefit and then she pulls out anyway. They'll be better for her absence.

Kim, it is wise to stay in Michigan when you are due to give birth anytime now. Everyone know what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. ww

Lorie, sorry you could not attend that event as your stock continues to rise as a writer both on the web and with at least one newspaper that I know of. I think CNN and other sources have a growing respect for you as well.
But I guess many families have their difficulties and cross to bear and I wish your family the very best. Things could always be worse. My family was again hit with tragedy yesterday when my beloved mother died at home of respiratory problems created by secondhand smoke at her workplace. My mother was reduced down to just 30% lung capacity due to the health ravages of secondhand smoke damage to her lungs. My mother never smoked once in life herself. I lost my father back in late July from a massive stroke, and haven't fully emotionally recovered from that. And a few days later, on August 2, I was badly injured in a motor scooter crash due to a wheel bearing problem caused by a pothole that threw me over the handlebars at 25mph.
So look up, Lorie. Your writing continues to gain attention and respect, and your worries at home are not as bad as they could be. All in all, not bad. Chin up.
