I'm not so sure about suffering. The lefty douchebags with their anti-war, anti-rich screeds ought to be screaming about now with Obama's appointees; Iraq's already won, and Obama can be the Afghanistan war president - that means the US is still pursuing the war on terrorism.
Good and good, so far. Obama's not going after the 'rich' yet, and will need to be prepared for additional economic collapse if the current tax cuts are allowed to expire.
So far we have Bush III. Unless that drastically changes, you should be the one crying in your cheerios.

The President-Elect's statement is honest and forthright. It is very difficult to reverse the global economic crisis overnight because the American government does not have full economic control over the entire American economy let alone the world economy.
I've suffered some serious economic losses this year as a result of this economic downturn and other issues that probably exceed $250,000 in total losses, so I'll certainly be happy to see this economy turnaround. But I have enough experience in business to know that a new president cannot simply wave a magic wand and things will pickup overnight. But I certainly hope to see some sense of an economic recovery within at least 14 months.

JFO,
Sorry, you really didn't do anything for me to justify calling you that. I'm just getting tired of this site. It seems that it's whole purpose is just to provide a medium for mean spirited people to throw insults at one another. People have a tendancy to bring other people down so they can feel better about themself. There seems to be a lot of that going around here. Not that I'm accusing you of doing it for that reason of feeling better about yourself. As a democrat its quite justifiable to feel and respond the way you did. I can understand your anger from reading the articles/comments on this post. There is not much real analysis of issues. It's all about trying to come up with ways to discredit Obama/Democrats. Just don't let their hatred infect you, hatred is very contagious.

JFO may be a bit of a douchebag (debatable), but if he's happy with Obama's win AND post-election transformation into Bush 2.0, then at least he's happy for the right reasons.
I mean hell, if you had convinced me Barack Obama was going to keep Gates as defense secretary, further appoint centrist and even center-right people to high level positions, and listen attentively and learn from President Bush, I might have voted for him. On the other hand, he probably would have lost, as the mindless progressives who carried water for him would have sat out the election or naderized their votes.
I'm just happy to see them left out in the cold again. The fact that it is their own petard they have been hoist upon makes it sweeter.
The only remaining issue I have with President-elect Obama is card-check, and given the manner he and Bush have coordinated to fark over the UAW for the quasi-bailout of the auto companies gives me hope he'll dump that too.

Bush was not criticized for taking an occasional vacation but for being on record as having taken the most amount of vacation days for any president in history. What makes it worse is that he did it while our nation is at war.

Bullpuckey. He was criticized the moment he took his first "vacation."
What makes it worse is that he did it while our nation is at war.
Even on "vacation" the President has access to everything he needs to command. There are a lot of ignorant people out there who don't realize this.
Barack isn't even in the office yet. If he needs a vacation now, and an actual non-working one at that, unlike Bush's "vacations," he's going to have trouble handling the duties of the Presidency.

It's as easy to haul your douche bag ass out of here as it was for you to show up with your mouth open, and that goes for the others like you who have little to offer that anyone here really needs to hear. Believe me when I say that if this was the street and not the blog, people like JFO wouldn't have any teeth left. That's not a threat. It is recognition that assholes inevitably draw bad karma down upon themselves. But, as we all know, anyone can say anything on a blog without needing much in the way of courage or common sense.

Unfortunately testimony from the 9/11 Commission Hearings do not back up your statement. Bush was out of commision during his vacations, prior to FBI information stating that Islamic jihadist, had been taking lessons on how to fly a 747.
During the 9/11 commision hearings Tenet was asked when he first found out about the report from the FBI's Minnesota field office that Zacarias Moussaoui, an Islamic jihadist, had been taking lessons on how to fly a 747. Tenet replied that he was briefed about the case on Aug. 23 or 24, 2001.
Roemer then asked Tenet if he mentioned Moussaoui to President Bush at one of their frequent morning briefings. Tenet replied, "I was not in briefings at this time." Bush, he noted, "was on vacation." He added that he didn't see the president at all in August 2001. During the entire month, Bush was at his ranch in Texas.
