PortaPottyFest might be getting a wee bit pricey, says the AP

Well, looky here. The Associated Press has finally noticed how expensive the Obama inauguration has turned out to be: Obama Hosting Pricey Party In A Dicey Economy.

Naturally, though, they failed to reference any of their own editorializing reporting from four years ago in today's story, citing only the letter sent to President Bush by Democrats Anthony Weiner and Baghdad Jim McDermott asking him to scale back the massive rock concerts, merchandising um, whatever it was that made them grumpy.

And here is the spew-inducing quote of the day -- I'm warning you, swallow your coffee first:

Obama's inauguration committee says it is mindful of the times and is not worried people will see the four days of festivities as excessive.

"That is probably not the way the country is going to be looking at it," said committee spokeswoman Linda Douglass. "It is not a celebration of an election. It is a celebration of our common values." (emphasis added)

Any Bush Administration spokesperson making such a statement four years ago would have been cruelly mocked by every liberal on the planet. Linda Douglass deserves no less than fair treatment, as far as I am concerned. Actually though, I believe I'll file that quote away somewhere warm and safe. It'll come in handy the next time Republicans win a major election.

One more thing: the enormous amount of money raised for this event and for Obama's presidential campaign surely means the end of government matching funds for presidential elections. From now on, hanging the albatross of federal matching funds rulekeeping around one's neck will only be for losers. Hopefully Republicans have finally figured that one out.

(PS - Maybe I should have called it "PortaPottyPalooza." Much catchier, I think.)

The makers of Kleenex quadrupled their production of Kleenex to meet the needs of the 24hour a day whining, sniveling, crying, head exploding of the irrelevant, dingy right wing. No worries. The liberals probably won't even use the porta-potties. They will be jammed in so tight they will just go where they stand. Plus, they might miss something The Messiah says if they take a quick potty break. :)

Mr. Obama should get in as much partying as he can very early on. I have a feeling he's gonna have a lot more to worry about after Tuesday than who was supposed to bring the chips and dip.
