Senator Barack Obama's controversial church and its controversial pastor are mentioned from time to time. Now the Big Media is beginning to take notice, as in this report from ABC News' Brian Ross:
Obama is going to be called upon again and again to explain things like the award bestowed on Louis Farrakhan, "G*d d*mn America!", "the US of KKK-a," and blaming America for 9/11. His weak non-denials, as when he "rejected" Farrakhan's anti-semitic words (but not his support), will not suffice any longer.
UPDATE: Fox News also bought the videos from the church, and found more interesting clips:
It was not the first time Wright appeared to endorse Obama, who was baptized at Trinity United, has been an active member of the church for two decades and receives spiritual mentorship from Wright.The title of Obama's second book, "The Audacity of Hope," was taken from a sermon by Wright.
During a Christmas sermon, Wright tried to compare Obama's upbringing to Jesus at the hands of the Romans.
"Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people," Wright said. "Hillary would never know that.
"Hillary ain't never been called a nigger. Hillary has never had a people defined as a non-person."
In his Jan. 13 sermon, Wright said:
"Hillary is married to Bill, and Bill has been good to us. No he ain't! Bill did us, just like he did Monica Lewinsky. He was riding dirty."

This needs to be explained. The way I see it is that this racist preacher is the reason Michell O. is not proud of this country as is Barrack. This is shameful.

It is one prong of a well-designed strategy of the Hillary campaign. Between now and the PA primary, she is preparing to dismantle Obama piece by piece. First, she used Ferraro to gin up the race issue, with the obvious motivation of driving up her margins among white voters. Second, she is going to tie Obama with his church and his pastor. As Mickey Kaus in Slate points out, she is going for the "Jessie-fication of Obama".

I agree it is pretty shitty when someone who has literally not managerial experience and very little government experience. The Reverend Wright announced his retirement from the church, and it will not become effective until May of 2008. He's not gone yet. He's still there at the church, and he's still on the Obama campaign. He held his last sermon Sunday, February 10th. He will be on sabbatical leave from the church from March until May 'cause that's when he's on the Obama campaign.

What we did in Latin American and are doing now in Columbia is terrible. Remeber how we treated the Japanese Americans? In the mean time we were the last major nation at the time to do away with salary. We are one of the only industrialize countries that still has the death penality. We put leaders in power that later kill their own. We are often driven by wealth and greed. Many of our citizens do not know what their country does and doesn't care to know. Before this election, the majority of people didn't even vote. If I grew up Black, I believe that I would really understand what this preacher was talking about. Face it, we have been unfair to our Black Brothers and Sisters. We have been down right awful. So open your eyes and love this country enough to see its problems ans work to change them, not just hide your head in the sand.

Obama joined this organization/church of his own free will, over twenty years ago. To me this is not that far removed from David Dukes involvement with another of these types of organizations. If this is considered a normal and common sermon in today's black churches than they really arent any different from yesterday's KKK. Buy the way David Duke did renounce that organization. (guilt by association) if your part of the association then your guilty. No wonder so many blacks these days have a chip on their shoulder, they go to their rallies every sunday and wednsday.

The thing is, folks like Regina look at yesterday's actions and wallow in the guilt. They don't see that we learn from our mistakes, and try not to repeat them - instead, that mistake is as fresh and relevant TO THEM as if it were happening right NOW. EVERYTHING that was done wrong in the past is happening NOW to them.
No, it doesn't make sense - but it's the way it seems to be seen.

Anyone who has posted a comment supporting the preacher's stance against America should reconsider. Listen to some of the man's other sermons. He preaches that the American government created AIDs to use in genocide against Black Americans, among other things. Before you support him, you should know what else he is saying. It is shocking to me that hate speech such as this is still present and supported in today's society. Equally disgusting, but not entirely shocking, is the fact that this story has gotten so little coverage. This clearly shows the liberal media's bias in support of Obama.

What just drives me crazy is this. We are supposed to have a separation of church and state in this country. Since when should all of these religious leaders start having ANY influence in American politics. Shame on them, shame on us all for allowing this to happen. Look around the world, and back through history, where religion has merged with political systems. All of them eventually end up greatly restricting freedoms and become narrow minded. Do we want some version of theocracy in the US? I think not. Preachers - stay in your house and out of the White House!

Uranium (fission), plutonium (fission) and hydrogen (uranium or plutonium fission assisted fusion) warheads are all considered 'nukes', since they depend on splitting or fusing matter at the nuclear level to release the energy they do, where conventional explosives use the splitting of chemical bonds to get their bang.
Other than that - my father was a radar technician in the Navy in the Pacific. He would likely have been not quite in the ships of the first wave of Operation Downfall. And the casualties WERE expected to be horrendous.
Now - it can be argued all day and night that it was immoral to use nukes to end WW2 - but would it have been more moral to throw a million men (on our side, figure 2-4 times that for Japan) into a meatgrinder? It's all well and good to look back in horror 60 years and condemn it - but THEY weren't thinking about the tender sensibilities of folks later on, they were worried about winning the war as quickly as possible.And they didn't see 'not fighting' as a possibility.
Folks like Tim and Regina are so obsessed with the past 'sins' of the US they overlook the lessons learned from them. How many times have we used nukes since WW2? How many major hot wars have we had worldwide since WW2? Atomic weapons were supposed to make wars too horrible for the major powers to contemplate - and it worked WELL.
But for some - it doesn't matter WHEN something happened, or what was learned from it. It's still fresh guilt for them, and nothing will ever absolve the sins we're guilty of.

Hmm..could there be something that we could perhaps take from them and incorporate into our government policy? Britain: Again, free education. Canada: Sweet healthcare. God if only.. If only there was some way that WE could have those kinds of options. But we're the greatest nation on earth (or so I've been told). There has to be something that THAT gets us. Oh yeah, I can bitch about the President and not be jailed for it, and the government throws me a meager pittance every semester to help pay for college while I sink deeper and deeper into debt.
