He specifically asked that his death not be used by one side or the other for political purposes. Please read his post. I would hope that the people here would be adult enough, or just basically human enough, to follow that old rule their parents should have taught them to obey in most social circumstances -- "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." I do ask (not that I'm in a position to enforce this) that no one try to use my death to further their political purposes. I went to Iraq and did what I did for my reasons, not yours. My life isn't a chit to be used to bludgeon people to silence on either side. If you think the U.S. should stay in Iraq, don't drag me into it by claiming that somehow my death demands us staying in Iraq. If you think the U.S. ought to get out tomorrow, don't cite my name as an example of someone's life who was wasted by our mission in Iraq. I have my own opinions about what we should do about Iraq, but since I'm not around to expound on them I'd prefer others not try and use me as some kind of moral capital to support a position I probably didn't support.

Im sitting here trying not to let my wife and kids catch me crying while I read his final post.
I never knew this man, and I never read his blog before today. I wish I did know him.
I cant think of anything classy or deep to say, just that I wish peace to him and his family.

Thanks for catching my mistake. When I first read your comment about the spelling of Olmsted's name I thought it had to be wrong because I had taken the spelling from his own post. Evidently I made a typo because somehow I added an "a" to his name, but it has now been corrected.
