Oprah responds:
"The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."
And along with Oprah's statement, Drudge includes this photo of Obama being interviewed on Oprah's show.

I don't know when he was on the show, but if it was after he declared his candidacy for president, then she's made herself out to be a liar.
****
Oprah is an Obama girl, but you'd think as a brilliant business woman she'd take advantage of hosting Sarah Palin for the ratings bonanza, but she decided to walk away. Her staff, according to Drudge, is divided on the issue.
Update: Drudge has more information:
Oprah Winfrey may have introduced Democrat Barack Obama to the women of America -- but the talkshow queen is not rushing to embrace the first woman on a Republican presidential ticket!Oprah's staff is sharply divided on the merits of booking Sarah Palin, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
"Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on," an insider explains. "Oprah's website is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama."
One executive close to Winfrey is warning any Palin ban could ignite a dramatic backlash!
It is not clear if Oprah has softened her position after watching Palin's historic convention speech.
Last year, Winfrey blocked an appearance by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, timed to a promotional tour of his autobiography.
Oprah and executive producer Sheri Salata, who has contributed thousands of dollars to Obama's campaign, refused requests for comment.
Developing...
Oprah is turning into a political hack for Obama. Her viewers aren't going to allow her to separate her political self from her show self because Oprah's audience loves her because she's portrayed herself as being authentic, that she's one of them. If Oprah keeps this up, she may be seen as a fraud.
Lorie adds: Oprah's message boards are hopping!

The simple fact is Oprah is black first and everything else is second to that. There seems to be a lot of that in Black America... recall Marion Barry, it didn't matter to the Black majority in Washington DC that he was a crack smocking crook.. he was black... so they voted on color. You got hint of it with JC Watts when talking about Obama... he wont come out and say the guy is a mistake he all but endorses him, not because they share the same views on anything but because they are both black... With Oprah it isn't a surprise. If a homeless drunk just our of prison were running and he was black Oprah would be giving support. My only response is, not to watch Oprah or support anything she produces - take a stand against racists and say no to Oprah.

Here's the interesting look at this...
The story here is that the Republican VICE-Presidential Nominee is looked at as the same equal billing to the Democratic Presidential Nominee! Obama = Palin, Not Obama = McCain.
Why isn't she saying that she would have McCain on before Palin? She's not; she's saying that I will only have Obama (and Biden) on until after the election. This reveals that she doesn't care about being fair and balanced as she has been in years past.
This story and her TV ratings will be a great true indicator to see if Palin has begun to take a significant amount of the "women's vote". If the big O's ratings start to slip, then it could be an indicator to an upswing of McCain votes. Something to keep an eye on...

In her early days, I admired Oprah for her intelligence and business savvy. She was proof positive that there was no excuse that a black woman could be kept down if she chose to become successful. However, over the past few years, I've grown to dislike her because she's become a bit of a cult leader. I have some friends who do, unfortunately, never miss her show. I've tried to warn them off. It's sad that she chooses to wear her blinders and try to establish her own shaky opinions as solid fact. I really realized that about her during the Katrina mess. She sees what she wants to see. If I were Vice President Palin (yes, I said it), I wouldn't give Oprah the time of day!

I did read on Michelle Malkin's Hot Air that women are royally p***** that she's not for having Sarah on and they pulled no punches on her website's comments board. You should really go and read it. I haven't watched Oprah in years and I would never voluntarily do so anyway inasmuch as I have a life to live and work to do.
I did tell my husband that I think she's actually frightened of Sarah Palin because she's more than equal to her intelligence-wise and she's a bigger star than Oprah right now. Ergo, I think part of her not having her on is ego-driven. Oprah wants people clapping for and worshipping HER--not her guests. She knows any attempt she would try to make Sarah stumble wouldn't work either.
