This is the 8th of a series of posts about the year's most important business stories:
The U.S. Supreme Court agreed in 2007 to decide whether D.C. can ban the sale and possession of firearms.
It goes without saying how "Machine Gun Sammy" Alito will vote. The same holds true for Justices Thomas, Roberts and Scalia. We also know in advance how the four liberal Justices will vote.
That leaves Reagan-nominated Justice Anthony M. Kennedy.
Two or three times per session Justice Kennedy on major cases inexplicably will vote to the left. So, it's not wise to count our chickens before they're shot.
But consider for a moment the frothing and utterly-deranged reaction from the media and other liberal groups if the SCOTUS shoots down so-called "gun control" laws.

A Supreme Court case that claimed the Second Amendment to be meaningless would be an election disaster to Democrats in 2008.

Leaving the 2nd Amendment in Kennedy's hands doesn't exactly bring on that warm fuzzy feeling. I'll be quite surprised if gun owners don't lose in the long run from this upcoming decision.

Don't be so sure about the liberals. I think Ginsburg will be on our side.
