Family matters

Buckle up your baby, then try running over their Dad.

During a fight with her husband, authorities say, a woman loaded her baby and a suitcase into the family minivan and drove around the yard, trying to run him over.

St. Lucie County sheriff's deputies arrested Leslie Ann Brown, 34, on Friday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse.

According to an arrest report, the fight happened about 8:20 a.m. at the couple's home on Southeast Glover Street. The husband and wife began arguing with each other over $300, deputies said.

The fight soon turned physical. When Nicholas Brown tried to take the baby from his wife, Leslie Ann Brown grabbed the child. She loaded the baby and a suitcase into the minivan.

She began driving around the yard, chasing her fleeing husband. Deputies say the angry mother attempted to run him over approximately 20 times.

Was someone keeping count? If it was 20 times, what does that say the driver? I won't say anything more.

The mother exercised at least some precaution with the baby. As a deputy dryly noted in the report: "The child was buckled up inside the van the entire time the defendant was pursuing the victim with the vehicle."
The mother had their child buckled in, so why the child abuse charge? Yes having them watch while you try running over their father will probably qualify as abuse.
At one point, the husband threw a brick at the windshield to try to stop his wife.
As Rick at SFDB said, 'Isn't love grand.' I'm reminded of a line from Auntie Mame. "Marriage is a great institution, but who wants to live in a institution?"
Deputies arrived and arrested the woman. They placed the unharmed baby in the care of Leslie Ann Brown's mother.
Just another rich episode of life in Florida. Don't you just love the Sunshine State?

Mom is out on bail already. I hope the Browns work out their differences. Dear wife has a friend who is fighting with husband over their child after they separated. Innocent children suffer when caught between fighting parents.
