Another Associate Obama Might Want to Disown

Erick Erickson has a must read post at RedState about Obama's attack on John McCain for the "Keating Five" and about another one of Obama's associates, Penny Pritzker, Obama's National Finance Chair and a long time supporter.

With Prtizker as Obama's fundraising chair, we can also see why there are questions about foreign nationals funding his campaign. Bad practices and improper bookkeeping seem rampant around Obama and his friends.

If Obama wants to go after McCain for something that happened more than a decade ago, we should remind everyone that Barack Obama counts among his friends (A) an unrepentant terrorist; (B) a convicted shady Syrian with ties to possible terrorists, that'd be Rezko; (C) a preacher who hates America; and (D) Penny Pritzker, a woman who brought down her bank because of bad business practices, bad record keeping, and sub-prime lending.

Obama will carry his friends to the White House. Can we afford them? I think not.

I wonder if Obama will try to claim Pritzker just lives in his neighborhood. Notice a pattern? Obama only disowns his questionable associates when they draw too much negative attention.

Read all of Erick's post. My favorite part is when he points out that Obama is attacking McCain for Keating while having another member of the Keating Five, John Glenn, campaign for him.

There were four dems plus McCain involved in the Keating 5 scandal. McCain has said that he made an error in judgement trying to help a major employer in Arizona, which is sorta his job from my POV. Glenn was reprimanded like McCain, the other three had their careers cut short.

dailykos has posted extensively on this subject, which is sorta stupid (what else) because if you want guilt by association, then Obama certainly qualifies given his relationship with Fannie, Freddie and the executives that ran them; all you have to do is follow the money.

Given the debacle of the S&L mess, I have asked several times if anybody learned anything from it. Considering what is going on now, apparently not.

So, Obama knows a woman who ran a bank into the ground. Tell us if there's a congressperson (especially Republican) who doesn't! Need you be reminded that Rick Davis is McCain's campaign chair? And his staff is a Fannie Mae-Freddie Mac lobbyist reunion? Together they arguably helped bring ALL of them down.

"I wonder if Obama will try to claim Pritzker just lives in his neighborhood", that would be tough, Pritzker lives in a massive mansion in Lincoln Park. Lincoln Park is further from Hyde Park than the UIC Library is from the Tribune Tower and that was too far for the Tribsters to travel.

Wow, what a surprise.
I suspect that this will be another non-issue in the rest of the media.
I have never seen anyone protected to the extent that Obama has been.

Secret, Foreign Money Floods Into Obama Campaign

Monday, September 29, 2008 9:23 PM

By: Kenneth R. Timmerman

More than half of the whopping $426.9 million Barack Obama has raised has come from small donors whose names the Obama campaign won't disclose.

And questions have arisen about millions more in foreign donations the Obama campaign has received that apparently have not been vetted as legitimate.

"Contributions that come under $200 aggregated per person are not listed," said Bob Biersack, a spokesman for the FEC. "They don't appear anywhere, so there's no way of knowing who they are."

The FEC breakdown of the Obama campaign has identified a staggering $222.7 million as coming from contributions of $200 or less. Only $39.6 million of that amount comes from donors the Obama campaign has identified.

It is the largest pool of unidentified money that has ever flooded into the U.S. election system, before or after the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reforms of 2002.

In response to an investigation conducted by blogger Pamela Geller, who runs the blog Atlas Shrugs, the Obama campaign has locked down the store.

Geller first revealed on July 31 that donors from the Gaza strip had contributed $33,000 to the Obama campaign through bulk purchases of T-shirts they had shipped to Gaza.

The online campaign store allows buyers to complete their purchases by making an additional donation to the Obama campaign.

A pair of Palestinian brothers named Hosam and Monir Edwan contributed more than $31,300 to the Obama campaign in October and November 2007, FEC records show.

Their largesse attracted the attention of the FEC almost immediately. In an April 15, 2008, report that examined the Obama campaign's year-end figures for 2007, the FEC asked that some of these contributions be reassigned.

The Obama camp complied sluggishly, prompting a more detailed admonishment form the FEC on July 30.

The Edwan brothers listed their address as "GA," as in Georgia, although they entered "Gaza" or "Rafah Refugee camp" as their city of residence on most of the online contribution forms.

According to the Obama campaign, they wrongly identified themselves as U.S. citizens, via a voluntary check-off box at the time the donations were made.

Many of the Edwan brothers' contributions have been purged from the FEC database, but they still can be found in archived versions available for CRP and other watchdog groups.

The latest Obama campaign filing shows that $891.11 still has not been refunded to the Edwan brothers, despite repeated FEC warnings and campaign claims that all the money was refunded in December.

A Newsmax review of the Obama campaign finance filings found that the FEC had asked for the redesignation or refund of 53,828 donations, totaling just under $30 million.

But none involves the donors who never appear in the Obama campaign reports, which the CRP estimates at nearly half the $426.8 million the Obama campaign has raised to date.

Hey Brian:

Remember what I said about McCain defining who Obama is?

In some of the harshest language yet, McCain said the campaign comes down to a simple question: Who is the real Barack Obama?

Again Brian, go back to Jimmy Carter's campaign in 1976 to see what this is all about. Carter too was the great unknown, the undefined one, the blank screen upon whom the adoring fans could write their own version of the truth. And look how that turned out. Obama is Carter redux, except Jimmy was at least somewhat honest, if inept when he got the job.

I think McCain gets it.

Yeah, we're just scrambling all over the internet trying to locate the corruption and greed surrounding Barack Obama. It's getting so much easier to find this stuff out about him, it's becoming ridiculous. Meanwhile, the Dems are still pointing at the "shiney objects", namely, "McCain's not really a war hero", "He left his wife for a younger woman", and "Look at the Keating Five dealie" (where McCain was exonerated and admitted to making a bad choice.)

Brian:

McCain said the campaign comes down to a simple question: Who is the real Barack Obama?

Of course. Because nothing else in the McCain campaign has worked yet, so that's what it comes down to this time. Until that also doesn't work, and then it comes down to something else.

This is his version of, "If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither on your side, pound the table."

We're watching McCain pound the table.

Frantic, dr lava? Hardly.

"There are a lot of voters out there with IQs around 80, this ad should be very effective with them." None of that on the left. Nope. Move along.

"I saw this kind of talk from you guys in 2006. Remember the anguish the day after the election?" As I remember, it was quite expected by the majority of us.

"You guys are exhibiting the same denial as you did in the fall of 2006." Same as above.

"Palin was clearly playing to the uniformed voter and the misinformed voter." Same as #1.

"The chickens is comin' home to roost."

Yep, some really hard-hitting commentary there. I guess you told us. How dare anyone on the right defend their own, show support or even say anything but "yassah" when you open your yap? It's difficult to describe how snobby and elitist you are. "Oh, you're a righty? You must be ignernt." Shove it, lava. It's no surprise you'd describe genuine concern as 'frantic'. I've never seen you make a single comment that wasn't degrading and specious. So tell me, what makes you think your so smart? Your ability to be an asshole?

That's a lousy spin, Brian, even for you. McCain didn't un-admit anything. His atty, John Dowd, said the hearings had "no merit".

"I understand why John feels the way he does," Dowd said. "This was an embarrassing and humiliating matter."

Dowd called the hearings a "political stunt," adding that Democratic leadership "colored the hearings."

McCain still feels the same way and never made a statement otherwise, his atty was speaking on his behalf with perspective on the whole situation. But of course in your view, a democrat would never set up a republican.
