And no, it's not a joke. The former French President has been mauled by his poodle.
Former French President Jacques Chirac was rushed to a hospital after being mauled by his pet dog who is being treated for depression, in a dramatic incident that rattled the ex-president's wife. The couple's white Maltese poodle, called Sumo, has a history of frenzied fits and became increasingly prone to making "vicious, unprovoked attacks" despite receiving treatment with anti-depressants, Chirac's wife Bernadette said.
"If you only knew! I had a dramatic day yesterday," she told VSD magazine. "Sumo bit my husband!"
Mrs. Chirac, 74, did not reveal where the former president was bitten, but said, "the dog went for him for no apparent reason."
Somehow, it doesn't surprise me that a poodle was able to maul a former President of France.

Not much for joking about something like this, at least not knowing how serious the man's injuries are.
2 years ago, we had just rescued a Shepard/Greyhound mix. To make a long story short, about 8 months into it, he bit me in my face, tearing a huge chunk out of my forehead, and ripping off 25% of my upper lip.
100 stiches later from a plastic surgeon who I will only refer to as a miricle worker now, and you can't even tell.
One neat tidbit: My other dog, aside from lapping up the blood on the floor, decided to eat the missing piece of lip.
And yes, we still have the dog, and he is the sweetest animal alive.

My youngest brother was attacked by our neighbour's retarded cocker spaniel. It sunk its tooth into his eye socket above his eyeball and would not let go. Their pit bull ran upstairs from its room in the basement (thing had its own playroom full of mangled toys) and bit the spaniel's neck and chased it away. The spaniel was put down; the pit bull was rented out to impregnate some lucky lady pit bull. That is how you reward good behaviour.

Perhaps you are unaware that it's the "trolls" who make these comment pages interesting. Do you really think that you'd get 165 comments all saying, "me, too!", or do you acknowledge that someone has to be the contrarian?
The website I visit that led me here is visited daily by your little demi-god, Jay Tea. No one ever deletes his comments on that site, a decidedly left-leaning site.
I've noticed that whenever you remove a comment arbitrarily, your rationale is "Wizbang is not a democracy."
OK, then what is it? An echo chamber? A forum for people so cowardly they can't stand up to reasoned argument?
I'll bet you remove this. But, for the few minutes it remains in place, let it be known that, if you delete it, you are a coward. Your "writers" who appeal to you for protection against those meanie liberals are cowards. And Kevin is a coward. I double-dog dare you not to delete it. But you will, you coward.

This will sound crazy, but a guy I hunted with once had a poodle that was a birding fool. Not one of the miniatures, but a full-size, pure bred poodle. It was a better bird dog than half the black labs I saw in the field that day.
We busted his balls when that thing jumped out of the kennel but it more that held its own in the field.
I'd wager getting mauled by a full-size poodle (~20 inches at the shoulders and ~65 pounds) is about the same as being mauled by a doberman. I've got no love for Chirac but not all poodles are sissy lap dogs.
