The news just broke:
Disgraced former American football star O.J. Simpson was sentenced Friday to at least 15 years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping during a 2007 raid on a Las Vegas hotel room.
Maybe the Brown and Goldman families can have some sense of closure even if he's going to prison for something completely unrelated.
Update: From new reports we're learning that Simpson's sentence is much higher than the original 15 years that was reported earlier. The judge's sentence was a tapestry of different concurrent and consecutive sentences for the various counts on which he was found guilty. In all, he could serve up to 33 years.

O J Simpson is the worst kind of human debris to ever trod over God's green earth.
Justice has been delayed for his past foul deeds and current denial of his behavior.
The man is a cold-bloodied killer for his past deeds and one stupid son-of-a-bitch for his recent misdeeds.

A couple of commenters over Wizbang Sports commented that this was a "revenge" sentence and that, basically, the sentence was not just.
What they fail to take into account is that the federal government does not look like kindly upon kidnapping, one of the main charges Simpson faced and was ruled guilty of committing. Kidnapping carries a very stiff penalty even for first-time offenders.
One more thing, even if this was 'revenge justice', then what exactly was OJ's 1995 acquittal just 3 short years after the 1992 LA riots? Given the overwhelming evidence against OJ in that trial, it certainly wasn't a just decision by any means.
In the end, OJ just got a big dose of cosmic comeuppance.

Maybe OJ will luck out and find the real killer in prison with him. Sure didn't find him on any of those golf courses. Wonder how many of those chumps on the LA jury finally wised up to the fact they'd been had.

Yeah, let him rot in jail till he finds the real killer. He will never get out.

Those chumps on the LA jury acquitted him for one reason, and if you have not figured that one out yet, you are not deserving of another guess.

You have to love when at least a portion of justice is eventually served.
The man should have been gassed in a California prison years ago.
The Brown family has been tormented by this evil, vile, barbaric creature for over a decade. Hope they can get to their daughter's children before they have become completely dysfunctional under their biological father's influence.

Every so often you find someone with talent and potential who start to make something of themselves - and watch as their public personas go completely out of control, to the point where they're apparently thinking of themselves as being incapable of doing any wrong - so everything they DO is automatically right.
And they self-destruct spectacularly. OJ's been in a very slow-motion train wreck since the early '90s - and now the fragments are finally coming to rest.
Sucks to be him - but he did it to himself.

No...It was the evils of American society that gave this street thug a chance, along with his thug friend, Al Cowlings, a chance to join and participate in the rewards of a civilized society. Even though, both of them, received the rewards of a civilized society, they just could not live above, adapt, and become law-abiding citizens.

And as such, Eneils - he did it to himself.
Every choice HE made in his life led him to where he is today. At any time he could have gone in a different direction - but where he is today is a result of the things he did and the decisions he made.

O.J. Simpson is not a good person at all. But the idea of convicting him to a long sentence to make up for his previous controversial acquittal is highly questionable in my view.
