McCain is narrowing the gap in the polls. They are still going back and forth and are extremely volatile and as DJ constantly reminds us, many of them are not worth a hoot anyway, but there is evidence that they are beginning to close. There is now a 3 point lead for Obama in the Gallup traditional poll of likely voters. If McCain does well tonight they will continue to tighten and the state polls will eventually follow. The last thing Republicans should be doing now is giving up or wallowing in despair. That is what those on the left want and that is what they will attempt to do with polls showing Obama with a large lead. Democrats still hold a big advantage, but this is far from over and things are slowly turning back McCain's way. McCain likes to come from behind. He has done it before and I think he can do it again if he plays things smart. After tonight we will know whether or not that is what he is going to do.
If you are a Republican who does not want Obama to win, volunteer at your county GOP headquarters to work a phone bank or work polls on election day. Contact all your friends and family and make sure they are going to get out and vote for McCain-Palin and for the Republican ticket. If you can, donate money to McCain-Palin and to Republicans running for the House and Senate. This Rightblogs Slatecard is a great place to find a list of deserving conservative candidates with a shot at winning.

Is it ok if I fill out my absentie ballot and send it in too? Then I don't have to worry about doing it on say - election day.
In Florida we have a slate of 13 presidential candidates.

Thanks, Lorie, good post. I've been reminding freinds and relatives that the race isn't over yet. I reminded them that McCain was written off early this year as unable to close the gaps in the polls and win the nomination. But, he kept working it, never giving up and won. That is one of the things I like about McCain and want in a president, the willingness not to give up when things look unwinnable.
I also recall, although my memories might not be accurate, that in 2000 and 2004 about a month from the election, there was no way Bush could win either. He pulled it off though. I haven't written off McCain and believe he still has about even odds to beat Obama.

Well, I certainly don't want the Snob to win. OTOH, I'm not a Republican, I dislike a number of things about the Republican platform, and I have little enthusiasm for McCain. What should I do?

We'll be doing the same as last election, working phone banks then working the polls election day. Hell, if just sweeping the floor would help, then here's your boy.

Republicans need a huge task force of lawyers that should pop in and out of voting precints all day and make their presence known by the lefty acorn activists on election day. Be ready to spam lawsuits. Make sure every LEGAL vote counts and start getting these illegal entries scrubbed. Start pushing for identification for voters and start confronting acorn at EVERY chance. I don't know how or who would do this, but this is what needs to be done. If the left wasn't cheating, these elections wouldn't be close. No "stolen" bush election, no claims about Ohio and voter irregularities like in 04,none of it. libs can't win without cheating, lets start hitting em where it hurts.

Our entire family (kids included) signed up today to do "literature drops" in our district. My college son and three of his friends signed up as well. So we're doing our part and we are not giving up.

Conservatives, why specifically have you always been so much against living in the Reality-Based World????
Here are the results of what I've been able to find for the last five polls coming out of Colorado (in reverse chronological order):
Obama + 10
Obama + 9
Obama + 6
Obama + 7
Obama + 4
And if you lose Colorado (and you will), you lose the election, as you're already notably behind in both New Mexico and Iowa. Heck, you're behind in Missouri, Florida, Virginia, Ohio and Nevada too!
You can run from reality, conservatives, but you can't escape it. You're going down, conservatives.
Deal with it.

OBAMA HAS BEEN CAMPAIGNING AGAINST PRESIDENT BUSH. WHY???
PRESIDENT BUSH RAN 4 YEARS AGO!
OBAMA HAS BASED HIS ENTIRE CAMPAIGN ON LIES. HE DOES HAVE TOO MANY TIES TO TERRORISTS AND ANTI-AMERICANS.
HE HAS LOST ALL CREDIBILITY.
I'M VOTING FOR THE HONORABLE JOHN McCAIN IN NOVEMBER.
