Breaking: Obama Supporter Attacks and Mutilates McCain Volunteer

Drudge has the headline in red. These Obama cultists are dangerous and out of control. What the hell will these people do if the messiah loses on November 4th?

McCainSupporterMutilated.png

Is this the new strategy to get Obama elected? Vote Obama or we'll riot, mutilate people and destroy property? Keep in mind, community activists used intimidation to get banks to give home loans to minority and high risk customers. They stormed bank lobbies and scared away customers. They harassed bank presidents at their homes. It seems they're willing to go even further and actually mutilate a McCain supporter. Will voters with McCain signs in their front yards be targeted, too?

To me, this is an argument to defeat Obama soundly on November 4th. We will not be intimidated into voting for Obama.

Update: Here's the story. A woman was robbed at an ATM in Pittsburgh. The guy was apparently going to leave until he saw her McCain/Palin sticker on her car. That's when he attacked her and mutilated her, carving a "B" on her face. An Obama supporter robbing someone, at random it seems, at an ATM and then leaving the mark of the messiah on her face when he sees she supports McCain. Thug.

Update II: Ed Morrissey has more, including a photo of the victim. She's identified herself as Ashley Todd, who's a College Republican field rep.

Update III: I got an email from a reader:

Just spoke with my friend who is a McCain staffer here in Pittsburgh. She said the woman was attacked after she left a McCain campaign meeting last night on the University of Pittsburgh campus. The assailant is described as african american male and she has identified, in detail, the attackers shoes. He beat her up "really bad" she said. Pittsburgh Police are in possession of a horrific photograph of the victim.

Update IV: Here's another report:

Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richards says the woman was withdrawing money at 9 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached her from behind, put a knife to her neck and demanded money. She says she gave him $60.

The woman told police the robber then noticed the bumper sticker, punched her in the back of the head, knocked her down and carved a "B" on her face.

Some commenters are accusing the victim of faking her attack. Well, according to the report above, she was standing right in front of the ATM at the time he robbed her, so the security camera will tell us what happened. Added: This is happening now.

Lorie adds: If the media is fair about it, this story will get a lot more attention than some idiot who may or may not have yelled "Kill Him" at a McCain rally. Any media report that does not include Obama's instructions for his supporters to "get in their faces" will be incomplete and do a disservice to news consumers by not giving them the full story. My husband says this won't get as much attention as the McCain angry mob story did. Come on ABCBSNBCNN, prove me and my husband wrong. It will be easy enough to check and I am sure someone will by comparing the Google and Nexis hits of the two stories. I know those in the media can't be shamed or embarrassed into giving McCain and Obama equal treatment, but this is just such a clear cut case -- I can't believe they would want to give their critics this kind of ammunition. UPDATE: After seeing the picture, I am suspicious about this story. The cut looks really clean and straight to have been done in a violent attack, but that is something the police will surely sort out, like the Secret Service did those "kill him" McCain angry mob chants. If this were to turn out to be of similar dubiousness, I wonder if the media will cover them similarly. If this turns out to be the real deal expect a big yawn, but if it is a hoax, it will get plenty of attention. Probably more than this story did anyway. UPDATE II: Michelle Malkin has more info and I will be surprised if this is not a hoax. This woman sounds like she might need some help. I noticed tonight that Palin is speaking in Pittsburgh in the morning. That makes me wonder if Todd thought this was a way to meet her.

PITTSBURGH -- A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, police said.

Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard tells Channel 4 Action News that the victim was robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday night outside of a Citizens Bank near Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m.

Richard said the robber took $60 from the woman, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim's car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter "B" into her face, Richard said.

Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank's surveillance cameras.

The robber is described as a dark-skinned black man, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. The man was wearing dark colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes.

McCain staffer says she was mugged, had 'B' cut into face
Thursday, October 23, 2008
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Pittsburgh Police are investigating a report by a campaign staffer for John McCain that she was mugged and the letter B was cut into her face.

Police say the 20-year-old woman, who is from Texas, reported that the attack occurred yesterday in one of the city's eastern neighborhoods.

But they said the woman told them she did not seek medical treatment.
More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

It goes without saying that this is a very shitty thing done by a very shitty person who appears to be an Obama supporter. The ridiculous comments made by "the left" in this thread are a response to the ridiculous implication that this is somehow in character with your average Obama supporter.

Ed Morrissey's post is very well written and he is careful to point out that it would be stupid to generalize about any ticket's supporters based on the actions of a nutjob. It was stupid when people claimed that Bill Gwatney's murder was in character for a Republican, and it's stupid to imply that Democrats are the sort of people who carve up a 20 year old girl's face because they dislike her bumper stickers.

Chip, by your reasoning, any time someone doesn't denounce something they must tacitly support it. That's pretty glib.

It works like this:

By following a charismatic leader, some humans get the idea that this makes them more important than they can otherwise justify in their daily life.

Those same people, lacking is self generated self esteem, can be from an assortment of life styles and life choices.

Yes, up to and including a mugger.

The type of leadership that Barack Obama has selected as his "Style," can often yield exactly the result displayed by this story.

And this is one of about three reasons why I will not be voting for him this November.

Frankly, self styled messiahs scare the hell out of me, not so much for what they might do, but rather, what their followers will most certainly do in the name of the "Cause" that is so much bigger than themselves.

First the charisma, then the fear, then more charisma, then the brown shirts. And yes, I meant exactly what I said. Our system of government precludes what happened in the Weimer Republic and I personally do not link or think that Obama is a modern Hitler.

What I am pointing out is the that cult of personality politics leads to excess, especially when the style is intentional. And no question in the case of Barack Obama, it is intentional.

Again, it isn't what Dear Leader does, it is what his self deluded followers do in the name of Dear Leader.

Racial Mugging Victim Helpfully Twittered Her Terrible Tale -

Shortly before a John McCain campaign volunteer was reportedly robbed at knifepoint and had a "B" carved in her face after her assailant noticed that her car carried a McCain bumper sticker, the woman blogged last night that she was "Stubbornly searching for a bank of america to avoid ATM fees" and had somehow ended up "on the wrong side of pittsburgh."

Pittsburgh law enforcement sources tell TMZ they have serious questions about the authenticity of the alleged victim who says she had her face cut by a politically-motivated attacker.

We're told there are several things about the alleged attack that don't add up. A Pittsburgh PD official says they are conducting a "thorough investigation" and have not determined if the alleged attack is real or a hoax. But we're told there is definitely a level of skepticism.

Why is it that Joe Biden gives less than $5,000 on several million dollars of income? Does he really care about those in need? If so why didn't he put his money where his mouth is? You want to know the reason? It is because he does not give a flip about these people. All he and all of the others in the socialist democrat party care about is giving out crumbs to the needy to keep them dependent on the government system and the politicians that vote for these socialistic policies. I should warn you that this scam is about to come to an abrupt halt If Obama gets elected. Those getting the handouts are expecting big pieces of the pie instead of crumbs and that will not happen. Socialism would kill enterprise; Liberalism would rescue enterprise from the trammels of privilege and preference. Progressive taxation is not socialism. If it was, most of the founders were socialists by your mislabeling. George Washington identified himself as a liberal. Look it up. Try a library, the internet is full of garbage. And don't even get me started on their ideas about property in land. They were decidedly proto-Georgists and even Wiliam F. Buckley, Jr. was "sympathetic with" Henry George's "analysis" as are many libertarians. The Ardens, Delaware is a Georgist community in the U.S. and has bee for some time, as was Fairhope, Alabama.

Henry George said that the rent of all land ought to be public. ...I am sympathetic with that particular analysis.

Jefferson and the Aristocracy
How Cicero's Writing Influenced Jefferson's View of Hereditary Power
© James Hogan

Feb 10, 2008

Influenced by the writing of the Roman Senator Cicero, Thomas Jefferson introduced bills to repeal the laws of primogeniture and entails in the Virginia legislature.

Historians attribute the majority of the ideological roots of America's founders to European Enlightenment thought as well as English opposition party writings. However, in at least one place, it is difficult to connect the founders' ideals and modern European thought - Thomas Jefferson's strong statements regarding the dangers of a hereditary American aristocracy. The idea of noble birth rite and hereditary power were firmly entrenched in 17th and 18th century European thought and to advocate against them would have been controversial if not outright dangerous. Jefferson however, experiences no reticence in condemning the institution and introduced laws aimed at destroying it. Stating in an 1813 letter to John Adams, "These laws, drawn by myself, laid the axe to the root of Pseudoaristocracy."

Jefferson: What I saw at the Forum

Jefferson, as with the other founders, had studied the history of Rome almost from the time he started his earliest education. The fact that the American government today looks much like the mixed constitution state (executive, senate and a representative lower house) of republican Rome should not be surprising given the founders ardent study of it.

But still, the Roman republic fell and was replaced by a dictatorship. The cause of this democratic failure would certainly need to be addressed so as to prevent it from happening in the United States. When Jefferson looked for answers, he found Cicero. Marcus Tullius Cicero was one of Rome's most influential politicians in the late republic and its most prolific writer.

Jefferson's interrogation of Cicero was revealing. Although Cicero does put some of the blame for the fall of the republic on Julius Caesar, he delivers the brunt to the aristocratical Senate. Men of birth and wealth, possessing a sense of entitlement, corrupted by greed, allowed themselves to be bribed into complicity with a dictator. Cicero repeated this theme in his letters, speeches and in his late philosophical works.

Not in this Republic

Well, if a corrupted aristocracy helped bring down the Roman Republic, it was not something Jefferson wanted in his new republic. After signing the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson returned to Virginia where he had been elected to the state legislature. In one of his first acts there he introduced a bill to end the laws of primogeniture and entails. Primogeniture - Latin for first born - required that all of a man's wealth be passed to his eldest son upon his death. Entails stipulated that this requirement applied to the land in perpetuity. Over time this practice ensured the slow accumulation of great wealth by a few the families who had lived in the state the longest. These families formed what was a called a 'Patrician Order" by Jefferson. And where the King picked his advisors to administer the colony. This system established the conditions favorable for the formation of a permanent aristocracy in Virginia.

Jefferson was successful in getting his bill passed. And, while today it is a little noted event, to Jefferson it was an important act in his political life. In his autobiography he wrote:

"To annul this privilege, and instead of an aristocracy of wealth, of more harm and danger, than benefit, to society, to make an opening for the aristocracy of virtue and talent, which nature has wisely provided for the direction of the interests of society, & scattered with equal hand through all it's conditions, was deemed essential to a well ordered republic."

Cicero would have been proud.

[American welfare policy in the founding era. -- TGW]

...The poor, unable to support themselves, are maintained by an assessment on the titheable persons in their parish. This assessment is levied and administered by twelve persons in each parish, called vestrymen, originally chosen by the housekeepers of the parish, but afterwards filling vacancies in their own body by their own choice. These are usually the most discreet farmers, so distributed through their parish, that every part of it may be under the immediate eye of some one of them. They are well acquainted with the details and œconomy of private life, and they find sufficient inducements to execute their charge well, in their philanthropy, in the approbation of their neighbours, and the distinction which that gives them. The poor who have neither property, friends, nor strength to labour, are boarded in the houses of good farmers, to whom a stipulated sum is annually paid...

Cato, first, you got a negative for length. Everything you cut and pasted could have been summed up in a couple paragraphs.

Second, your statement, "Progressive taxation is not socialism." No it's not. You're arguing a straw man. It's how the taxes are used. When they're taken and then given to someone who did not earn them, it's socialism. It's very simple. Why are the uses of the money called "social programs" and not "liberal programs"? Liberals who espouse this use of the money are socialist in nature. When these "liberals" determine who is needy of the money based on ever evolving circumstances (ie when the lifestyles of those with more money improves, the standards of what constitutes "poor" increases) then those with big screen TVs, new cars, etc are considered "poor" if they struggle to maintain that style of living.

Take note of Jefferson's words, "The poor who have neither property, friends, nor strength to labour,..."

One must define "the poor" properly. It's not an arbitrary/evolving definition based on "keeping up with the Joneses".

Like most conservatives, I have no problem the socialistic aspect of helping those who are poor in spite of great effort. I DO have a problem with indiscriminate charity imposed by a government.

We've been barreling headlong down that path for a long time, and that it's becoming "mainstream" to accept that our government mandates it and administrates it so poorly is troubling.

That's without even briefly touching on public education.

POLICE: McCAIN VOLUNTEER MADE UP STORY

By JOE MANDAK, Associated Press Writer Joe Mandak, Associated Press Writer

PITTSBURGH - A McCain campaign volunteer made up a story of being robbed, pinned to the ground and having the letter "B" scratched on her face in a politically inspired attack, police said Friday.

Ashley Todd, 20-year-old college student from College Station, Texas, admitted Friday that the story was false and was being charged with making a false report to police, said Maurita Bryant, the assistant chief of the police department's investigations division. Police doubted her story from the start, Bryant said.

Todd, who is white, told police she was attacked by a 6-foot-4 black man Wednesday night. She now can't explain why she invented the story, Bryant said.

Todd also told police she believes she cut the backward "B" onto her own cheek, but she didn't explain how or why, Bryant said.

Todd initially told investigators she was attempting to use a bank branch ATM when the man approached her from behind, put a knife with a 4- to 5-inch blade to her throat and demanded money. She told police she handed the assailant $60 and walked away.

Todd told investigators that she suspected the man then noticed a John McCain sticker on her car, became angry and punched her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground and telling her "you are going to be a Barack supporter," police said.

She said he continued to punch and kick her while threatening "to teach her a lesson for being a McCain supporter," police said. She said he then sat on her chest, pinned her hands down with his knees and scratched a backward letter "B" into her face with a dull knife.

Todd told police she didn't seek medical attention, but instead went to a friend's apartment nearby and called police about 45 minutes later.

The Associated Press could not immediately locate Todd's family.

Bryant said somebody charged with making a false report would typically be cited and sent a summons. But because police have concerns about Todd's mental health, they are consulting with the Allegheny County District Attorney.

Todd remained in custody, and police were preparing to charge her with making a false report to police.

"We had some serious cases going on, and this wasted so much time," Bryant said. "Our detectives have been working through the night just to verify the information we suspected was false from the beginning."

Todd worked in New York for the College Republican National Committee before moving two weeks ago to Pennsylvania, where her duties included recruiting college students, the committee's executive director, Ethan Eilon, has said.

Eilon declined to comment on the investigation Friday or to help The Associated Press contact Todd.

Earlier Friday, police said they had found inconsistencies in Todd's story. They gave her a lie-detector test, but wouldn't release the polygraph results. Investigators also said bank surveillance photos did not back up the woman's initial story of being attacked at an ATM.

Police interviewed Todd after she contacted police Wednesday night and again on Thursday, Bryant said. They asked her to come back Friday, ostensibly to help police put together a sketch of the man. Instead, detectives began interviewing her.

"They just started talking to her and she just opened up and said she wanted to tell the truth," Bryant said.

Bryant said it doesn't appear that anyone else put the woman up to the false report.

Police suspected all along that Todd might not be telling the truth, starting with the fact that the "B" was backward, Bryant said.

"We have robbers here in Pittsburgh, but they don't generally mutilate someone's face like that," Bryant said. "They just take the money and run."

The Truth:

The real story here, of course, is that Wizbang in general and Kim Priestap in particular have lost every ounce of whatever questionable credibility they ever had. They soiled their britches in grand style "reporting" this "story," which has now been exposed as an utter, total lie.

But let's concentrate on the Kimster, shall we? She's been completely and thoroughly exposed as a shrill, hysterical spokes-hole, a mindless, Palin-esque empty shell tool who reflexively parrots, without investigation, without conscience, without the slightest glimmer of intelligence, the following idiocy:

"Drudge has the headline in red. These Obama cultists are dangerous and out of control. What the hell will these people do if the messiah loses on November 4th? Is this the new strategy to get Obama elected? Vote Obama or we'll riot, mutilate people and destroy property? Keep in mind, community activists used intimidation to get banks to give home loans to minority and high risk customers. They stormed bank lobbies and scared away customers. They harassed bank presidents at their homes. It seems they're willing to go even further and actually mutilate a McCain supporter. Will voters with McCain signs in their front yards be targeted, too? To me, this is an argument to defeat Obama soundly on November 4th. We will not be intimidated into voting for Obama."

Really Kim. Have you no pride? Have you no shame? Have you no decency?

You certainly have no credentials as a journalist, reporter or writer. You've embarrassed yourself about as totally as one can in public.

You're a complete moron. I wish you a wonderful eight years in the country of President Obama. Get used to it.

Totally forgotten and ignored in the news, of course. It's nice, in a horrible sort of way: it confirms over and over again, who are really the good guys in this thing. Who are the ones trying to heal things, and who are the ones trying to divide and break.

And you call us the crazy ones, and say the media is biased in our favour.

First off black eyes as they are do not form right after an attack they actually can take up to a week to turn black before that it would be swollen red with congealed blood. But what do I know I am just an Atheist with no criminal record not even a traffic ticket but I drink lattes oh and I have never done any drugs not even Marijuana also I read a lot of books so I am eroding the morals of society.

I, for one, don't care if this attack was faked.

For every hoax attack on God-fearing American Patriot Republicans, there are at least ten real attacks that go unreported. Why, just last week, I stepped outside to pick up my morning Washington Times and found that some liberal creep let the air out of my inflatable McCain-Palin lawn display/moon bounce.

When McCain is elected next week, we'll throw all these Osama-backing thugs into Guantanamo bay, where they belong.
