Trick shot

This is the best headline I read in Ages-

Woman Shoots Herself While Trying to Kill Mice

LMAO. She didn't just shoot herself either

The 43-year-old woman pulled out her .44-caliber Magnum revolver after she saw the mice scurrying across the floor of her trailer on Highway 20 in Potter Valley, sheriff's officials said.

But she accidentally dropped the gun, which went off as it struck the floor. The bullet went through the woman's kneecap, bounced off the keys sitting on the belt loop of a 42-year-old man in the trailer and grazed the man's groin before ending up in his coin pocket.

Fox News reported the mouse escaped unharmed. While I'm a gun owner(I inherited mine from my late father. The only time I used a firearm was during my Navy training), I'm ambivalent on gun control. Today's story being an example of people who shouldn't be near firearms. Trying to shoot a mouse is the definition of overkill.

Stating that a Magnum ought not be used for pest control is an abridgement of the Second Amendment, Bill. What exactly is your problem with freedom?

Mac Lorry:

Ok, the woman dropped the gun and we know what happened. What I would like to know is what did she think would happen if she had shot at the mouse? Assuming it's not Mighty mouse, a 44 mag would go through the mouse and likely through the wall or floor and then who knows where. Maybe she used the 44 mag because it's the end of the week and she was out of hand grenades.

Paden Cash:

Based on the fact that she dropped the firearm, I postulate her marksmanship is no better than her gun handling skills. That said, a shotgun would have been a better rodent control device. It also puts larger holes in the wall, making it easier for surviving rodents to make good an escape.

I'm with GarandFan in thinking there's a lot more to this 'story' than was told to the officers and paramedics that showed up.

Wayne:

Just my speculations her, but I bet the caliber was misstated for one, probably a 45 or at least a 45 shell in a 44 Magnum if not something completely different. I also suspect it was an accident that had nothing to do with a mouse.

To use this as an example for gun control legislation would be ridiculous. There was a guy around here that fell into a corner of a building while taking a leak. He hit s sharp outcrop and cut his throat and almost died. Should we pass legislation dealing with that? People do stupid stuff sometimes.
