The latest gaffe from the Democratic campaign trail.
SUNRISE, Fla. -- At first, it seemed as if Barack Obama might just be speaking figuratively, as is his wont sometimes. "How's it going, Sunshine? Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you everybody. It's good to be in Sunshine!" Obama declared on taking the stage this afternoon for a rally at the BankAtlantic Arena in Broward County, Fla., just west of Ft. Lauderdale. As far as misstatements on the campaign trail goes, this only registers if you are a resident of Broward County Florida.(Which I'm not) Obama's mistake is probably a result of campaign fatigue. It's Friday, I must be in Florida or is it Arkansas today? Like Elliot Gould said in Capricorn One, he'd like someone to explain him the difference between Holiday Inns in Wichita and Winnemucca or something like that.Obama, who often comments admiringly on the climate and regional aura of his various destinations, may simply have been evoking the warmth of the Sunshine State, which he campaigned in for the first time this week after staying away for months to observe the Democratic Party's primary ban against the state. Or perhaps it was a term of endearment, similar to his recent (and later regretted) use of "sweetie" in speaking to a woman reporter.
But then he said it again, and again -- "When we are unified sunshine, nobody can stop us!" -- and it became clear: Obama thought he was in Sunshine, Fla. But he was not. He was in Sunrise, the name given to this particular swath of South Florida palm trees, bungalows and outlet stores.
If the 16,000 in attendance noticed, they didn't make it known.

Maybe was thinking of that old musical Little Mary Sunshine. Seriously, I wonder if the Black Rand McNally even knows why Sunrise is so named?

Now that the spotlight is on him, besides the fact he has an empty resume, he is showing he isnt very attentive to details, and, oh yeah, his Inner Muslim came out when he admitted to 57 states.
Ferraro was right!

If McCain used the wrong name, Obama would use the 'losing bearings' remark, and the MSM would suggest that McCain suffers from Alzheimer's.

I don't much like Obama, I think he's an empty suit - but the EternaCampaign has GOT to be a damn trying endurance run, rather like a Depression-Era dance marathon. We're watching to see who collapses first, and slavering over the details.
I actually feel sorry for both of them. Not very sorry - because they're inflicting it on themselves (and us in the process) but it's not something you really want to see happen to anyone - political leanings notwithstanding.

So, we excuse BHO for mis-naming a city? What happens when, after a marathon of Defense Dept briefings, he sends bombers to the wrong town in the wrong nation that sounds or seems to be spelled "like" Iraq... but isn't?

Barak "Quayle" Obama. Worse, really.
Another possibility--the son of a bitch just talks way too much. He epitomizes the phrase "he's in love with the sound of his own voice."
Champ, take a breath.

In fact, I'm sure he did. It's lonely in outer space.

"Latest gaffe" huh? Man, you sure called him out on this one.
Hey clowns: Obama forgets the name of probably the 2,000th town he's visited in the last month.
John McCain states Al Qaeda is being funded and trained by Iran, and also wouldn't mind if our troops were there another 100 years.
You know what, fuck it, nevermind. I don't even know what to say to you idiots.
Man that whole Sunshine/Sunrise thing is going to come back to haunt Obama in November.

Ryan, Democrats have been making continual comments about Bush being stupid because of gaffes like Obamas ... but all of the sudden Obama has an excuse?
More like the tactic was always stupid and we hit a nerve when we apply it to twits like Obama.
And that's all you got? Not impressive, Ryan.

An Obama fan calling US clowns! That's rich. At least we're not voting for one this year like you are. Do you have one of those Messiah posters on the wall in your room, or did your Mommy make you take it down?
