Chris Dodd Is Right

A lot of people have been giving Senator Christopher Dodd a bit of heat over his piece published at the Huffington Post last week. I was all set to jump on the kick-Dodd bandwagon, but then I actually read the piece -- and especially the money quote -- and I'm reconsidering.

Compare that (the case of Zaccarias Moussaoui) case to the case of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who organized the attacks of 9/11. He was held in a secret prison, where he claims he was tortured severely. Whether he is lying or not, by our actions we have allowed Khalid Mohammed to claim the moral high ground. Khalid Mohammed plays martyr to a world that is inclined to believe it.

Think about that for a moment. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (he's the guy who looks like the love child of Rosie O'Donnell and Ron Jeremy, if you need a reminder) was one of the three Al Qaeda members that have been acknowledged to have been subjected to waterboarding. Mohammed was the master planner behind the 9/11 attacks, as well as numerous other terrorist plots and events: the beheading of Daniel Pearl, "shoe bomber" Richard Reid, several other bombings, and plans for far, far more.

This is the man who Dodd fears could become a modern-day Che Guevara -- a man who was responsible for the deaths of literally thousands of innocents, who planned and attempted the deaths of thousands more, and who is alive and well today and, apparently, being held at Guantanamo.

This is the man that is claiming to be a martyr -- and a good chunk of the world is willing to grant him that status.

This is not a commentary on the United States. This is a commentary on a good chunk of the world.

Anyone who would grant him moral equivalency with the United States is so warped that their opinions should not be given the slightest weight whatsoever. Indeed, they are so warped that their opinions on matters of morality and ethics might serve as a good lodestone -- whatever they endorse ought to be immediately considered suspect. And those who would consider him superior to the United States based on our treatment of him since we took him into custody are even more insane.

I hate to steal a line from the religious fundamentalists, but morality is NOT something that is determined by simple majority. We all have our own definitions of what is right and wrong, derived from our own experiences and beliefs, but we should never submit our own judgment to that of others, simply because there are a certain number of them.

To those people who would grant such authority to others, you're free to do so. Just understand if I don't do the same. My opinion does NOT depend on making sure I have at least 51% of everyone else approving of me.

To any lefties thinking torturing never works: It does sometimes. When a terrorist's confession is accompanied by self-proving information, doesn't that mean the torture DID get the guy to tell the truth?

The world would make a martyr out just about anyone in order to smear the US.

The nation of rejects and mongrels has had more relevance over the past 70 years than any other nation. The Soviet Union only came close and anyone else is far behind. That's a difficult thing for many nations which still run on nationalistic pride to swallow.

Its about power and relevance. So the moment they believe they could not control us with their negative judgments would be the moment they'd stop bothering to making them.

We're speaking two different languages here. In a sense we have allowed him to claim the moral high ground because we have allowed him to talk and stay alive and be treated humanely. That is our mistake.
But I do not for one minute think that's what Dodd had in mind, because Dodd is an complete asshole who worships Castro. He is speaking a different tongue entirely; warped, forked and dorked.

no, Che has the six feet UNDER ground position staked out!

the "Moral High Ground" is pretty crowded these days:
- Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Mass-murderer turned "VICTIM"
- alGore, moron turned "Environmental Expert"
- Jimmah Carter, rabid anti-Semite turned Nobel Peace Prize recipient
- alGore, moron turned Nobel Peace Prize recipient
- Yassar Arafat, terrorist turned Nobel Peace Prize recipient
- Michael Moore, flagrant liar and propagandist turned Oscar winner
- alGore, flagrant liar and propagandist turned Oscar winner

yup, they hand out tickets to the "Moral High Ground" these days the way they hand out "virgins" to homicide-bombers! Actually, they give THEM tickets to the "Moral High Ground" too!

Our enemies laugh at useful idiots like Dodd. Why should we give a rat's rear end about "world opinion"? Under the circumstances, the world would be better off worrying about what we think of them.

Since he claimed he was tortured, and Democrats constantly decry torture. Maybe we could take a page out of Saddams play book and really torture this piece of human garbage. I would enlist some of those who lost loved ones on 911 to attach the electodes, heat the irons or what ever.

F|_|ck'em, he is an animal, you don't care about the opinion of animals. Really not interested in someone's morality getting in the way of our security from these animals. All that matters nowadays is legal and illegal, not moral or immoral. We should make most things legal when dealing with the animals.

How true.
At my University they are exhibiting the work of a Mexican artist who painted an image that made President Bush into Hitler. Someone asked me what I thought of the exhibit and I said that any artist who who would paint that is so uneducated that nothing in his 20 or so paintings had any merit. What I said is not politically correct, but it is correct.
