Padilla sentenced to 17 years in federal prison

Jose Padilla, an American citizen convicted in August of conspiracy to provide material support to overseas terrorists, was sentenced on Tuesday to 17 years in federal prison.

Jury selection began Monday for the retrial of six men charged with conspiring with al-Qaida to destroy Chicago's Sears Tower and to blow up FBI offices around the country.
