Amid mounting pressure from feminist groups, MSNBC host Chris Mathews apologized for remarks he made about Hillary Clinton, reports Howard Kurtz for the Washington Post:
Under pressure from feminist groups and his own bosses at MSNBC, Chris Matthews apologized yesterday for remarks about Hillary Clinton that he now admits sounded "nasty."For 10 days, the "Hardball" host had doggedly insisted he was just reciting a bit of history when he said on the air that "the reason she's a U.S. senator, the reason she's a candidate for president, the reason she may be a front-runner is her husband messed around."
But protests against those and other remarks by Matthews reached a peak yesterday when the presidents of such groups as the National Organization for Women, Feminist Majority and National Women's Political Caucus sent a joint letter of complaint to NBC News President Steve Capus.
On last night's program, Matthews defended the substance of his remarks that Clinton's political career in New York was launched because of public sympathy stemming from her husband's much-investigated affair with Monica Lewinsky. But, he said, "was it fair to imply that Hillary's whole career depended on being a victim of an unfaithful husband? No. And that's what it sounded like I was saying."
Read the whole story at the link above. If Mathews is going to apologize for every stupid remark he makes betraying his personal prejudices, he will have precious little air time to do anything else.
The guy's an ass. Being an ass is what got him a media job. And now people are shocked when he acts like an ass?

The sex drama that Bill brought to the Whitehouse is the best thing that ever happened to the Clintons.
To this day, if you criticize Clinton's record, more often than not his defenders will be the ones who bring up the blowjob to derail the conversations.

Chris Mathews is such a demented little twerp, he fits right in with Olberfool and rest over there.
In typical leftist-loon fashion his "apology" isn't and probably was never intended to be.
"...the reason she's a U.S. senator, the reason she's a candidate for president, the reason she may be a front-runner is her husband messed around." -Chris Matthews, Jan. 8, 2008

Despicable sh*tbag, that's exactly what he said.

If it were a Republican Candidate his apology would have been "if you were offended by my remarks, I am sorry that you were offended."
Not apologizing for the statement, but apologizing for your reaction to the statement.

As we are in media..
Those that listen to Rush, and on occasion I do are aware of his recent tirades against some Republican, and support for Mitt.
I just offer this for info
Mitt founded Bain Capital
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bain_Capital
back in 2006 Bain bought Clear Channel
http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/story.aspx?guid=%7Bd3e6f95f-4d36-4cf9-928a-9a8fcb26114b%7D
As you all know, Rush and others are on Clear Channel.
This is simply a point of info concerning media...It is all controlled folks. The concept that there is such a thing as MSM is a myth.

If you read between the lines, what he's really saying is that all his liberal friends were outraged, and to further placate them, he's doint a mea culpa. His first ever, apparently.
Only a liberal outrage can prompt a "journalist" to apologize for boorish and uprofessional behavior.

Should I hold my breath waiting for an apology for his remarks insulting Republicans and Iraqis on the Tonight Show?
Matthews is an emotional dolt.

The problem with his apology is that he was right. What the hell has Hillary even done on her own? She got elected to the Senate because idiot liberal women felt sorry for her. She won the NH primary because she cried and liberal women felt sorry for her. I'm sorry, but feeling sorry for someone is a sorry reason to put her in the White House.

Unfortunately, two wrongs don't even cancel each other out, let alone make 'em a right. His style and insinuations are always beyond reproach, regardless of his target.
