Muslim Jama Masjid Trust is refusing to bury the Mumbai terrorists because their actions are antithetical to Islam:
A Muslim graveyard in the heart of Mumbai has broken with Islamic tradition and refused to bury the bodies of nine terrorists who were killed during the attack on India's financial capital. The influential Muslim Jama Masjid Trust, which runs the 7.5-acre Badakabrastan graveyard, said it would not bury the gunmen because they were not true followers of Islam.
Hanif Nalkhande, a spokesman for the trust, said: "People who committed this heinous crime cannot be called Muslim. Islam does not permit this sort of barbaric crime."
...Unclaimed bodies thought to be Muslim are traditionally given to the nearest Islamic graveyard for burial after three days but that now looks impossible in Mumbai.
This report also says that as a result of this trust's actions, the other Muslim graveyards will probably refuse to bury the terrorists as well. This is good news because it signals a continued push-back against Islamic extremism. In Iraq, the Iraqis have turned against the Islamists who wanted to force their brand of Islam on everyone, allowing the moderates to govern their country. For several years, 2005-2006 especially, there were calls from people all over the world asking moderate Muslims to stand up against the extremists who were hijacking their religion. It seems the moderates are now doing just that.
Hat tip to Ed Morrissey at Hot Air who offers a suggestion of what to do with the bodies:
I'd find the nearest pig sty and toss the bodies into it. That would send a message to Islamist terrorists who want to die in foreign lands while killing as many innocent people as possible. In the end, they'll wind up with the swine, where they belonged in the first place.

So how does this good news fit with the Mark Steyn mantra that "moderate Islam is a myth"?
Steyn's one of your heroes, right?

Well Bruce, the more that Muslims show us infidels that they are part of a world of community that is shared by other faiths and other ways of living and actually standing up in public to condemn acts of terrorism, the more us "infidels" may start to believe that there is good will among them. It is my experience of life, and I have been on this planet a great length of time, that Muslims on the whole seem much more inclined to make a public fuss over perceived slights than they are to boldly step up and condemn the acts of terrorists.

Given this reality that is quite often the case, your sarcasm concerning where Mr. Steyn stands on the subject of Muslim "moderates" is unwarranted. Mark Steyn is a brilliant writer who calls it as he sees it and is quite able to change his views should the phenomenon of "moderate Muslims" come to be less of a trickle and more of a deluge.
I have prayed mightily over the years that I too might witness "enlightenment" come into the Islamic faith to the extent that a majority of Muslims would demonstrate the courage of conviction that might allow them to publicly condemn terrorism without all the caveats they are forever adding. When Muslims condemn terrorism against Israel, I will know that I have arrived. But still, I shall always look for lesser accomplishments along the way to that miracle.

These bodies after they are tagged bagged and id they should be burned without services after 1 week.
They were dishonorable and cowardly in life and their body's treatment should reflect it. If the Muslim street does not like it they should do more about it like tell these people it is not ok to be a craven coward.
Let Muslims Clerics issue a Fatwa against terrorism. Have them issue a Fatwa against force conversion by the sword to Islam(Which what the whole beheading thing is if they convert they are spared). Have them issue one against killing apostates. Have them issue one against honor killing. After that as start I will believe that we have moderate Muslims.

Muslims rejecting Islamoterrorists!? I'm shocked. However, it was an Indian Muslim reacting to what was essentially an attack on India. It probably wasn't too difficult. In fact, he probably would have been the recipient of a huge backlash had he accepted the bodies.
I'd like to see a few Muslim clerics from Arab countries denouncing this terrorism. I won't hold my breath waiting.

Synovia,
Name a religion whose fundies have not killed people, or tried to. And not in the misty past, either. Catholics killed Protestants in Northern Ireland, and vice versa. Orthodox Serbs killed Catholic Croats and secularized Muslims in Yugoslavia. An ultra-Orthodox Jew killed Rabin. "Aryan Christian" McVeigh killed hundreds in OK City. A fundamentalist Hindu killed Gandhi!
The list of religion-based killers is inclusive indeed.

My comment to Synova was because she(he?) seemed to imply that only Muslims were capable of murder in the name of religion. That's simply not true, as I've pointed out. But if you want me to be PC, then, yes, atheists kill people, too. Happy now?
