The buzz in the blogosphere today is how well John McCain did in Rick Warren's presidential forum. The Obama campaign must be really concerned about this because in response, the campaign is now accusing John McCain of cheating. Yes, you read that correctly. Obama's camp is accusing McCain of cheating, and Andrea Mitchell is running with it. From MSNBC via NewsBusters:
(Videotape)SEN. JOHN McCAIN (R-AZ): Defeat it. Couple of points. One, if I'm president of the United States, my friends, if I have to follow him to the gates of hell, I will get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. I will do that and I know how to do it. I will get that done.
(End videotape)
MR. GREGORY: Andrea Mitchell, that's a pretty clear contrast.
MS. ANDREA MITCHELL: Oh, absolutely. And, you know, there was the crisp, immediate, forceful response by John McCain, clearly in a comfort zone because he was with his base. And Barack Obama, taking a risk in going there but seeing an opportunity. And a much more nuanced approach. The Obama people must feel that he didn't do quite as well as they might have wanted to in that context, because that--what they're putting out privately is that McCain may not have been in the cone of silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama.
MR. GREGORY: Right.
MS. MITCHELL: He seemed so well prepared.
Unbelievable. Barack Obama got his ass handed to him last night because he is a light weight and that's it. There is no other reason, and for his camp to completely malign Senator McCain's honor and integrity is just plain offensive.
According to the Obama camp John McCain couldn't possibly have had a great night because he was able to call on his deep bench of knowledge that's a result of a lifetime of experience in government and military service and international relations. No. According to Obama, that couldn't possibly be the case. It has to be that he cheated.
How utterly pathetic.
But, you know, Obama can keep up this charade that he's in the same league as McCain and then toss insults when he fails to measure up because it will illustrate even more that Obama is about as qualified to be President of the United States as Bozo the Clown.
Update: Betsy Newmark reminds us that it was Andrea Mitchell who carried Obama's water without question back when he found himself in trouble for not visiting the troops in Germany.
Update II: Rick Warren responds to the Obama camp's accusations and says McCain didn't hear any of the interview between Warren and Obama.

McCain had a good night at Warren's church. I particularly liked the setup where the second participant did not hear the first's answers. I would bet this format will be repeated.
NBC has been carrying Obama's water for months; nothing they say surprises me, although Kim's post is yet another example of the legacy media circular conversation.
What the Obama campaign should be worried about is that McCain had a good night, not a great night. He simply looked great in comparison to who he followed.
Obama is an stunningly avuncular empty suit and the fist pounding on the table that everyone hears (but pretends not to) is Bill and Hillary telling the DNC "I told you so".

This is Obama's campaign manager preparing the "battlefield" for the major post-convention debate. Obama's MSM friends not only will slant the questions against McCain, they will make sure Obama has the questions ahead of time so he can memorize speech answers. If McCain points this out, they will simply claim that McCain is accusing them of doing what he did earlier. It's classic Alinsky strategy -- accuse your opponent of doing underhanded stuff that you are already doing.

Oh my, oh my...so very true. But, they can't feign deafness much longer. The honest Democrats are all muttering, "What in hell have we done?", the others are still denying that the One is naked. I'm looking forward to November, as well as the space in between. This is going to get very interesting indeed.

Why didn't O'Dumbo just give McCains answers, he went first. McCain didn't answer one question with a different answer. He's spent his life giving the same answers he gave last night because that is what he really believes. O'Dumbo believes in nothing that doesn't benefit him personally, and knows less about America and the world than the average 4th grade student. Someone or several someone's should go under O'Dumbo's bus for not wising up the Messiah. O'Dumbo has spent his life pissing down people's back and telling them it's raining. That's a news story right there.
BHO said, in answer to the "wisest person" question, his wife and grandmother. Is he pandering to the Hillary female voters, where he is weak? After acquiescing to a roll call vote? Is he worried about that demographic?
This type of analysis has become too easy and the legacy media's refusal to look into it is further evidence of a total sellout for BHO.

When McCain's Paris Hilton and Moses ads came out even Republican pundits didn't understand the purpose, but now that they have been so effective, they finally get it. Those ads targeted the ridiculousness of celebrity status for a political candidate. Striped of that status, Obama has to run on his ideas, his positions on the issues, and his character. The Warren debate demonstrates that Obama is out of his league. It's the old one two punch.
