Conservative former CEO wins South Korean presidency
The rise to power of president-elect Lee's conservative Grand National Party was expected to herald closer ties with the U.S. and a more critical view of relations with communist North Korea, which has been lavished with aid by incumbent liberal president Roh's administration.
Yep.
Continuing:
Lee emphasized the economy in his campaign, promising to lift South Korea to among the world's top-seven economies.
Politics 101. It's all about the stupidity, economy.
There's more:
'I am very happy and it is like retaking democracy after a decade' of liberal rule, said Lee supporter Park Mi-won.
It is amazing, isn't it, how leftism and true democracy are mutually exclusive?

P.S. - Here's a link to a D-minus piece by the liberal Associated Press.

well the article you linked to might be a D- but holy crap you should read The New York Times version-
this is their very first sentence-
blockquote>Lee Myung-bak, a conservative politician famous for his success in business but dogged by questions about his character, swept to a huge victory on Wednesday in a presidential election dominated by economic concerns.
This is the NYT's second sentence-

Dang it my computer went hinky on me.
the first sentence by The New york Times
Then by the second sentence they already have him indicted and losing the election before his inauguration.-
Lest you think this might be a positive turn of events vis a vis their relationship with the US or their past weak stance in the face of the machinations of Kim Jong Il this is what The New York Times has to say by only the sixth sentence-
The New York Times is sure of this from where ever they are reporting but doesn't this defy common sense even to our regular Liberal commenters?
Let see Canada has a wack job as their Prime Minister who is playing with nukes and setting off earthquake seismographs across the waters but-
you know- that hardly would register with the voters right next door, it only would register with the Richter scales according to The New York Times.
Then they only have about two quotes in the whole article-one by a political science prof. to simply verbatim repeat their first sentence- about the ethical questions.
Do you think they could have one quote from the guy that actually won the landslide election ad most likely gave an hour long acceptance speech?
Hell no.
Or anyone from his party to defend the alluded to "allegations" which The New York Times doesn't even bother to delineate?
Hell no.
So ya the article you found hell if that's a D- what the heck would you grade The New York Times piece?
Unbelievable.
Anyways here is a link to the article for those interested to read it.

The difference between The New York Times and the AP piece just illustrates how far off the deep end they have gone but this is the paper that Liberals and even Republicans took to be the gospel truth on the Iraq War.
Bloody hell.

Just look what the left has done to our economy since 2000.
It was the damn left that demanded a pre-emptive invasion of Iraq for WMD's
It was the damn left that said we can conduct war and cut taxes at the same time.
The damn left that raised your insurance premiums
The damn left that devised the sub-prime debacle.
The damn left that allowed huge tax breaks for oil companies that would probably go bankrupt without them...not to mention the damn left responsible for gas and heating oil increases.
The damn left that has prevented Bush from pressuring the purple finger elected Iraq Govt from living up to to its' promises.
The damn left is responsible for the Republican Candidates for President..
Yep...whatever problems you have in your life right now...all a result of the damn Left

The damn left that raised your insurance premiums
I wouldn't normally stoop to blaming the left for my insurance premiums. Perhaps it has something to do with all the illegal aliens coming across the border and demanding free health care, and suing overworked doctors when they make a mistake. Can't say for sure.
The damn left that devised the sub-prime debacle.
Not sure, but I'd be willing to bet that it's people's bad choices that lead them to be bad credit risks... Yep, the dems sure are the party of bad choices...

Yep, when taxes eclipse profits, prices go up... that's what the dems are counting on:

Hyundai, and it's dynamic octogenarian founder, is one of the few corporations that have held any sort of positive influence over the North Korean dictatorship. I'd say this is a good development, any way you look at it, and I have hope for the future of the Korean people.
