Why I Like Palin

I think I've figured out why I like Sarah Palin so much, so quickly. It's a variety of reasons.

First up, she reminds me more than a little of my friend Candy. Both are devout Christians, strong-willed women, handy with a firearm, about the same age, mothers of three daughters and two sons, and there is more than a little physical resemblance. When I first started looking at pictures of Palin, I had to call Candy and say "our next veep could be your cousin, or maybe even sister!" She told me later that her husband agreed.

Secondly, Palin has gone out of her way to pander to me. Kindly compare this picture to this picture Candy once took of me at her home. In this era of identity politics, of ethnicity and ancestry trumping other considerations, I see that Governor Palin has reached out to us Nordic Americans (even those of us whose Nordic blood is diluted with English and (ugh) French taints), and it is my duty as a tiny-fraction Scandanavian to respond to that.

Finally, there is a long-secret link between Governor Palin and Wizbang, one so scandalous that it could never be revealed -- before now. She showered with a former Wizbang author -- and a male one at that -- on at least one and more likely on several occasions.

Rob Port, Wizbanger Guest Emeritus, also let me briefly guest-blog on his site for a week, when I wanted a "vacation" from being editor and just being an author, and boasts of having shared showers with the then Sarah Heath in their wild, impetuous youths.

Based on that, Rob stands to be either the most favored blogger in a McCain-Palin administration, or utterly frozen out.

So yeah, there are three good, solid, convincing reasons why I like Sarah Palin. All the rest -- the substantive stuff I've been tossing around the last couple of days -- are mere cover. After all, what do her list of accomplishments and positions matter when it comes to a woman who reminds me so much of my dear friend, likes Vikings, and shared showers with my blog-buddy?

Theres a difference between liking somebody and them being a good VP and potential president. I hope you take this into consideration.

Its good to see JT occasionally stooping to the level of the current onslaught of BS from the left on Gov Palin, and somehow making it both funny and a bitch slap on the face for them. It must have stung so hard that Dave hasn't really felt it yet (but then Dave isn't likely to "get it" ever].

epador,

There's a lot that remains to be seen before the dems have anything to worry about. Palin reminds me a bit of Harriet Miers, remember how that turned out! My prediction is Palin will stumble early. She will either make too many gaffs or get stumped when the media asks quetions on national issues.

Dave, Gov. Palin didn't cakewalk to the governorship. She took on an incumbent Republican governor, one of her own party's biggest names, and beat the snot out of him in the primary.

Then she took on a Democrat former governor, the state's most popular Democrat at the time, in the fall campaign -- and beat the snot out of him.

She maintains an 80% popularity rating in her home state.

I would have paid good money to see Harriet Miers accomplish anything even remotely like a shadow of any one of those things.

Well that settles it then, dave has spoken!

However I'd suggest you not keep a Palin vs Biden Gaff Meter I predict you'd be sadly disconsolate with the outcome.

I love what was said on Fox & Friends by one of the hosts this morning (I'm paraphrasing) "Anyone who can raise five children can certainly handle the Vice Presidency."

I am the mother of five kids, ranging in age from 7 to 22. I homeschool the 4 younger kids. I work both at home and outside the home, doing web design and teaching adult ed classes respectively.

Multi-tasking doesn't cover what moms do. We put out fires constantly. We think on our feet. Nothing works on schedule, but you manage.

I jokingly told my husband last night that the Vice Presidency would be a cakewalk compared to a typical week in my life - at least I'd have a STAFF! And an office. And a private bathroom. Wow - this is looking good.

Boy, I sure wish somebody would whisk me away to a save haven at the first sign of trouble. I had a backed-up toilet last week that was resistant to both the plunger AND the snake, and my husband was still 4 hours from arriving home.

You want something done? Give it to a busy mom.

GO SARAH!

Candy:

I have, once again, proven my skill with a firearm. A trip last weekend to Cabela's included Mom pumping two tokens into the shooting gallery, where I missed only one woodland creature's bullseye, successfully squirting my entire family with water. I also shot myself in the eye once, but I swear I planned that part.

JOSEPH STUCKEY:

DEMOCRAT'S (DEMON KRAP) ARE SCARED. THE HATEFULNESS IS COMMING OUT OF THEM BY ALL OF THE NEGATIVEISM. AS A LAST DITCH EFFORT THEY ARE TRYING TO BRING DOWN WHAT SHOULD PROVE TO BE ONE OF THE BEST THINGS TO HAPPEN TO AMERICA(SARAH PALIN AS VICE PRESIDENT) AND WHO KNOWS, MAYBE FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT IN A FEW YEARS.

THANKS SARAH FOR BEING A REAL PERSON, NOT A FAKE LIKE MOST OF THE LEFT.
