Well, the vacation's over.
Barack Obama is back from his respite in Hawaii (That's the 56th state, right?).
He's sure had some fortunate timing, not having to discuss BlagoGate or the Middle East conflict de jour.
It's been nice not seeing him for a while. No press conference every day, complete with "President-Elect" podium props, saying the same rhetorical pap ad nauseam.
Of course, he's "deferred" to President Bush regarding the recent Israeli/Hamas conflict.
For a man who seems to have something to say about everything, his reluctance to give even a sound bite was a bit bizarre.
But, he's back. And I'm sure this time away from the spotlight was excruciating for a man who's main attribute seems to be narcissism.
Is it just me, or does it seem as though he's been around since the Carter years (which I am sure will resume in short order.)?
This man ran for President for four years, completing 2 memoirs.
You can complete a batchelor's degree in that time. That's how long the Mars rovers have been in operation. It takes four years for light to travel to the Earth from Alpha Centuri.
He hasn't even served in the Senate for four years.
I accept the nitwit won, but, sheesh, he's been more pervasive than those hideous "Snuggie" blanket commercials.
Can't wait for his first big stumble, or the first time he may annoy the press corp (if that's possible), so we can stop hearing the obligatory "oohs and ahhs" from the complicit media.
At least Bush didn't hold a press conference every day. The media just made him the enemy, and created their own "news".

Which is exactly what he should be doing. No need to tip his hand on what he may or may not do once he is sworn in. After all he has no official govt position until the 20th of Jan at noon. Who knows what may happen between now and then with which he can be beat over the head with if he makes a stance today.
Remember what happened to Vito in the Godfather when Sonny spoke up. "Never disagree with the family".

Come on, guys, give us a challenge. Instead you push what sound like bong-fueled conspiracy theories.
It's amazing the fantasies you'll propound regarding someone's real world experience.
John Kerry wasn't really a combat veteran and war hero. The NVA and VC knew he was going to protest the war when he got back. So they passed the word down the line along with his photo and the designation of his river boat and the orders - Protect this fellow traveler.
And his military superiors and subordinates were in on it to, or else bought off and intimidated. That's how he got those medals.
Barrack Obama's skids were greased from the gitgo. Despite his intellectual mediocrity, he got into Columbia and Harvard Law School. Then the word was passed down from the higher echelons of the Law School to all his professors, and his fellow students, "This is the liberal elite's choice for the first black President. Professors, grade his inadequate finals higher than they deserve. Fellow students, elect him president of the law review and then do all his work for him, because the poor dumb black guy can't do it for himself." And they all went along with this plot. Even if the professors were in on the plot, do you have any idea how ferociously competitive law school is, particularly Harvard? And of course there were no conservatives in the law school who might have protested. Nope, all bought off or suppressed.
And then after he graduates from HLS, he teaches constitutional law for twelve years at the University of Chicago Law School, a relatively conservative law school. None of the conservative professors speaks out and says "Where did they get this guy? He can't cut the mustard." Nope, all bought off or intimidated by the liberal elites who have groomed Barrack Obama to turn America red.
You're going to have to do better than that. He's the President Elect. Deal with it like adults. Democracy's a bitch, sometimes your guy loses. Be a patriotic American. Support the President when he's right and criticize him when he's wrong. But early onset of ODS, supported by whackjob conspiracy theories doesn't help anyone and makes you look like desperately sore losers.

You may be "doing something right," Shawn, but just what it is escapes poor dumb me.
What is the point of your post? That Obama's vacation is over? That he is a narcissist? That he hasn't said much about Gaza, instead deferring to the current C-in-C? That the press appears to like him, and that that gets on your nerves? That you'll be tickled as hell to see him screw up? Or do you just want to demonstrate that you can't spell "whose", "bachelor's", or "Alpha Centauri"?
Clear that up for me, and I'll accept your opinion that you are a deep political thinker and an insightful commentator par excellence.

Henry Bruce- I can answer a few of those questions for you. Yes, the vacation is over for that Narcissist-in-chief Obamalala.
The press doesn't "appear" to just like him, they are down on their knees with their mouths open waiting for Barry's pants to drop.
And your obsession with grammar and spelling is sad, this isn't the New York Times.

Bravo for at least giving him a chance. But think back IN GENERAL to the following:
Selected not elected
I am leaving the country if Bush is elected.
Shall I go on?
This was something that millions of liberals repeated before Bush ever took office and endlessly afterwards.
I know you speak for yourself but do you think other democrats did the same as you? Could Bush have done anything (other than maybe die) to win at least half of those over to support him?

I believe that Obama is President-Elect because he is black, call it an Affirmative Action program. I "believe" that surely if he was white, he would never have been able to beat out Hillary, Slow Joe, Richardson, or John "silky pony" Edwards (before the baby scandal).
Barry might be a smooth talker but a freshman junior Senator with 2 books about himself would have been laughed out of the race, if he wasn't black. Or half black.

"The fact that I have all the lib trolls here rabidly belching up their opinions on two words in one little post gives me all the more reason to think I'm doing something right."
No, not really, Shawn, but if it makes you feel good, who am I to deny you a cheap thrill.
If you were serious in your post, it was rightly criticized for being trivial. And your attempts to hide behind irony are disingenous.
If you were being ironic, you're in a bit better, but not much better, position. Being provocative without substance is an empty exercise. Anybody can do it. I call your Mom a crack whore and wait for you to get all worked up and then laugh at you. But the joke's on me.
What would be more worthwhile would be to write a post with substance. Whether it is also sarcastic or provocative is just fine.
And regarding liberal trolls. Ironically, some of your most dedicated posters are liberal (I am not referring to myself here). I'm not sure how that makes them trolls. Without the trolls you would be reduced to an endlessly echoing conservative lovefest. I would think you would find that boring. That's why I don't blog on a liberal blog.
I prefer to engage in a debate with someone who doesn't agree with me. If there is a little sarcasm and humor, that's great. But you know what? Calling someone an idiot, moron, kool-aid drinker or troll is a shoddy substitute for either substantive argument or clever sarcasm.

MESSAGE TO EVERY MEMBER OF CONGRESS:
When counting the electoral votes, either Congress finds by 1/8/09 that Obama, not being an Article II "natural born citizen", fails to qualify as President whereupon Biden becomes the full fledged President under 3 USC 19 (free to pick his own VP such as Hillary) or thereafter defers to the Supreme Court to enjoin Obama's inauguration with Biden becoming only Acting President under the 20th Amendment until a new President is duly determined.
The preferable choice, at least for the Democrats, should seem obvious.
