Video of the Day

Best quotes:

As a conservative Republican, I believe that WAR SUCKS! Oh, but there are things that suck way worse than war, y'all. Slavery, genocide, tyranny... peace through strength, y'all!

As a conservative Republican, I believe that if we're smart enough to earn the money, we're smart enough to spend it.

As a conservative Republican, I'm proud of my country. I'm proud that our country is seen as the place that, if you want the best chance to realize your dream, it's the place to come to. Nah, man, I don't think we're better than anybody else. It's America! We are everybody else!

Couldn't have said it better myself. Is there any clearer description of the ideals upon which this nation was founded?

Why are you a Republican?

Maybe his family attend some church where the members tend to vote Republican because of social issues like abortion or Gay rights. There are many Republican voters of this sort in the party who no doubt are opposed to war or other issues on morality grounds yet tend to vote Republican.

Wizbang doesn't seem to have any Christian Conservatives on the writing staff to explain this, only more ideological oriented Republicans or other Conservatives. Bill is interesting because he's a Conservative Democrat. And Jay is a sort of Libertarian.

Yet another example of the measure of self absorption and naval gazing emanating from Blue.

SCSIwuzzy, you may have to dial down the subtlety for Paul to get it.

I'm serious about this. Christian conservatives are a large wing of the Republican Party, but not really represented here on Wizbang by any author. Wizbang is well represented by many more secular oriented conservatives, but there isn't really a true Christian conservative currently writing on the staff.

And by the way, GMAC, no Christian conservative uses language like STFU, by the way.

It's really a shame when I make an important and valid point like this that I only draw a bunch of arrogant comments instead of some Christian conservative stepping forward and spending some time joining the Wizbang staff and writing some posts that represent that viewpoint.

I remember when another conservative website, Polipundit had some important morality question posts on the Terri Schiavo controversy or abortion. But I've never seen any such posts here. I can actually find many areas where I respect many Christian conservatives because of their deep soul searching for serious moral answers to many issues and their inner sense of compassion.

Over on Blue, the liberal and progressive wing of the Wizbang Network, liberalism has strong traditions that grew out of faith to respect the dignity of man and address poverty and other issues out of moral concerns. But what I find so shocking among self-styled "conservatives" commenters here on Wizbang is a an indefinite system of values that seems hardline in ideology and often lacks any sense of compassion towards the poor or other critical areas that Christian conservatives or liberals both share concerns for.

In Oregon, a large part of the draw of Republican Senator Gordon Smith is his faith which leads him towards a compassionate vote on many issues. This compassion impresses many liberals as well, who are likely to cross party lines and support him in November.

What utter garbage. That explains why so many people get banned over there, doesn't it? Disagreement and free speech sure ain't one of those 'liberal' traditions allowed over in the Blue, is it? Frankly, Blue reminds me much more of the old USSR - you have a choice of repeating the party line, staying silent, or you pitiful little commissars will 'disappear' those who dissent.

So forgive me if I don't see your 'progressive' and 'liberal' censorship and stifling of dissent as being something of great worth. I think you spend far too much time patting yourselves on the back and congratulating yourselves for being ever so wonderfully tolerant and compassionate, while ignoring just how very narrow-minded, intolerant, angry and parochial you actually are, and screaming about how others are so horribly hate-filled while ignoring all the hate you seem to have for anyone who dares not agree with the 'progressive' philosophy you espouse.

And the wierd thing is - you actually don't see it. It's a massive blind spot you find ways to accomodate or excuse without even noticing you're doing so. You don't believe you're anything other than wonderful and wise and tolerant, and can't comprehend why others don't see you as such.

When you assume the only one you make look like an ass is yourself Hosoon. Show me where I made the claim I was a Christian. You're a vacuous self absorbed assuming twit Hosoon, now shut the fuck up.
