MSM? Not Any More

It's time the MSM get a new acronym that better suits what they actually do these days. Considering how they've worked over Joe Wurzelbacher, a private citizen who did nothing more than ask a simple question of a presidential candidate who walked through his neighborhood stumping for votes, I'd say KGB fits the bill.

Update: Mark Hemmingway at The Corner writes about many, many emails he's getting about the MSM's KGB's treatment of Joe the Plumber and his readers are not happy. Here's a portion of one letter:

I really don't like McCain. I'll probably vote for him just as a vote for divided government. I'm far too libertarian in my leanings to be comfortable with McCain (or Obama, for that matter).

That said, the way the pro-Obama media and bloggers, and Obama himself, have responded to Joe has got me nearly shaking with rage. They are attempting to destroy a man -- a private citizen -- who had the audacity to ask The One a question. Mind you, Joe was on his front lawn playing football with his son when Obama strolled up to give him his hopenchange spiel. Obama approached Joe, not the other way around. And Joe asked Obama an honest question. And Obama gave him an honest -- and very, very revealing -- answer. Again, mind you, the embarassment was on Obama's end, not Joe's. It wasn't a gotcha question.

I hope the media goes after him even more. I'm sure the American public will be impressed by their in-depth investigation of Joe. Tonight on Nightline they even pointed out that his name isn't Joe - it's Samuel Joseph.

Imagine the average joe, sitting in his living room watching Nightline, and seeing that. His reaction is going to be, what the hell? Why is THAT a big deal? My brother, cousin, uncle, dad is know as Dick, but his real name is William Richard.

Keep it up, media. You're doing a great job of pissing off millions of people.

It's far more accurate, and gets at what's wrong with modern "journalists" who pass on rumors and do "research" by reading press releases.

Yes, that is a shame that Joe the Plumber really isn't a plumber. City codes state that to be a plumber within the city limits, you have to be licensed.

It's also a shame that Joe the Plumber is related to Charles Ketting (of the Ketting 5) fame.

It's also a shame that he wants to buy the company he works for when he owes back taxes, etc. HOW is he going to buy the company, when he doesn't have the money to pay his back taxes?

Lets face it, the GOP is on the ropes, and the only chance the GOP has is to smear/swiftboat, cage votes, and the infamous electronic voting machines that drop votes.

What has happened to the GOP? It used to stand for smaller gov't, fiscal spending, etc, In the last (from 2000 to 2006) years, it's lost its ways. WHY?

Has greed and the religious right taken over that much? It sure seems like it. I have never voted for a straight ticket, but right now, seeing all the crap the GOP is pulling/has pulled in the last several years, I find it very hard to vote for a Republican.

However; in the local area, yes I will vote for some GOP members. They are not at all like the ones that always have their names in the news.

I would suggest some people need to take a real good long look at what is going on in this country. Read some History, and see the similarity from past gov'ts to what is happening now. Do we, as Americans, want to go the same way as some other countries have?

Hussein O's goon squad, including the Lame Stream Media attacks on a working class citizen for asking a legit question will make the KGB die of envy. The American people, at least those with a brain, should realize this will be them the first time they oppose or question the 'one' in any way.

The working class need a new logo/signature: I am 'Joe the Plumber' and 'Joe the plumber' is me.

I'm impressed that someone from Blue would put in an appearance over here. Does Lee know? The main point is still the same: Obama walked up to HIM. He asked a question, and Obama answered it. Nothing was planned, or scripted, or planted, or whatever.

And in that little 90 second exchange, it was all made much clearer.

I will tip my hat to whomever wins this election, if for no other reason than I'll be glad its over.

Scrapiron:

Allen, one simple statement. You are a fool. The first time you open your mouth you will be in the same position as 'Joe the Plumber' and thanks to other fools like you no one will be there to help you. Are you ready for the 3AM knock on your door by the Hussein goon squad? It will come because fools can't keep their mouth shut.

At least 'Joe the Plumber' worked enough to owe taxes unlike 90% of the democrats who are welfare riders and counting on Hussein O to increase the welfare payments. Shock will come when Hussein tells you he will determine what you need to exist.

The Keating link has been proven more Hussein Lame Stream Media BS in line with someone shouting kill him at the McCain rally. Only the fool who wrote the article heard it and a dozen or more secret service agents were within earshot.

I am 'Joe the Plumber' and 'Joe the plumber is me'.

Allen,All of that ... (Below threshold)
Clint:

Allen,

All of that is a wonderful distraction, but the issue is this:

Senator Obama just spoke from his heart, rather than from a script. And he told us all that he wants to raise taxes not for any noble reason (pay down the debt, save our schools, rebuild infrastructure, etc...) but simply in order to redistribute it, to "share the wealth."

It could turn out that Joe the Plumber is the leader of the American Nazi party, and a serial killer to boot.

Wouldn't make a single bit of difference.

Obama let the cat out of the bag, and he did it when the cameras were rolling.

The MSM (or KGB or whatever... (Below threshold)
Randy R:

The MSM (or KGB or whatever you want to call it) has apparently decided it's worth shredding whatever credibility it has left in an all out push to get Obama elected. It's one thing to pull out all the stops to discredit Sarah Palin because at least she's a public figure who chose to enter the political arena. Joe the Plumber is just some guy who was playing football with his son in his front yard when Obama and his minions strolled up for a photo op. Trying to destroy the guy for asking The One a legit question isn't going to go over well with people who haven't been swilling the Obama kool-aid.

I smell a backlash coming on that will begin showing up in the polls in a few days.

Allen:

Ref #11. Who is the Hussiean goon squad? A figment of your mind? Oh when it comes to taxes, as a poor retired SOB, I have to pay them every year. So far, you have shown you don't know me, have no idea, except in your kool-aid drugged mind, what you think I am.

As a disabled vet, who happened to remember you bitching about Obama not wearing a flag pin, where was McCain's flag pin on this last debate. Please explain that one, as you called Obama unpatriotic, is it now correct to call McCain unpatriotic because he's not wearing one, or is it a one way street?

Realizing the GOP is/maybe taking a blood bath this coming election, I wonder why? Why happened to the Republican Party. It used to be for smaller gov't, less taxes for everyone, etc.

It has changed over the years, especially when the religious right, and the ultra rich decided they knew better then the people we elected to office.

And why do we, American citizens, have to register for a party? Why can't we just, as American citizens, be registered to vote with out declaring any party loyalty?

I bitch about both parties, because both parties, at times, are stupid. But I also believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to work, based on their ability to do the job, not on their skin color, religious beliefs, nor on their sexual beliefs.

I also believe that the gov't has no business poking their noses into peoples bedrooms, or choices one spouse may make when the other spouse is in dire medical problems.

Now can you say the same thing? Or do you still think I am a bleeding heart liberal? Oh and show some proof that 90% don't pay taxes (or is that because they are below poverty level). Damn I tired of making up those 90% tax slackers, aren't you?

Who's the Hussein goon squa... (Below threshold)
JLawson:

Who's the Hussein goon squad? Let's start with the MSM who took an average joe literally on the street who dared to ask Obama an honest question and are now doing everything they can to discredit him - to deflect from what OBAMA said.

Now look in the mirror, Allen, at someone who would gladly see someone destroyed who DARES question The One. Don't you look GREAT in that digital brown shirt? Isn't it STYLISH? Doesn't that Obama logo look WONDERFUL on your armband?

Maybe you can get a bunch of your fellow brownshirts out and all do the Obama Salute together. Wouldn't that really show your SUPPORT for Obama? People would know who you are - and you could push for the military to adopt that instead of their regular salute. After all - Obama will be their Commander in Chief, and that other salute is SO old-fashioned.

And maybe you could get government workers to use it - after all, Obama's in charge of the government, right?

Hey, you're PROUD of being for Obama! You want EVERYONE to know - and THEY'D better be just as proud, right? Because Obama's going to be GOOD for them, and for the country! Nobody better dare question the One, the ObamaMessiah, the LEADER!

Yeah, you might laugh at it all - but Cult-of-Personality dictatorships don't spring up overnight. It takes careful education of the kids, it takes a large cadre of willing people in positions of influence to get it infused into the culture. The MSM is gleefully in the tank for Obama - he literally can do no wrong. And people like you back them up, because YOU believe in Obama.

At what point, Allen, does it become unhealthy for our society?

"So far, you have shown you don't know me, have no idea, except in your kool-aid drugged mind, what you think I am."

Allen, nice that you would defend yourself. I wouldn't expect any less. Now - would you like to defend your statements about another person who ISN'T here to defend himself from your slander?

Maybe that's too hard for you. How about defending Obama's "spread the wealth" philosophy? You know, the actual subject, where he figures someone who becomes even moderately successful deserves to have it taken away to give to those who don't even pay income tax.

"Why can't we just, as American citizens, be registered to vote with out declaring any party loyalty?"

You can. Do I need to post a picture of my voter ID card? It says -

Party affiliation: none

You too can change yours to "none". I recommend it. It's liberating.

Yes, and city codes also state that to become a licensed plumber, you have to be an apprentice plumber to a licensed plumber for five years before they LET you be a plumber. He applied for his apprenticeship in November 2003. that means that he legally CAN'T be a plumber until sometime next month, at the very least.

It's funny how I keep seeing that point, and the rest, in the same order. It's almost like you downloaded some talking points from a Democratic web site and rewrote them to make them your own, without questioning their accuracy...

Yes, that is a shame that Joe the Plumber really isn't a plumber. City codes state that to be a plumber within the city limits, you have to be licensed.

1. As repeatedly pointed out, he is an apprentice to a plumbing company. He still plumbs, therefore he is still a plumber (albeit not yet licenced...another month to qualify)

It's also a shame that Joe the Plumber is related to Charles Ketting (of the Ketting 5) fame.

Could someone please explain the consanguinity chain that leads to this conclusion? I'm related to George III (far-far removed), so where's my friggin' crown and country estate?

It's also a shame that he wants to buy the company he works for when he owes back taxes, etc. HOW is he going to buy the company, when he doesn't have the money to pay his back taxes?

Apparently he only owes a couple thou, and gee, probably the way others do it...save up the money (if it doesn't get "spread around" by the HopeAndChange express)

So, how much do YOU owe in credit debt or taxes, by the way?

Lets face it, the GOP is on the ropes, and the only chance the GOP has is to smear/swiftboat, cage votes, and the infamous electronic voting machines that drop votes.

The GOP is on the ropes, but as far as the recent spate of voter fraud...sorry, pal, there's only one NUT to look at, and it isn't a walnut...

What has happened to the GOP? It used to stand for smaller gov't, fiscal spending, etc, In the last (from 2000 to 2006) years, it's lost its ways. WHY?

Moddycoddling to the Democrats and special interest Washington groups. You think it's gonna get smaller with the Dems in charge?

2006---Democrat Congress, the most "ethical" congress in history. Pull the other one, sunshine, it plays "Jingle Bells".

Has greed and the religious right taken over that much? It sure seems like it. I have never voted for a straight ticket, but right now, seeing all the crap the GOP is pulling/has pulled in the last several years, I find it very hard to vote for a Republican.

I suspect that you've rarely voted for a Republican, but that said, greed and complacency has taken it's toll. The religious right has not had much influence since say 1992.
