Hope, Thy Name Is Obama

Well, our chain-smoking savior has finished picking his fresh-faced apostles. Don't you feel a sea-change washing over you? Does not the air seem fresher, the colors seem brighter? It's like Snuggles, the fabric softener bear has been elected.

Let "Happy Days Are Here Again" trumpet from every mountain top!

So how does Obama chose to say au-revoir to the masses before he embarks on his blessed Hawaiian sabbatical?

By proclaiming, "It will get worse before it gets better.".

Translation: "I am going to let you all keep thinking that things suck, so I can ram my leftist agenda down your gullible throats.".

Ahh, how soon the true liberal reverts to the doctrine of doom and gloom.

And it's not even inauguration day yet..

Gonna be a loooong 4 years.

I'm not so sure about suffering. The lefty douchebags with their anti-war, anti-rich screeds ought to be screaming about now with Obama's appointees; Iraq's already won, and Obama can be the Afghanistan war president - that means the US is still pursuing the war on terrorism.

Good and good, so far. Obama's not going after the 'rich' yet, and will need to be prepared for additional economic collapse if the current tax cuts are allowed to expire.

So far we have Bush III. Unless that drastically changes, you should be the one crying in your cheerios.

The President-Elect's statement is honest and forthright. It is very difficult to reverse the global economic crisis overnight because the American government does not have full economic control over the entire American economy let alone the world economy.

I've suffered some serious economic losses this year as a result of this economic downturn and other issues that probably exceed $250,000 in total losses, so I'll certainly be happy to see this economy turnaround. But I have enough experience in business to know that a new president cannot simply wave a magic wand and things will pickup overnight. But I certainly hope to see some sense of an economic recovery within at least 14 months.

The economy's in flames, Congress is printing money as fast as it can before inflation lights up, almost everybody's retirement plans are worth shit, unemployment is climbing, home values are in a deflationary spiral, and you're all woot-woot about winning an election and how stupid everybody else is.

I have to ask: do you think you could go get a little mental maturity someplace? We'll wait.

It happens when I watch a bunch of righrwingers yammering about the man who hasn't even taken office yet. It happens when I get to toss wingnut phrases back at them, like un-american, america-hater etc.

It happens when I read idiots like apb use words like douche-bag to describe any democrat. - speaking of mental maturity itswillie. By the way you're not related to weewillie are you itswillie?

Oh I know, the friggin bailout and money that government is handing out to those who don't pay their mortgages. If I didn't need a clearance, I wouldn't pay my mortgage either and wait for better terms. Government action IS causing more bad behavior.

JFO,

Sorry, you really didn't do anything for me to justify calling you that. I'm just getting tired of this site. It seems that it's whole purpose is just to provide a medium for mean spirited people to throw insults at one another. People have a tendancy to bring other people down so they can feel better about themself. There seems to be a lot of that going around here. Not that I'm accusing you of doing it for that reason of feeling better about yourself. As a democrat its quite justifiable to feel and respond the way you did. I can understand your anger from reading the articles/comments on this post. There is not much real analysis of issues. It's all about trying to come up with ways to discredit Obama/Democrats. Just don't let their hatred infect you, hatred is very contagious.

John Irving:

JFO may be a bit of a douchebag (debatable), but if he's happy with Obama's win AND post-election transformation into Bush 2.0, then at least he's happy for the right reasons.

I mean hell, if you had convinced me Barack Obama was going to keep Gates as defense secretary, further appoint centrist and even center-right people to high level positions, and listen attentively and learn from President Bush, I might have voted for him. On the other hand, he probably would have lost, as the mindless progressives who carried water for him would have sat out the election or naderized their votes.

I'm just happy to see them left out in the cold again. The fact that it is their own petard they have been hoist upon makes it sweeter.

The only remaining issue I have with President-elect Obama is card-check, and given the manner he and Bush have coordinated to fark over the UAW for the quasi-bailout of the auto companies gives me hope he'll dump that too.

Les Nessman,

Bush was not criticized for taking an occasional vacation but for being on record as having taken the most amount of vacation days for any president in history. What makes it worse is that he did it while our nation is at war.

Can you see the difference?

Bullpuckey. He was criticized the moment he took his first "vacation."
What makes it worse is that he did it while our nation is at war.

Even on "vacation" the President has access to everything he needs to command. There are a lot of ignorant people out there who don't realize this.

Barack isn't even in the office yet. If he needs a vacation now, and an actual non-working one at that, unlike Bush's "vacations," he's going to have trouble handling the duties of the Presidency.

It's quite amazing to me how left wingers like smiles can newly impose their presence on this blog, be immediately first post onward critical of everything and everyone stupid enough to be reading at this webpage, strut their stuff self righteously and puff up their chests full of moral superiority, and then write a post like number 11 on this page, full of weary fortitude at having to bear up under the deficiencies of the low class people residing here. .

It's as easy to haul your douche bag ass out of here as it was for you to show up with your mouth open, and that goes for the others like you who have little to offer that anyone here really needs to hear. We already have a full complement of squalid characters like JFO who have never uttered a positive statement about anything but live only to lord themselves over what they consider to be their inferiors. Believe me when I say that if this was the street and not the blog, people like JFO wouldn't have any teeth left. That's not a threat. It is recognition that assholes inevitably draw bad karma down upon themselves. But, as we all know, anyone can say anything on a blog without needing much in the way of courage or common sense.

If you and JFO and others like you find yourself in hostile territory where people have different values than yours and don't particularly like you, why stay there?? Is it your sense of mission in life to enter antithetical space and preach to the natives or what?

MIchaelC - you certainly are whining like a little child now, aren't you. I've posted many times prior on this site and the venom I'd receive on a regular basis for a single progressive thought was generally pathetic.

Well, we've won the election, your politics are reduced to the trash heap where they should have been 8 years ago. Stings, doesn't it, when you're on the losing end of argument.

Believe me when I say that if this was the street and not the blog, people like JFO wouldn't have any teeth left.

Sure. Just like all the other cowards who've looked at their President as their protective daddy. If you had any balls, you'd have seen what a lying, morally corrupt piece of trash the current President has been. Empty promises from a weakling.

And by the way, your opinion really doesn't matter anymore in the scheme of things.

Unfortunately testimony from the 9/11 Commission Hearings do not back up your statement. Bush was out of commision during his vacations, prior to FBI information stating that Islamic jihadist, had been taking lessons on how to fly a 747.

During the 9/11 commision hearings Tenet was asked when he first found out about the report from the FBI's Minnesota field office that Zacarias Moussaoui, an Islamic jihadist, had been taking lessons on how to fly a 747. Tenet replied that he was briefed about the case on Aug. 23 or 24, 2001.

Roemer then asked Tenet if he mentioned Moussaoui to President Bush at one of their frequent morning briefings. Tenet replied, "I was not in briefings at this time." Bush, he noted, "was on vacation." He added that he didn't see the president at all in August 2001. During the entire month, Bush was at his ranch in Texas.
