Breaking: Shoes Thrown at President Bush During Iraqi Press Conference

In Baghdad, Sunday afternoon, during a press conference at a surprise farewell visit between President Bush And Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki, a "journalist" from the "religion of peace" threw both shoes at the head of President Bush.

Fortunately, both shoes missed, or to put it more accurately, President Bush's excellent reflexes allowed him to duck out of the way quickly enough.

During the "exchange", President Bush was smirking the entire time, which should send the lefties into a mini-tizzy.

Not bad moves for a 62 year old man, especially given it happened at such close range.

President Bush was heard to have said, "That was a size 10 shoe he threw at me, you may want to know.".

Not sure how to imbed a video link, so here's a link to HotAir for a portion of the video.

Not surprising since he did actually own a baseball team once.

W. had good reflexes and ducked the shoes. He also waved back the SS guys coming in to do the body hug thing. (SS must have been apoplectic! "Shoe bombers" and all) The security forces didn't shoot the SOB. Which is a wonder.

HOWEVER, CNN sees the fast-flying shoe bomb as an omen and portent. Interesting that CNN is still officially obsessed with Bush Derangement Sundrome. Jeez..CNN give it a rest. Take a pill or something.

I wonder if there was a second shoe thrower from a grassy knoll or if there was a conspiracy to throw shoes here. I can't wait to watch the History channel animated re-enactment of this dastardly shoe crime. There needs to be a new Warren Commission investigation called for here I think.

I've always laughed at shoe jokes myself. This event was darn crazy. Only in Iraq.

"Journalists are not the enemy."

No - but neither are they allies - they're simply someone looking to promote a certain attitude at the expense of information that doesn't fit the story line they're pitching.

When they start reporting all the news, and start to call themselves 'reporters' again, then they'll morph back into a respectable occupation.

But 'journalists'? No. Anything from a 'journalist' is suspect until you figure out what direction their biases run.

No, it doesn't. But your comment illustrates that you cannot, or more likely don't want to, distinguish between the bad behavior of some members of a society and the society as a whole.

Do the actions of the Army troops at Mahmudiyah who gang-raped a 14-year old girl and then murdered her family, illustrate the rapist, homicidal mindset of the American military?
Of course not.

There are psychopaths and fools in every society. Further, Iraq is a uniquely dysfunctional society given its history and Saddam Hussein's brutal despotism.
