Today's winner is Congressman Henry Waxman. He gets the award for the following.
A day after a dramatic, nationally televised hearing that pitted Roger Clemens against his former personal trainer and Democrats against Republicans, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform said Thursday that he regretted holding the hearing in the first place. The whole thing was a staged circus. Anyone living outside the beltway could see it was a complete waste of time and money. Saying you're sorry now don't cut it Congressman Henry Waxman, I name you today's Knucklehead of the Day.The chairman, Henry A. Waxman, Democrat of California, said the four-hour hearing unnecessarily embarrassed Clemens, who he thought did not tell the truth, as well as the trainer, Brian McNamee, who he thought was unfairly attacked by committee Republicans.
"I think Clemens and McNamee both came out quite sullied, and I didn't think it was a hearing that needed to be held in order to get the facts out about the Mitchell report," Waxman said.
"I'm sorry we had the hearing. I regret that we had the hearing. And the only reason we had the hearing was because Roger Clemens and his lawyers insisted on it."
Hat tip- Michelle Malkin. There is a Knucklehead award sitting on the shelf for Senator Arlen Specter if he ever calls a hearing to investigate the NFL's spygate.

Tis a little out of character for Waxman, who usually has no problem embarrassing those called before his committee.
And for Specter, he's in the minority so he can't do squat. You'll have to wait another generation until the GOP regains control to see if Specter calls for a hearing into the NFL taping.

I think this stems from Waxman losing alot of dodgeball games to people like Clemens when he was a kid and he thinks it's his chance to "show them".

Waxman disappoints me here, concentrating on stupid baseball when he knows there remain Bush Administration criminals who have escaped being held accountable.

If Waxman holds hearings for anyone who requests them - and according to him, he does - let's hold a few of our own! Here's a form letter:
