This report pretty much echoes my own sentiment after watching Palin last night. She's a great little Teleprompter reader, and she reads the stand-up comedy one-liners fed to her by the McCain speech writing team like a champ, but other than her ability to smirk on cue there wasn't much to brag about in her speech - just 'more of the same' attack lines, interspersed with 'more of the same' applause lines.

The Democrats have no one to blame but themselves and 'helpful' media.
Obama never got publicly vetted early. It took a protracted dog fight with the Clintons to bring out the truth about Obama. He's far more an extremist than a moderate and he tried to stealth that past the mainstream public.
If the media wasn't in love with the possibility of pawning this guy off on the public, Democrats would have found someone else to put their votes and energy behind.
They felt because of the negativity of Bush they could afford to pander to their extremists and buffalo the main public enough to get someone who is an extremist in office.
This situation was taylor made for McCain to swoop in and collect Democratic voters. And each vote from a Democrat is worth two Republican voters who decide to stay at home. :/

"...a real American hero"
The only heroes are dead. McCain made a propaganda tour of DRV and gave interviews to Warsaw Pact and Cuban newspapers, as well as over 30 radio telecasts while a POW. He also ID'd his ship and its special nomenclature and named the officers by rank and title. All contrary to Code of Conduct. There is no confirmation of him ever being tortured. In fact he was isolated with US defectors and deserters except for the first 3 weeks (before he let it be known to his captors his special value as a prize catch (admiral's son) in return for medical treatment.
So: McCain is a time bomb for the GOP. The Democratic candidate might be running virtually unopposed by time the ads are circulation.
And Cindy the charity embezzler. Oy!

I concur with Maggie. Sources Please! I've seen McCain's supposed treason mentioned several times in other places but with absolutely NO supporting information, not even lousy, low quality information or vaguely founded rumors. Where are the veterans that were there? Where are copies of the radio announcements, these propaganda tapes etc? I'm not a McCain fan or supporter, but want truth.

He stood the watch.
He wore the Flag on his uniform, on his plain and in his soul.
He does not need to wear because he is it. He stood on that field of battle. He shed the red blood and his valor is on questioned.
He would not sit in church and hear G D America or be friend with someone who tried to blow up LE and Military members.
I may not like all of his views but one does not doubt he loves and respects this country. He is a true PATRIOT
As people get to Know Obama I think McCain will continue to do better.
Maybe Obama refuse to wear it.

My link contained an embedded link to direct C-SPAN (1993)coverage of McCain freaking out when questioned about why he insisted on keeping relevant MIA/POW files strictly classified. I stand by it.
It also contained arch-conservatives Bob Smith (R-NH) and B-1 Bob (R-CA) questioning McCain's motives.
Anyway, here's the recent WaPo article/trickle. Quite revealing to military men, even if it requires reading somewhat between the lines for civilians, i.e. McCain's diarrhea of the mouth and apparent comfort and egoism in disallowed settings (outside facilities).

BryanD.
I have disagreements with some of McCains
politics, I don't question his time as a
POW. He is physically disabled from the
torture he experienced as a POW. Unless
you are alleging he is either pretending,
or purposely allowed himself to have nearly
every bone in his body to be broken.
Apparently you have never been around veterans
of war to understand their temperaments after
the fact, and their reactions in civilian life.
My father was a veteran of two theatres of war
in WW2, and my husband is a 100 percent
disabled viet nam veteran, and it's different
in the way they view life from civilians.
Now...where are your sources that verify your
accusations, and I mean legitimate documents
and not somebody's opinion or editorial.
