This week's Weekend Caption Contest™ was topical and timed perfectly for Black Friday. Of course those most likely to have entered profane rants againsts retailers or Nintendo where stuck cruisung the malls and electronics stores looking for the elusive Wii's so they probably missed the contest entirely... The assignment this week was to caption the following picture:
Here are the winning entries:
1) (Baron Von Ottomatic) - "I don't care how fast these things are flying off the shelves, if Krugman says the economy is wallowing then the economy is wallowing."
2) (john1v6) - "*sigh* I could be home sleeping off the rest of yesterday's turkey. Instead, I'm at work because of all these Wii-tards who haven't discovered online shopping."
3) (Wade R) - "Hillary Clinton was as "surprised as you are" that a large cache of Wii's was found in the basement of the Clinton library and massage parlor Tuesday."
4) (La Mano) - "Wii the people, in order to form a more perfect gaming environment ..."
5) (fustian) - "Showing the kind of innovation they are known for, Microsoft introduces a new game console. The "Mii"."
6) (Tom Blogical) - "Why can't Wii be friends, why can't Wii be friends?"
The Readers Choice Award this week goes to:
(Peter F) - "But mom, I wanted a Wii, not a iiM!"
That's all for this week. A new edition of the Wizbang Weekend Caption Contest™ will debut Friday morning.

As always, I appreciate the mention!
Is it just me, or has something odd happened to the reader's choice voting? My impression is that many risque entries, and many entries mocking democrat candidates are getting voted down.
Has our group suddenly discovered the joys of negative voting, or have we been infiltrated by lefties?
This is not a comment on Peter F's fine entry at all, by the way, nor Kevin's excellent choices. I'm just wondering why the voting went from primarily positive votes a few weeks ago, to more balanced plus and minus votes the last few weeks?
I hope the community is not advocating only tasteful captions. Since humor and taste are often at odds, that would be quite a disappointment. I've I finally figured what humor is, you see:
Humor is rudeness directed elsewhere. When it comes my way, it's not so damn funny!

Thanks Kevin...I guess this means we're about the same age! ;-)
Hey rodney, the fine print says employees and family members are not eligible to win...just kidding!! (:-D)

I've noticed the difference you describe, too. I just chalked it up to people who have no sense of humor and nothing better to do...since it is a Caption Contest, after all.

Not to give you a hard time fustian but your entry falls a little flat to me considering the People icons you make on the Wii are called Miis.

Not to complain, but I did wonder about the counting methodology ...
oh well, Rove commands and I obey.
(Waiting to see how many trolls try to use that in a Bushbot comment, irony is lost on them)

D-Hoggs: I'm cut to the quick.
I guess they can't all be gems.
And are there really people here that would vote against their competition like Rodney suggests? That's just cold...
