Obama has a history of being ardently against guns. For example, look at this questionnaire he filled out showing us his anti-gun agenda from the Politico:

Of course, now that the DC handgun ban has been overturned, Obama's singing a different tune. He wants us to believe that he just loves the Second Amendment, and would never want to take guns away from honest Americans! Unfortunately for him, though, not everyone's sipping the Obamamessiah Kool-Aid. He seems to think that everyone is so enamored of him, that they won't bother looking at what he's said in the past.
Take this video from Hot Air, for example:
See, in today's politics, there's this newfangled thing called the internet. It means that millions of Americans are able to do their own research, separate from the biased and shoddy reporting done by the mainstream media, and that your ultra-liberal background won't just quietly fade away with no one the wiser. If you're the most liberal Senator in Washington, we're going to know about it. But of course, what can Obama do except lie about where he stands? He has to run on an empty vehicle of HOPE! and CHANGE! because if Americans knew just how liberal he really is, he knows he'd never win. So it's spin, spin, spin for Obama.
So when it comes to guns, what's the answer for Obama? That he was for the unconstitutional handgun ban in Washington, D.C. before he was against it? Sorry, buddy. That didn't cut it in 2004. And it's not gonna cut it now.

It's just Obama's chickens coming home to roost. You would think that after 20 plus years under Wright's mentorship Obama would know better than to let them chickens out in the first place. When asked such questions he should just talk about hope and change (as in hope the guy changes the question). Hey, if you're an empty suite you should only give empty answers suitable for all the air head voters.

On looking at the video a second time it's apparent that Obama has been caught in a lie by the dictionary definition of a lie, which is to make an "untruthful statement with the intention to deceive." This is not a mistake because the reporter reminded him of his prior position. Obama lied to the American public, but I doubt any of the MSM reporters will call him out on it.

The good news is that the information about his blatant attempts to squelch the Second Amendment and people's rights to self defense and firearms in the past is getting more and more airtime... Not on the MSM venues, of course, but there are a plethora of weblogs documenting it thoroughly out there.
And there is one thing for certain - a zebra can never change its stripes. If people think that his stances have really changed on topics like firearms, they are completely and utterly daft.

Brian says "There is no difference in how they're running."
That's obviously nonsense. They're running very different styles of campaigns and Obama's lie significantly undermines his style. Flip flops and lies by McCain fit better within his maverick persona and his issue orientated style, and thus, they are less damaging. It's what McCain's supporters expect. You can't say the same of Obama's supporters, some of whom will be devastated when they come to realize Obama is just a throwback to the corrupt machine made Chicago politicians of the past.

Meaningless statements, but nevertheless, effective with the air head crowd. The same crowd that accuses Bush of lying. Well, now that Obama is a proven liar, all hope for not having a liar in the White house has vanished.
You're pretending like that's not significant, but it won't fly. Changing the subject to "McCain is also a liar" doesn't change the fact that Obama has just shot himself in the foot. It's ironic that Obama would wound himself over the 2nd amendment.

So being a "maverick" inherently involves flip flops and lies, and yet he embraces this label. And McCain's supporters expect him to flip flop and lie, so he accommodates them by doing so. But this should be taken as "less damaging" to him because it's expected.
Please, write McCain's staff, and suggest that as a new campaign position.
"My friends, you want flip flops and lies, and I give them to you. But my opponent's supporters do not expect him to lie, and yet he does too. Therefore, I'm the better candidate."

McCain already uses the essence of that statement in his campaign. It's simply stated as Experience. You said it yourself "Politicians pander. They lie. Get over it.", so why are you now acting surprised when that's what supporters of McCain have come to expect from any "experienced" politician? Obama is not running on his experience. He's running on Hope and Change and as being some different kind of politician. The point is that Obama's lie is far more damaging than some equivalent lie by McCain. At least be intellectually honest enough to get the campaign slogans right.
One of the things Obama supporters hope to change is getting the truth from the president. Is that not so? You think they're ok with electing a liar because McCain is also a liar? McCain's supporters have no such illusions as we know that "Politicians pander. They lie", and we got over it long ago.

If you have a gun you can still decide to submit, but you can also decide to fight. Waiting until you know the exact circumstances before you commit to a course of action is the wiser move.
