This just crossed Drudge. From CBS News:
John McCain's campaign office in Denver, Colorado, has received a letter containing a threat and "an amount of white powder in it," a McCain campaign spokesman told CBS News' Michelle Levi."We immediately notified local and federal law enforcement agencies and are looking to cooperate with them," McCain spokesman Jeff Sadosky said.
McCain's Manchester, New Hampshire office received them as well.
I'll post updates as soon as I get them.

The heading would make more sense if you said the McCain office "received" an envelope...

And we all know that within hours, DU and DailyKos will be filled with noxious posts kinda like this:
"Obviously it was some left wing-nut who spends all day listening to Air America's vile hate programming, urging abortionists everywhere to kill innocent babies. DAMN YOU AL FRANKEN -- DAMN LEFT WING TALK RADIO -- THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT."

I sure hope the Feds nap this joker but fast for using the public mail system for this sort of childish criminal nonsense. There's no place in a democracy for this sort of criminal foolishness or election intimidation that potentially puts postal carriers or election volunteers at risk.

Funny, you'd have a hard time catching this on the news right now.
I have trouble believing that if this happened to Obama's campaign, you could escape the near 24/7 coverage for the next 3 days.

Damn right, Paul. Argument, heated debate, even the childishness every side displays at some point or another is tolerable and an acceptable part of democracy. Any intimidation, whether this incident, or others that I *know* some are itching to point out in the other direction, are inexcusable.

John, It turned out the wacko that sent the letters was already a prisoner and now potentially faces serious federal charges. Many in prisons suffer from mental health problems and this is exhibit A in that regard. Normal folks playing with a full deck don't do stuff like this.
