It's not all too often I have something in common with a person in the news.
FORT LAUDERDALE - Yazmany Arboleda is a New York artist with South Florida ties who has achieved a big goal at age 27: People are talking about his provocative work.I've never viewed performance art up front, but from what I have read about it, I'm not impressed.Arboleda's 24-hour exhibit in a midtown Manhattan storefront, The Assassination of Hillary Clinton and The Assassination of Barack Obama, drew investigators from the U.S. Secret Service, media coverage and public outcry on newspaper Web sites.
"It is not a publicity stunt," Arboleda said by phone Thursday afternoon from the West 40th Street space he says he rented for $5,000. "It's about character assassination, images and words used against these candidates. There is no violence, weapons or blood."
On Wednesday morning, a 911 call alerted the New York Police Department about a banner with the show's title. The word "assassination" prompted officers to interview Arboleda.
Then they brought him to the Midtown South precinct for more questions from the city's counter-terrorism unit and the U.S. Secret Service. The questioning, Arboleda said, lasted three hours.
"He was allowed to go forward and no criminality was determined," said NYPD spokesman Officer Martin Brown. "No summonses were issued. He was not arrested. His First Amendment rights were upheld."
What do I have in common with this 'artist'?
Born in Boston, Arboleda is a 2000 graduate of Deerfield Beach High SchoolWe're both former DBHS Bucks. I checked DBHS with wikipedia, and our most famous graduates include two football players, two pornographic actresses, a gospel musician and one poker player.(No mention of a Correspondence Chess Master who doubles as a blogger) Wizbang readers will have to research actresses Teri Weigel and Charlotte Stokely on their own.
Try again Yazmany Arboleda. You still have time to be DBHS most famous graduate.

I have to say, I don't approve of this any more than I approved of that film about President Bush. Yeah, I know, free speech, and yes he does have that right, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
BTW: Teri Weigel? You're talking about that gal from Reno 911?

"It's about character assassination"
It's so cute, how many leftists react when people start telling the whole truth about their candidates. Things the "mainstream" press would never report like the actual things the candidates have said and done, votes they've cast, causes for which they fought, people with whom they've worked or otherwise associated, organizations to which they belong or support, ect.
It's true, telling the whole truth about a leftist politician often amounts to "character assination", but is that wrong?
I guess maybe they think we should just take only what the candidates are currently saying as 100% gospel truth, and ignore everything else. Hell, even I could almost vote for some Democrats if I did that. I don't disagree with everything they say (even though what they say is often so vague as to be meaningless) but I sure don't believe most of it. I prefer to look at the totality of the person.

No its Teresa(Teri) Weigel. She went to DBHS the same time I did.(She was born in 1962, my year of birth is 1961) There are pictures of her in my senior yearbook.
The athletic director at the time was William Weigel. I wonder if he was her father.

Bill,
Porn actress and California governor candidate Mary Carry was from Forth Lauderdale. (She went to FAU in Boca)
A friend from Boca can name three girls he went to high school with that went into porn. Must be something about the area.
Anyway, back on the real topic.
The double standard is horrible, films about assassinating Bush are ok. This is not. Putting a crucifix in urine is art, just claiming someone put a Koran in the toilet is a horrible offense to the same people.
