President Bush Approval Poll

Time for another one, real simple with just three questions:

1. Yes or no, is President Bush doing a good job as President right now (ignoring everything but right now)?

2. Yes or no, has President Bush overall done a good job as President?

3. If the election this fall were between Barack Obama, John McCain, or George W. Bush (say he could run for a third term), who of the three would you vote for?

The other two really made it no choice but Bush. We're all in deep doo doo anyway if the democrats keep control of congress. Doing something about gas prices (promised in 2006) means doubling/tripling them to a democrat congress critter. Destroying the economy to get another hit on Bush is what they consider patriotic.

NO. (a no-brainer answer, unless you think giving in to North Korea, sitting idly by while Iran develops nukes, pressuring Israel to continue making concessions to terrorists, not revoking the executive order on offshore drilling (symbolism sure, but needed nonetheless), and relying on gimmicky tax rebates as one's sole effort in reinvigorating the economy count as doing a good job).

NO. (see above, plus add the too-many-too-count other instances of incompetence, failure to effectively take on the Democrats, handicapping our anti-terrorist efforts, presiding over the worst rout of the GOP in modern times, and so on that have marked his presidency)

McCain. (not that there's much difference between him and obama but I'd hate to see the liberals get anything to cheer about come November. As for Bush, I'd almost rather see Kerry... Gore... Dukakis).

President Bush is a real man, willing to do the hard work, make the tough choices and live with the consequences. If my home is being threatened by a dangerous intruder, I want a man who will do whatever it takes to protect and defend his home, not some diplomat who thinks that he can talk the intruder into going away.

Just a thought, but I think the questions would yield more interesting results if done on a scale of, say, 1-10 on the first two questions.

Yes.

Yes, Mr. Bush is a good and faithful patriot who has stood as a man beneath the deluge of baseless abuse heaped blindly by lesser being.

Not suggesting that we should have third terms for our presidents, but in the context of this exercise, I can only answer that indeed I would vote for the best and most qualified person among these offered and that would be George W. Bush.

Look at the statistics on the National debt.

Under Bush the spending is spiraling more and more out of control.

1. No. Two words -- gas prices. Two more -- falling dollar.
2. No. Worst POTUS since Carter. Fought WoT with too small a military. Won't stand up to Iran, Syria, North Korea, Venezuela, Mexico, enviro-nazis, etc. Won't secure our borders. Won't force drilling.
3. McCain. As bad as Bush has been, there is no one on the Dem side who would be anything but exponentially worse. And Barack Obama is the worst of the worst.

Diane C. Russell:

1. No.
2. No. He refused to control spending and the growth of government. He has shown his utter contempt for the Bill of Rights, including but not limited to his approval of the MaCain-Feingold assault on the First Amendment. He has failed to keep Republican officials in line. He has failed to enforce the immigration laws. I could go on and on, but most people don't really want to hear about Bush's failures and repeated craven betrayal of his one-time supporters.

3. Barr. Obama is a hopeless socialist. McCain is a lying oath-breaker who does not believe in the Constitution or rule of law or in the rights of others. He'll say whatever he thinks might get him elected, then do whatever he damn well pleases. Of all the major presidential candidates we've seen in recent decades, McCain is the scariest and most likely to try to become a dictator.

It is an incredibly hard job and I think GW is getting tired.
If McCain would embrace some of Georges style and policy instead of distancing himself from Bush, he would pick up a little more respect from those of us who still think Mr. Bush has done a decent job.

Steve Crickmore:

When he travels around the country, Bush feels less "antipathy" than he used to in the crowds, along the motorcade routes, and expressed by the individuals who talk to him at his events. "He feels there has been a shift in attitudes out there that's not reflected in polling data," the aide says.

Maybe they are just losing interest but it is not for want of trying
