Rev. Jeremiah Wright Leaves Obama Campaign

This controversy isn't over with Rev. Wright's departure from the Obama campaign. Senator Obama must explain his relationship with Wright. Why? Because for twenty years, Barack Obama attended Trinity United Church in which Wright spewed his hateful rhetoric on an apparently regular basis. For twenty years, Wright was Obama's spiritual "mentor." In what way did Wright mentor Obama spiritually? Does Obama share Wright's views that America created the AIDS virus for the purpose of killing off certain minority groups? Does he believe America deserved the attacks on 9/11? For twenty years, Senator and Mrs. Obama and their children sat in that church week after week as Wright preached, yet today Obama announced that he was unaware of Wright's anti-American, conspiracy-filled sermons. No rational, intelligent American will buy that sorry excuse.

The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation. When these statements first came to my attention, it was at the beginning of my presidential campaign. I made it clear at the time that I strongly condemned his comments. But because Rev. Wright was on the verge of retirement, and because of my strong links to the Trinity faith community, where I married my wife and where my daughters were baptized, I did not think it appropriate to leave the church.

Sister Toldjah compares Obama's defense to Al Gore's "Iced Tea" defense.

Obama also tried to claim that Wright was his pastor only and had nothing to do with his political life:

Most importantly, Rev. Wright preached the gospel of Jesus, a gospel on which I base my life. In other words, he has never been my political advisor; he's been my pastor. And the sermons I heard him preach always related to our obligation to love God and one another, to work on behalf of the poor, and to seek justice at every turn.

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air exposed that line very quickly by reminding us of a January 2007 Chicago Tribune piece that reported that Obama consulted with Rev. Wright before making any "bold political moves." Oh, really?

Update: Obama is on Hannity and Colmes right now responding to questions about his relationship with Rev. Wright.

We have been baising our faith on a man that preaches faith and change, yet his pastor AND advisor preaches bigotry and hate against the nation and white people. This is not preaching change. This is preaching separation and guilt by color. I have been stupid. I regret voting for Obama. I can not call myself an American and support Obama. Nor am I his enemy because I am white. Let's get mature, especiall... (Below threshold)
Roland:

Let's get mature, especially intellectually. Rev. wright expressed his opinions, which most of us, including senator Obama, do not approve of. Come on! Was Senator Hillary responsible for Ferraro Geraldine's opinion about senator Obama? Similarly, was senator Obama responsible for Samantha Power's opinion about senator Hillary? Why then should senator Obama be held responsible for Rev. Wright's opinion about either Senator Hillary or the American political system? Who, among us, goes to church in order to do whatever thing(s), either moral or immoral, that the pastor or priest does? If people ought to be judged according to the behaviour of their leaders, then let's start the judgement process:
First, all democrats are adulterous, because their leader Bill Clinton is an adulterous.
Second, all residents of New York state, including Hillary, are adulterous, because their governor Spitzer has just proved to be one. Third, all republicans are liars, because their leader George Bush lied that Saddam Hussein had the weapons of mass destruction. Fourth, insofar a country's government represents the country's inhabitants to the international arenas, should it be charged that all Americans are aggressive, simply because their successive governments have always preferred the military approach to alternatives? Fifth, etc...
What does senator Obama have to do with Rev. Wright's opinion? If a biological parent cannot be held responsible for his/her mature child's behaviour, how illogical, grotesque, and biased it is to attempt holding senator Obama responsible for Rev. Wright's opinion? Not only is the enemy No. 1 of the United States, Mr. Osama bin Laden, from Saudi Arabia, but also he is from that country's royal family. Why have the American government not yet halted their diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia? Isn't that the Saudi Arabia's prince was received with all due honour in the United States after September 11? Do you still need to be told why? The answer lays in the fact that, in a democratic world, nobody is responsible for anybody else's acts, unless that somebody else is a dependent of that somebody. This begs the question as to whether Rev. Wright is Mr. Obama's dependent. In short, Rev. Wright's comments may seem racist, but attempting to hold senator Obama responsible for them is even more racist.

I have listened to CNN repeat the same comments of Rev. Wright over and over again. Although I don't agree with the stage and audience of his presentation and am quite sure that Obama doesn't agree or relate to the comments because he hasn't had the background of which the statements are related, the facts of the matter are true!

White America seems to have a guilt factor trying to down play what they know is the truth! RACISM HAS EXITED AND STILL EXISTS IN AMERICA. Those of you who are writing that the "air coming out" or "Racist" are evidence. The new generation has moved on but many still remain in the same state of mind.

Most of what I have seen during this campaign on the media's part and the Clinton's are racially motivated. She isn't winning with the untruths (35 years of experience) therefore, she has to "fight" by any means necessary with the HELP of the media. Let's get real. A 60 year old person has 35 years of relevant experience. That means that she started her experience for the Presidency at 25 years old. Doing What? Being a lawyer (8), governor's first lady (8), being the first lady of the President (8), Senator (7), children defense fund (-1), taking the bar exam and failing (1)? What?

Obama is winning without being negative, and some in white america cannot stand it. Many white american have moved beyond race. Obama, because of his upbringing, simply knows very little about racism as Rev. Wright talks about.

He 'doesn't' fit the mold that most of white america has put blacks into. The fact that he attends a church where the minister's views do not line up to white america is NO reason to penalize Obama. White America does not want to confront the evils inflicted on generations of blacks which does continue today.

Those of you who are spending so much time discussing this matter, ask yourself why? Are you racially motivated? Are you somehow afraid that this country is or has changed from race to economics? Are you trying to wake up the Whites who are not allowing race to cloud their minds?

There have been many whites, both ministers and citizens alike, that have openly been racial and during my 56 years I have never heard as much about it from the television news media as I have now.

YOU ARE PROMOTING RACISM -- NOT EXPLORING ISSUES. ASK YOURSELF IF BEING BLACK HAS BEEN AN ADVANTAGE IN AMERICA AND WOULD YOU WANT TO TRADE PLACES WITH A BLACK MAN IN AMERICA.

James Smith:

First off I don't blame Obama for what his pastor said. I am a democrat and I go to a church made up of mostly Republicans and there are things said some times that I don't agree with but I am there for the worship and fellowship I am quite close with my pastor but I don't agree with every thing he says all the time. I know my Parents feel the same way at there church.
I think it is ridicules to think that Barack Obama, who was raised in a loving home by his white mother and white grandparents, is racist toward white people because of something his pastor said. I also think that it is sad that in America a country made of many different immigrants and cultures people can be so closed minded and angered by people who's thoughts and culture differ from there own.
I don't agree with every thing that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright had to say and I can see how the over all message could have been lost to those who are easily offended but I do think that he had a valid point that most Americans are afraid to talk about. No one wants to ask the question why do these people hate us so much. I in no way think that the 9-11 attacks were justified and I was just as horrified and saddened buy the attacks when they took place but I do not think that it is wise for us too call whole countries of people evil. We can't expect to just wipe out all these people who believe in their cause so much that they are willing to die for it. Some of these people might have a legitimate grievance that no one on this side is willing to listen to because no one is willing to admit that some mistakes may have been made by the United States of America. Our Government must be able communicate with these people and try to reach some compromises these are simple things that we teach our children to do. America can not turn a deaf ear on people we deem to be less important then the interest of big business or money.
This country was partly founded by people coming here to escape religious persecution. Many people fought and died through out history so they can believe what their hearts told them to believe in, and part of what they died for was idea of the separation of Church and State. This was done so people could believe what they wont without being persecuted and told what they can or can not believe by their Government. I am saddened to see that religion plays such a big part today in our government and that people choose to vote on their religion rather then the real issues that effect not just in America but the world. I think that a lot of Americans have forgotten what it means to be an American.

Senator Obama didn't say those things Jeremiah Wright did.

Those ministers who endorsed McCain said the same thing "God is punishing America". I don't see anyone turning from McCain.

What could President Obama do to any race/gender or ethnic group except bring them together.

Senator Obama has a multi ethnic staff; I think by now someone would have said he was a racist. His campaign advisors are white; If he was such a separatist why is his staff so racially diverse.

Can a minister make a President banish people or something. Is McCain going to banish all Catholics because of some crazy pastor calling the Catholic church a "whore". The entire Bush family are close friends with the Saudi Arabian royal family, whom Osama Bin Laden is a member. If you are guilty by association, why is George Bush still president and giving American jobs to other countries? This guilty by association doesn't apply to Bush or McCain just Senator Obama.

Americans are losing thier jobs by the thousands, we are paying trillions of dollars for a war we should never have been in, Boeing just lost a contract that could have given 25,000 Americans jobs; this contract was given to the Europeans, not to mention the home foreclosure rate is 60%. This downward spiral will continue in America if a change is not made.

McCain is saying he won't change and Hillary can't bring change.

People please use common sense; why continue on a path of downward spiral because of what a minister says "scares" you somehow.

We are talking lives in America, let's get away from this "fear mongering". Senator Obama is for "ALL of America"; vote for McCain and you will see when you lose your job to someone overseas and you are having a hard time sending your kids to college.

We are not talking about just a preacher of Obama's church, we are talking about a friend for 20 years, by Obama's own admission not only a friend, like a family memeber and as he said his MENTOR.. I can only say that as a lay person not even a college grad, I personally would have gotten up from this mans church the first day I heard him say all this humiliating, insulting and blasfamy. By Obama's own admission, this man helped him form him and for condeming the comments now its truly a a bit to late. We need to really give this a big thought about electing Obama.
He was suppose to be the candidate of hope, what kind of hope are we talking about? The hope for these radical people that would like to destroy America? That hate America, that think we deserved the horrifc tragedy of 9/11.. How can we possibly put our country in the hands of Obama with a friend and mentor like Wright? Where was his good judgement he has been preaching? I will even dare to say now, why did he vote no for the war? Remember he says he was the only one who said no for the invasion, when there was the threat of Weapons of Mass distruction!I am just very confused and worried for the future of our Country? I am writing down all my emotions and feel that as a wonderful country that we are we really need to join together in passing on Mr. Obama this time around. We need to regroup, we need to know that who we elect to the Presidency of our United States of America is a person that does not consider a man like Wright his MENTOR, WHO NOW JUST TO GET ELECTED AFTER 20 YEARS OF MENTORING SAYS HE REJECTS..TOO LITTLE TO LATE.

Cloudrider9 Author Profile Page:

I'd love to see Obama fall (Go Hillary!), but to be fair, everyone is entitled to their opinions- including loud mouthed pastors. I think he failed to realize that things said as someone who's not in the political headlight are not the same as someone who is. 9/11 pains all of us, and no one and no country or city should ever deserve that kind of tragedy. Of course terrorists are to blame. And like Rev. Wright puts it- so is the U.S. government, who lit the match so many years before. And yes, racism still exists. And are there white people out there who would like to see Obama lose just b/c he's black? Probably there is. While its one thing to be muttering "speculations" and "conspiracy theories" and personal opinions under one's own private roof (we do have that right promised to us), its another thing to be shouting it from the pews as a presidential candidate's "spiritual advisor". I don't hold his opinions against him- he's free to have them. But politically? Stupid stupid stupid. What were you thinking? Precedence has always been moderation in all respects. Candidates that swung too far left or too far right have never made it to the presidential seat. Obama has done so well thus far b/c he never seemed to rub his heritage into that old wound called "American slavery"; he was nonthreatening, and he was not "the angry black man". In fact, he was the opposite; in fact he could almost be white!(sarcasm there) Now is that the reason why the truth of his pastor's sermons have unnerved so many white Americans? The realization that Obama is just another "black man" looking out for the black man's interest? Maybe if we stopped holding our politicians up on some holy pedestal, we can stop being surprised by who they really are.

But politically? Man- Obama needs a new political advisor. A real one this time.

While I cannot say for sure that Obama shares in his pastor's views, it seems to me that one is judged by the folk one associates with. I cannot believe that over 20 years association with this pastor that his attitudes and beliefs have not become apparent, and probably quite early on. Yet Obama did nothing to distance himself from this pastor. Maybe he does believe what the pastor spews.

Quite frankly his pastor disgusts me. I fail to see how it's acceptable to the media for him to say such things. If one substituted "white" for "black" in his statements, there would be a media frenzy over such a "white racist" statement. But since a black man says such things, oh no, sacred cow "freedom of expression" applies, and they won't touch it.

A racist is a racist, regardless of his skin color. It's still wrong. I say his pastor is a race hustler, looking to stir up controversy and make money. Just as bad as some others I could name in the black community.

It seems to me that Christians are supposed to forgive and forget. Going on and on about slavery, and how the blacks are oppressed seems contrary to that concept. I say that people like his pastor are trying to forment a racial inferiority complex, thereby keeping themselves in positions of influence and power within the black community.

For the record, I am NOT a racist. I associate with people of all colors and races, and only judge them on their attitudes and actions, not their skin color.

I think this a challenge for America right now to prove how racist they are or not. it seems to me if black doe not share the same values as white people therefore you are against america. what is the matter white america can't handdle the truth? the AidS, the siphylis, Africa the drugs they all true. if america hate Islam so much apparently these people are blacks how come Bush and Cheney is kissing their Asses right now? make MCcain or Hillary the president This country will be worst than a third world country. republicans and white democrats are just a bunch of hypocrits. and I will be damn if Obama apologize to the white community, after all white people put blacks through, I rather him looses the white house with dignity than to apologize. by the way I go to a multiculture church ask me what the sermons was 2 sundays ago I don't know, now all of the sudden you expect Obama to remember a year ago sermon nevertheless 8 years ago sermons, give me a break you are a bunch of hypocrits. At NRO's Corner, Rich Lowry discovers an admiring allusion to this vein of Wright's rhetoric in Obama's 1995 memoir Dreams From My Father about the first sermon Obama heard Wright give:

The title of Reverend Wright's sermon that morning was "The Audacity of Hope." He began with a passage from the Book of Samuel--the story of Hannah, who, barren and taunted by her rivals, had wept and shaken in prayer before her God. The story reminded him, he said, of a sermon a fellow pastor had preached at a conference some years before, in which the pastor described going to a museum and being confronted by a painting title Hope.

"The painting depicts a harpist," Reverend Wright explained, "a woman who at first glance appears to be sitting atop a great mountain. Until you take a closer look and see that the woman is bruised and bloodied, dressed in tattered rags, the harp reduced to a single frayed string. Your eye is then drawn down to the scene below, down to the valley below, where everywhere are the ravages of famine, the drumbeat of war, a world groaning under strife and deprivation.

"It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white folks' greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere...That's the world! On which hope sits!"

And so it went, a meditation on a fallen world. While the boys next to me doodled on their church bulletin, Reverend Wright spoke of Sharpsville and Hiroshima, the callousness of policy makers in the White House and in the State House. As the sermon unfolded, though, the stories of strife became more prosaic, the pain more immediate. The reverend spoke of the hardship that the congregation would face tomorrow, the pain of those far from the mountaintop, worrying about paying the light bill...

I'm confused. Please help me decide whom to vote for.

Barak Obama attended a church whose pastor says he hates white folks, Israel and the United States of America. I must, therefore, assume that Obama is likewise racist, anti-Semitic and unpatriotic, unworthy of my vote.

John McCain once visited a church whose is pastor claims that God sent Hurricane Katrina to destroy New Orleans because the city was to host a Gay-rights rally. McCain's staff, furthermore, is comprised largely of Washington lobbyists. I must, therefore, assume that McCain is a religious fanatic, a homophobe and a shady Washington insider, also unworthy of my vote.

With Hillary Clinton there's nothing to assume. Though the news media, for some reason, refuses to bring it up, she is married to arguably the most corrupt an unprincipled President in American history. And her own record, an open book, isn't so bright, either.

Recall their joint past: The Whitewater, cattle futures, Chinese connection, IRS-coercion, Travelgate, Pardongate scandals; the Fellatio trysts in the White House, the using of Marines as waiters, the violent-death body count, Bill's impeachment and near conviction, and all the rest.

I, therefore, cannot cast my vote for Hillary and Bill Clinton. (Her de facto Co-President running mate)

Andrew Sullivan 's double standard (ie hypocrisy)
The reaction of Obama supporters to Jeremiah Wright has certainly been instructive, especially those who had plenty to say about Mitt Romney and Mormonism last year. Today's example is Andrew Sullivan, who wondered whether Romney wore Mormon underwear and posted repeatedly about the polygamy that Romney's faith repudiated over a century earlier. I have just witness some very disturbing information concerning the message that Pastor Wright has been sending about America. Never have witnessed so much thankless malarkey as from the pulpit of Christian pastors. America does way more than it share of giving. Yet asks little in return. What we've done is become to apologetic for the actions that we take. It may seem that some of us have forgotten our first love (Christ) but does that give cause for the Pastor to say that we be damned.

Who gave him utterance in voice to request the almighty to subject America to damnation? Does his personal account include what he has or hasn't done. Does his polished hatred for America include the car that he drives, the finer clothes he wears and the food he eats?

Our country will continue to be blessed so long as we are deaf to HIs Word.

No one gives like us, stands and delivers like us, and still puts up with mess like us but us. And yet Pastor Wright personally stirs up hot coals to put on us. Pastor Wright has a bitter tongue that stings with the mindless jealuosy of Cain.

Ruth,

Obama's father was from Africa, so his Black ancestry has no connection with American slavery. Even being only 50% white doesn't mean anything in America because, under slavery, one drop of black blood made a person black. That's why when the white slave master had children by one of his slaves those children were still slaves and not masters. Even in subsequent generations when white slave masters had children by their half black slaves the children were still 100% slaves.

Slavery in America was destroyed over 140 years ago at a cost of the blood of thousands upon thousands of Union solders. No nation in Earth's history paid such a price to free others from slavery, yet there are some among us today who want sill more blood even from descendents of Union solders who gave their lives in the war to free the salves, even from whites coming to this country long after slavery was destroyed.

The slave masters are all long dead, but their descendents still live among us. They now invoke the rule that one drop of black blood makes them black, and so they are not responsible for what their slave master ancestors did. Yet these descendents of slave masters call the loudest for restitution from truly innocent whites for an injustice they themselves nor their parents never knew. An injustice already paid for in blood.

Back in August, 2007 a reporter from NewsMax attended one of Wright's services. Obama was in the audience:

Presidential candidate Barack Obama preaches on the campaign trail that
America needs a new consensus based on faith and bipartisanship, yet he
continues to attend a controversial Chicago church whose pastor routinely refers
to "white arrogance" and "the United States of White America."
In fact, Obama was in attendance at the church when these statements were made on July 22.

. . . Wright's strong sentiments were echoed in the Sunday morning service attended by NewsMax.

Wright laced into America's establishment, blaming the "white arrogance" of
America's Caucasian majority for the woes of the world, especially the
oppression suffered by blacks. To underscore the point he refers to the country
as the "United States of White America." Many in the congregation, including
Obama, nodded in apparent agreement as these statements were made.

The real issue here is the close association of a politician that has the possibility to rule the greatest Nation on earth with a person that just HATES. Mr. Obama is caught up in all this because of his lack of common sense to stay away from such an unruly person from the beginning and then pretends he didn't know. True, he made statements denouncing the Pastor's, but no one is naive enough to believe Mr. Obama never heard many similar statements from this same man over the many years. This then gives rise to the possibility that many of Mr. Obama's close friends also think on the same lines. As the old saying goes "birds of the same feature flock together." If Mr. Obama and other members of this so called church didn't agree with the pastor then they would've stopped attending years ago. Continuing to go to that church and listen to this HATER implies that they must agree with the same ideology. Mr. Obama, usually not at a loss for words, stammered all over himself on Fox trying to convince the public he had no knowledge of this pastor's prior statements. Yeah right and to top it off Mr. Obama used this same person as a "sounding board" to reference Mr. Obama from Jan 2007. I can only imagine what this advisor's advice was. I shudder to think what these two have talked about over the years. As President of the United States of America you represent ALL of the people not just some of the people. And yeah you can't make everyone happy but at least you don't surround yourself with HATERS. In fact, Mr. Obama's wife has also made questionable statements via her thesis paper and her recent remark that she is "now proud of America" seem to suggest she shares a common belief with the haters that surround Mr. Obama. This is NOT someone America can vote into office as doing so would set this country back 50 years or more. Sure this is a free country and he can have his own beliefs but as citizens of this great country we need to send the message that we won't stand for it. I think when American votes from here on out it will reflect how this country feels about this issue. I have no doubt if Mr. Obama fails to win the superdelegates vote that he will refuse to abide by this decision causing a catastrophic political nightmare. Wait and see.

Maggie,

Modern slavery is nothing like slavery as it existed prior to the civil war. What's being termed "modern slavery" by some academics needing a cause to advance their careers are in fact criminal enterprises. People caught up in prostitution, illegal immigrants having to work in fields and sweat shops, etc are not the same as in real slavery where a person was a slave under the law. Nor do these criminal enterprises pray on any one race or gender. Nor are these criminal enterprises unique or even more prevalent in the U.S. than in other countries.

Not long ago there was a story in the news about a women being forced to work as a domestic servant. She finally got fed up and escaped, and the couple in who's home she worked were convicted and sentenced to pay the woman wages and were also sentenced to jail time. Had this been real slavery the woman would have been returned to the couple and subject to whatever punishment the couple deemed appropriate. You have to put on special academic blinders to not see the difference.

And, while we're at it, how does his endorsement of Todd Stroger demonstrate him pushing forward this change of his? Blagovich, too (but that's a bonus point)?

Additionally, let me ask you if his relationship with Emil Jones is indicative of the kind of open minded politics that Barak so eloquently states he will bring to the White House?

And finally, beyond memorizing, I mean, memorizing Obama's own literature, how have you gone about determining the validity in Barak's claims?

Very very concerned:

I personally don't know why there isn't a thorough investigation of Obama. Actually I can't understand how he could show his face with all the controversy that surrounds him. His acquaintances and supporters are frightening. Show me your friends and I will show you who you are...........

He has lied, deceived and misrepresented himself to the American people on more that one occasion..

1.) Rezko, the criminal from Chicago:
Obama said during a debate that he only did a few hours of work. Obama in fact purchased a home from him and obtained campaign money from Rezko. First it was only 100000 now it's over 200000. Just a few hours? He really doesn't know him?

2.) Reverend Wright, Obama's Minister:
Obama said that he denounced his teachings when he spoke about the United States and had some racial comments against Hillary Clinton. Obama attended this church and knew the man for 20 years. This minister married Obama and baptized his children. How could he not know about this man's beliefs United Trinity Church in Chicago has a "black value system" on their web site. Isn't that enough? Obama is to be the one that brings America together? Deception.

3.) Louis Farrakhan, a radical Islamic: Obama said he denounce him during the debate. After the debate Louis Farrakhan told 20,000 people in Chicago asking the group to ignore what Obama says and still support him. No response from Obama except that during the debate Obama said that he couldn't help who supported him. Farrakhan is a radical leader as evil as a leader of the KKK.

4.) Canada NAFTA: Obama says that he never knew that one of his top officials was talking to the Canadian government about NAFTA. Later, Obama made some excuse for his not being aware. Deception.

5.) Muslim Name: Obama said I am not a Muslim. But Obama didn't say that his father was a Muslim. His name is not a common American name, Barack Hussein Obama. Deception

6.) Michelle Obama states that this is the first time I have been proud to be an American. Obama said she didn't mean it. Why say it? Deception

6.) Lou Dobbs and Immigration-Fear Mongering: Obama has made false statements about Lou Dobbs and doesn't apologize or clarify his statements. The ACLU won't talk to Lou about his views on immigration. Obama has attacked Lou Dobbs on several occassions and refused to discuss it. Obama sounds like he's reading from fear mongering. Complete deception.

7.) Health Care: Obama says he wants Universal Health care but denies that he will not cover 5 million Americans. He never mentions that to the American people.

This is just a sampling that really needs to be stressed to Americans, especially the youth that think of Obama like an American Idol, a rock star.

Please help the American people understand the many issues that should be addressed about the candidates. These issues should be kept in the forefront, for the safety of our country and for the many young Americans that are so vulnerable.

Who is Senator Obama trying to fool? Now he wants to do damage control by denouncing his pastor, but he still attends church there. I am SHOCKED that it took over a month for Senator Obama to finally say something about his pastor. This is the same pastor that Senator Obama supports through his regular tithing! The Senator's family donates thousand of dollars to this church annually. That means he support his pastor's RACIAL overtones and revolutionary statements of overthrowing America. Who does Senator Obama trying to fool and what is he trying to hide? Why is he openly, freely, and devotedly donated all that money to a cause if he doesn't believe in it? Why is Senator Obama lying to America? This is as bad as Senator Obama still accepting all that money from his crooked land developer that he supposedly hasn't seen nor talked to in years? HE'S JUST TRYING TO DO THIS BECAUSE HE NEEDS THE CHRISTIAN VOTE! HOW CAN HE CALL HIMSELF A CHRISTIAN WHEN HE SUPPORTS A CHURCH THAT OPENLY PREACHES THE DESTRUCTION OF AMERICA AND CHRISTIANITY! GO TO HIS CHURCH WEBSITE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!

For the good of the Party, Obama should step down. If he gets the nomination, McCain will be a shoe in. Someone should tell Nancy Pelosi

Anyone who believes 100% what their Preacher says "politically" can cast the first stone at Obama.

Big D:

Stop using guilt to get white people to vote for Obama. Telling white folks to vote for a Black just to show that they are not racist against the blacks is rediculous. Also, people suffering in Africa (currently)...please don't blame whites for that...last I heard their leaders and politicians are blacks and it has been that way for some time now...???

Big D:

The Clintons have done a lot for the black community...much more than Obama. And even if majority of blacks are not voting for Hillary, I am sure that the Clintons will carry on their social work with the Black Community(this is a matter of fact). Sad though, this is not a factor considered for the Presidential Candidate. Makes you wonder who is racist now.

Yeah, the whole paragraph kinda begs for at least one link, like we were left hanging on a thread.

And they say that Obama transcends across all races. I know of Churches that are led by Black Pastors but with a multiracial congregation...how come I dun see Obama in there. Instead, Obama chooses to be part of a church with a predominantly black community for the past 20 years. How the hell does one transcend from that???

Big D:

Note that Rev Wright's speech was made before campaigning began. To doubt that whites would vote for Hillary is a real irony. Today, Obama leads in delegates and thanks to many whites who put him there. Such little faith they(blacks) have in white Americans...sad, very sad.

Big D:

Another fantastic and inspirational speech by Obama. Thanks to an almost one hour free air time by the media. So I guess now you know the dilemma faced by many muslims. I condemed but yet I cannot disowned my muslim brother.

How many of you whites feeling guilty after Obama's speech? Also, main problem of Americans is not race...its how they judge people by their words rather than by their actions. So if your are a real sucker for inspirational words...vote Obama. But if you want action....I am sure you will know what a woman who has been cheated by her husband can do. She will give you fire for the next 4 to 8 years...which is what America really needs.

Time to leave the past behind. Ironically Obama goes to a church and listens to Pastor from that past which will start up old wounds every know and then. I dun really know how anyone can look towards a new future from there. Obama must denounce what his community stands for in order to move towards the future. He cannot have it both ways...or else nothing really changes.

Religion & race is big issues today. Did not help America when Christian Conservatives voted Bush in...and its going to be the same with Obama who uses religion & black slavery to reign in votes....can we pick a President without this baggage for once...?

Rev. Wright,
I do not understand your hatred of Isreal, a counrty less in size then New Jersey and surrounded by people who want to destroy it. As a youth I marched with protst rallies and put my life in danger to support the black community. I do not do that anymore as I do not think the black community cares. I want nothing from you other then the respect that I give you. I would meet with you to repudiate your ignorant claims.
