Getting Off On The Wrong Foot

My friend Candy sent me the link to this rather odd story, and we both wondered if the author will be looking for a new job soon. Either they sneaked something past their legions of editors and fact-checkers at Agence France Press, or the reporter is just as inept as their superiors:

A severed human foot has been found in Canada's westernmost Gulf Islands, marking the third such discovery in six months stumped police said Saturday, noting all three are right feet, size 12, male and shod in sneakers.

(Emphasis added)

I don't think the police are the only ones stumped here...

An article from June 14, 2000 by the AJC's Cynthia Tucker about the Ray Lewis case that I kept because of its opening paragraph:

In the wee hours of the morning of Jan. 31, two men lay on a Buckhead sidewalk dying of the stab wounds they had received in a street brawl outside a bar. The men, Jacinth Baker, 21, and Richard Lollar, 24, were not powerful or wealthy or well-known. In fact, they were everyday working stiffs.
