The Knucklehead of the Day award

Today's winner is Robert Blake of Eden Prairie Minnesota. He gets the award for the following.

A 34-year-old man is charged with stealing eight piggy banks from a Hopkins home, netting more than $2,700 in change.

Police say Robert Blake, of Eden Prairie, then went to a bank, where he spent more than half an hour standing at a coin-counting machine while the device tallied the money.

Police say he then picked up his girlfriend and bought a coat, boots and shirts at Burlington Coat Factory.

Blake was charged with second-degree burglary for allegedly taking the large screw-top plastic bins.

Police found him after a neighbor saw a man leave with two large nylon bags and noted the plate number.

Police says Blake may have lived with the victims in the past.

Blake was already on probation for first-degree burglary.

Those are some well stocked piggy banks. When this criminal gets to prison, will he brag about the piggy bank bandit? I wouldn't if I were Robert Blake of Eden Prairie, but say instead I was the Knucklehead of the Day.

Note- Why did AP feel the need to take Blake's name out of their reporting of this story?

That dollar amount makes sense to me. I uniformly dump change into a jar and never put it in my pocket when I leave the apartment, so I've accumulated about 14-15 gallons of change over the past few years.

Just damn... I used to love "Baretta", then he goes and kills his wife, and now this?

And you can take that to the (piggy) bank.
