Obama: We'll Get Back to You on That

What a difference a few months and an election make. The vaunted transparency promised by the Obama Campaign is becoming somewhat clouded by the actions of the nascent Obama Administration.

Today the President Elect informed us that:

"I have never spoken to the governor on this subject. I am confident that no representatives of mine would have any part of any deals related to this seat. I think the materials released by the U.S. attorney reflect that fact," Obama said at a Chicago news conference. "I've asked my team to gather the facts of any contacts with the governor's office about this vacancy so that we can share them with you over the next few days."

If conservatives learned anything from the Clintons it was to parse every phrase uttered by President Clinton. That lesson should not be forgotten when listening to the new President Elect, who certainly understands the importance of choosing his words carefully now that he no longer enjoys the wide latitude given him by the legacy media during the campaign but also the sobering reality that a U S Attorney is paying attention to his every utterance.

It is no wonder that some
doubt
that there may well have been conversations between the Obama team and the now indicted Illinois Governor Blagojevich. The question then becomes who in the daisy chain of intermediaries was in a capacity to represent whom. Said another way, this issue may come down to plausible deniability.

If that is the case the Obama team should be sweating bullets right now because the U S Attorney in this case, Patrick Fitzgerald, has a history of wringing every drop out of a highly publicized political corruption case. In fact, he'll surely ask more troubling questions than these.

The Blagojevich problem is way beyond the Stink Bomb stage as some pundits have described it. There is already a sitting Grand Jury, an indictment of a governor from the President Elect's home state and a prosecutor that is a known quantity to the national press.

That's why Obama's press conference today was his first official modified limited hangout. Voters old enough to remember Richard Nixon see this for what it is. Barrack Obama may be in for a long four years for the reason that his fate may already lay in the hands of others, some of whom are in the cross hairs of a prosecutor with a history of bucking the system.

Won't Obama simply fire all the U.S. Attorneys including Fitzgerald on the day he is sworn in? Apparently it's legal when a Democrat does it.

David Axelrod on 23 Nov 08: "I know [Mr Obama] talked to the Governor [Blagojevich] and there is a whole range of names, many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them".
Now Axelrod says he was mistaken about that. Really?! What else is he mistaken about?

Hey John S

You may want to brush up a bit on your understanding of our government. Every President cleans house at the BEGINNING of his administration. Bush was the only president in history to fire US attorneys for not following his instructions during his term. He was instructing US attorneys to phony up charges and prosecute Democrats.

Better yet, how about citing the US code section where it defines that a President can't fire sitting US Attorneys EXCEPT at the beginning of his term. How about detailing for us when this "beginning" ends afterwhich he can't fire them? 50 days? 6 hours? 30 days? Come on Einstein, a little detail would be good,.....other than the usual asshat drivel.

Ref #2. I guess you just like using the GOP talking BS points. Nov. 9th Obama said he would not ask Fitz for his resignation.

But keep spreading the BS. Why don't you and the rest of your buddies wait and see what happens. Your crystal balls are giving you bad info, don't you know. In fact, some of the US Attorneys that Bush/Rove fired may be appointed back to their previous positions. I'll bet that makes Monica Goodling get her panties in a wad, seeing she worked so hard to please her masters to get rid of them.

And yes, every new President has the right to clean house and appoint new people to any position, some with the consent of the Senate, and a bunch without the consent of the Senate.

Obama isn't President yet, and some of you nuts are already blaming him. How are you going to blame the melt down of our economy on him, it happened under Bush's watch. I'm not saying Bush was responsible, but he was/is still President and it is happening right now.

How many of you blamed people for having BDS? Some of you have a severe case of CDS, and now that is turning into ODS. Cranium/rectal surgery will fix your problem.

Or would you rather have 4 more years of President Bush? 78% of Americans say no, no more Bush. Are the 78% deluded?

Unemployment is the worst it's been in 26 years. That means it tied the record under Regan in 1982. Yes, I know, you say it was Carter's fault. But Regan was President, same as Bush is, and it happened on their watch!

If we give O and his team the benefit of the doubt, their denials and evasions make ZERO sense. If nothing untoward has occurred relative to the Blago corruption, wouldn't the best, most plausible, and most expected answer be, "Of course I've spoken with the Governor about the politics of filling my soon-to-be-vacant political job"??

It would seem to me that any departing U.S. Senator, from either party, would be expected to have conversations with the Governor of the same party about potential replacements.

So these denials and evasions are illogical, unless something untoward HAS occurred.

Monica Goodling is the best! What a great ambassador for Regent University, featuring America's preeminent fourth-tier Christian law school.

These retards need to be unemployed; or, at best, writing "legal" textbooks for Regnery Press.
