Actor Heath Ledger Found Dead

From Fox News: Heath Ledger was found dead today in his Manhattan home. This is really surprising news because he was not one of the crazy actors who always got himself into trouble. He was in a new upcoming Batman movie The Dark Knight as the Joker. The only movie of his I saw was A Knight's Tale, which I really enjoyed.

It may have been drug related. The New York Times reports that he was found surrounded by pills:

The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment building at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, according to the New York City police. Mr. Ledger was 28.

At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger's bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities. The police said they did not suspect foul play and said they found pills near body.

Update: US Magazine reports that, according to a "friend," Heath really struggled with substance abuse and that "we saw it coming." Take that for what it's worth. Also the report at the end of the article that Heath was found at Mary-Kate Olsen's apartment is incorrect. So the rest of it could be wrong, too.

Update II: The Daily Mail reports that the apartment was in fact owned by Mary-Kate Olsen but that Heath was renting it from her. And, according to the Mail, he was devastated by his break up with Michelle Williams, which reportedly happened because of his drug use.

Update III:
Now we're hearing from TMZ that he had pneumonia when he died.

Update IV: Ok, maybe we'll finally get this straight. Mary Kate Olsen didn't have anything to do with Heath's apartment. All the confusion was the result of the fact that the masseuse, I think, called Mary Kate first when she and the housekeeper found Heath. Now, the question is, why?

A sad story. His daughter (with Michelle Williams) looks exactly like him - so he lives on.

I wonder what Naomi Watts will say. They dated for several years before he got with Michelle.

Becoming an alcoholic is always so much easier than stopping. It takes so many to extract one from the clutches of addiction but putting one's self in the arms of dependency is a solo act.

This is a real tragedy for Ledger's daughter.
