Tis a nice try painting wit... (Below threshold)

Tis a nice try painting with a wide brush, but the MSM circulation departments are not full of the bleeding heart liberals that populate the news rooms, but rather cold, calculating (and apparently unscrupulous) business people (you know, conservatives).

I doubt very many reporters could tell you, within 20%, the circulation of the paper that pays their salary.

BTW, it's a nice twist that the liberal reporters depend on the business side to come up with the revenue that pays their salaries, while the business folks are dependent on people wanting to read liberal writing....

I doubt very many reporters could tell you, within 20%, the circulation of the paper that pays their salary.

And therein lies the problem with the Old Media...having existed until the early nineties in an almost monopoly business environment they learned to live with blinders that they themselves put on.

I wonder, stevesturm, if you allowed all ENRON employees, particularly officers, the same latitude in your moralizing that you grant (the) rather cold, calculating (and apparently unscrupulous) business people (you know, conservatives). Or do you just freely give hall passes to the bleeding heart liberals that populate the news rooms. It is manifestly obvious that the people the business folks depended on rejected the reporters and editorialists that made up the paper's content.

The Old Media succumbed to corporate hubris, also known as "we are smarter than the customer". The customer quietly and deliberately left that party and found another source for the news.

Well, they say ignorance is bliss, but I am not sure it is a virtue for someone putatively in the business of collecting and reporting facts.

If what you say is true, it goes a long way towards explaining why people hold the media in such low esteem. Garbage in, garbage out, and if you are getting garbage when you should be getting news, it ain't worth reading.

Thanks for underscoring Jayson's point, Mr. Sturm
