Quote Of The Day - Black KKK Edition

"You're damn straight I blame hip hop for playing a role in the genocide of American black men. When your leading causes of death and dysfunction are murder, ignorance and incarceration, there's no reason to give a free pass to a culture that celebrates murder, ignorance and incarceration."

Kansas City Star sports columnist Jason Whitlock, on the violence black men perpetrate upon one another, something he terms "the Black KKK." In the case of Sean Taylor he was not wrong. Four black young men have been arrested in connection with his murder. Via Brutally Honest.

Dave W:

It seems that you have forgotten ton consult your liberal PC Social Justice manual today.

The reason that blacks promote this behavior is because it is all they know from hundreds of years of being held back by the white man. They don't have the power to influence anything in the majority (IE White behavior) so they act out the only way they know how.

Sounds stupid? Essentially this is the explanation i got from a teacher about this type of problem. Minorities have been held back for so long by whites that they act out in ways like this. It is the most ignorant way to look at race in this country, but the people who keep shooting each other and promote this behavior keep voting people in that have this view.

Is it really necessary to point out that violence killed that guy, not rap music? Art reflects values. It doesn't create them. The problems in African American communities precede the music that documents them.

The problems in African American communities precede the music that documents them.
And the music glorifies and perpetuates those values instead of pointing toward more positive ones. It used to be all we heard about popular music was about how it was going to change the world.

I guess it's better to think they've given up on that, rather than think this is the world they wanted to make.

If you accept the fact that in most cases the murderer knows his/her victim(s), do you really believe what music they listen to or what melanin is a larger factor than their emotional/circumstantial situation?

Jo:

Hollywood is doing their best to try to get characters smoking out of the movies to try and discourage the behavior.

But music has absolutely no influence whatsoever on young poor impressionable (and often parent-less) children in the black community.

Oh yes, and one more thing liberals, I have some oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you.

Liberals are idiots. People like nogo will never get it. They never have and they never will.

Solution: ban relationships, not guns (This is not about guns.)!

If you have a culture that ... (Below threshold)

If you have a culture that glorifies misogyny(?), ridicules education, worships violence, and has art forms EMBRACING those values, is it terribly surprising that the culture gets more violent, that the men in it avoid education, and women are looked on as simple sperm receptacles, to be used and then tossed aside?

We're not talking about racial characteristics here - we're talking strictly cultural.

Where marriage is avoided, is it surprising that there's few families with what would be considered a 'traditional' format, with a man and a woman staying together to raise children?

When the gun is looked at as the FIRST and best choice for solving ANY altercation, when being 'disrespected' becomes grounds for murder, is it surprising when there's more murders? Or surprising that a rap star was arrested trying to buy automatic weapons right before an awards ceremony? (There's more than ONE way to 'eliminate the competition'!)

When education is so devalued that simply learning sufficient language skills to get a starter job at McDonalds is seen as 'acting white' - what chance does that culture have to even survive, much less dig themselves out of the mess they've so diligently created for themselves, especially when they resist strenuously the idea that they're doing it to themselves?
