Huckabee kisses his veep dreams goodbye

And all with one little quote:

During a speech before the National Rifle Association convention Friday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky, former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee -- who has endorsed presumptive GOP nominee John McCain -- joked that an unexpected offstage noise was Democrat Barack Obama looking to avoid a gunman.

"That was Barack Obama, he just tripped off a chair, he's getting ready to speak," said the former Arkansas governor, to audience laughter. "Somebody aimed a gun at him and he dove for the floor."

Way to go, asshat. Real classy. Joke about someone trying to kill one of your political opponents. Douchebag.

1. I hope that this squashes his VP chances. Permanently. And removes him from future consideration, too.

2. I truly don't understand how he could have that this would be perceived as humorous in any way. Can anyone explain any context that this could be considered funny?

Thank God Huckster made such an idiotic statement.
I don't want him anywhere near the White House.
This should nix any hope he has for VP.

Osama Hussein '57' is a black man from Chicago, proof positive he was ducking for cover at a very young age, and probably carrying his own '9' since he turned nine.

You know if this is a joke about killing your political opponent, Barack Obama would be the only man I know to die from someone pointing a gun at him. The joke was meant to imply that Obama was nervous around Guns. It came off poorly and it was done on the spur of the moment and Huckabee apologize (apparently for some reason, you didn't find this worth mentioning.)

Alan Orfi:

Huckabee has stated numerous times he does not want the VP nomination. He would never accept it because it is a lose-lose proposition. He will continue to build his conservative coalition and make a much stronger run for the presidency in 2012. After 4 years of liberalism in the White House, our country will be ready for a hard turn to the right.

I cannot believe that the media is making such a big deal about this. To me, it was good humor and if anyone felt hurt or thought that is was inappropriate, then it is their own problem. I really thought it was a great comment (joke) and I got a good laugh from it.

If Obama didn't like it, then he has a bigger problem than just lacking the talent, skills, knowledge or experience to become our President.

Off the cuff, perhaps, but Huckabee has to realize that this is the kind of crap that will come back to haunt him in 2012.

I hope this does torpedo Huckabee's chances of a VP slot, because we don't need a twit like Huckabee in office.

Alan Orfi:

You do realize that we are stuck with a blueblood as our nominee because of idiots like you who torpedoed conservative candidates like Mike Huckabee.
