For a moment I was trying to connect Phelps anti-gay campaign with a guy and two girls in a bedroom. But then I realised that was a waste of time.

I have figured out Phelps though. He's a democrat. He exhibits the finest traditions of moonbattery of the left. He has run in the democratic primary for govenor and US senator in Kansas. If you look at the list of people he has campaigned against (starting with Reagan), you see he doesn't like republicans. But of course, you won't find the MSM mentioning Phelps ties to the democrats. Its another case of playing "guess the party".

What will it take to get these idiots to just go away?

A federal judge in Maryland has issued liens against Fred Phelps' church as it appeals a $5 million judgment for protesting the funeral of a Marine.

U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett on Thursday also ordered two of Phelps' daughters to post cash bonds of $125,000 and $100,000 within 30 days.

Phelps' daughter, Shirley Phelps-Roper, said anyone who believes the liens and bonds will stop Westboro Baptist Church is guilty of wishful thinking.

"I hope they so powerfully wish it that they become physically ill," she said. "They're going to be so disappointed.

"It changes nothing," Phelps-Roper said.

The judge placed a lien on the church, appraised recently at $442,800, and on a $232,900 office building owned by Phelps and his wife that the family law firm uses.

The liens mean that no new mortgages can be taken out on the properties and no money can be borrowed against the equity in them.

I really don't know what to do about the Phelpses. The fact remains that they feed off of the hate they generate, so however justified the reactions are it only encourages more of the same.

The key is to beat them at their own game -- humiliate them, but not in a way that gives them the attention they crave. The group bikers for the fallen has the right idea -- don't talk to or acknowledge any of those aholes, but when they show up to picket a soldier's funeral block them from view and rev up the motorcycles REAL loud.

Sheesh, when the bog-addled & brain-washed in the People's Republic of Madison stand up to you, I think you're a piece of rectal debris at that point.

Is there anyway to send the Phelps goofballs to Cal. Berkeley to play with code pink?

Maybe hand out sharp objects to both groups, sit along the sidelines with assault weapons to keep the FUN contained, eat some popcorn and enjoy the show.

The liens against the "church's" real property will eventually be enforced as well as a claim against their income stream. The Phelps cult surely long ago gave up any claim to real property and today exists on cash given to the "church".

They subsist on cash gifts (notwithstanding the protestations of their in house counsel), having surrendered any claim to real property assets. When the cash gifts are attacked, as they surely will be, the ugly game they play is over.

Some things done in the name of free speech indeed personally sicken me. However, the First Amendment is such an inmportant part of the contract between Americans and their government, that the First Amendment deserves to be defended no matter how awful the expression is.

The bizarre personality cult run by Fred Phelps certainly represents some sheeplike followers with absolutely no real religious discretion or works of the Holy Spirit operating in their lives. People more in touch with God simply don't join a church like this.

I have no personal answer for the Fred Phelps problem. I only know that what he and his followers do is morally wrong.
