Updated and Bumped: They did it again - the second time in two weeks. Apparently copyright laws are among the laws easily ignored by the McCain camp. Third Update: They did it again and now they're being sued.

I suspect Clay was being sarcastic when he made his remark, and ODA and Bill tossed in their own responses (ODA with a bit of their own sarcasm) after missing it in Clay's.

Well, it is a possibility. Just not about all things at all times. However, in this matter, I am absolutely brilliant. Let me boil it down for the unenlightened: If any statement places a negative adjective in the immediate proximity of Obama's name (or negatively misuses his name: Obauble, Obamessiah, for examples) it is racist. In the case of DaveD, it was unfortunate that he placed poor adjacent to Barack, making his statement an indisputably racial denigration.
Oh, one other thing: Although it is his middle name, the use of Hussein in the same sentence as Barack or Obama is grievously racist. I mean, you know what you're trying to do in that instance.
Just trying to help everyone get through the next few months. If you follow these simple rules, we'll have no problems. Any questions?

Clay, people do use his middle name to create negative connotation. When Ann Coulter says it over and over again, she does so knowing that the morons that pay attention to her associate Hussein (probably one of the most common names in the world) with evil brown people. Did people use Kerry's middle name very much?
Whether or not you're a racist (not, I believe), you can't pretend that "Hussein" has the same significance as, I dunno, "William"; or that that significance has nothing to do with race/ethnicity.

You're just being a child. I know it's his name. I also know that conservatives/Republicans/fascists (e.g. Coulter) love to use it so much because of who/what the dregs of their base typically associate it with--specifically, Saddam Hussein, or more generally, Muslims.
Are you denying that? Do you really think Coulter et al (you?) aren't just race-baiting when they say Barry Hussein, or B. Hussein Obama? That's all it is. He has no more in common with terrorists than John McCain does, yet this is obviously a childish attempt at persuading people to the contrary.
