Color me unsurprised. Of all the balls Obama attended for his HISTORIC inauguration, he didn't feel it necessary to attend the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball, a ball started by President Eisenhower, attended by Presidents for 14 straight inaugurations. 56 years later, Obama broke that tradition because apparently mingling with all the celebrities was more important than greeting, say, the 48 Medal of Honor recipients at the Salute to Heroes ball. Yep, 48. Every other President since the ball was started was able to find time on Inauguration Day to go, but not Obama.
Yeah, this guy loves the troops all right. Real respect for our military there. But hey, he did run on a platform of change, after all, and that sure is a change. For the first time in American history, we have a Commander-in-Chief who can't even fake respect for our heroes who have fought, sacrificed, and died for their country.
Oh, and remember -- don't you ever, ever question his patriotism or his respect for the troops. Not ever.

What a great idea for a ball. 48 CMH winners? Wow.
We've got one right here in my area. Sgt Vernon Jordan, black E-6 who won his in Italy. He's in the large annual parade every year and never fails to get a roaring standing O.
A shame Obama couldn't make it a priority to pay tribute to these folks.

By all accounts I've read he and Michael returned to the WH and called it an evening about a hour earlier than was planned.
Part of the hour could have been spent at the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball.
Not that I really care, all the pomp and circumstance is a total waste of cash and energy in my book and it matters little to me who's being placed in the WH.

All BHO had to do was attend an event for MEN of HONOR, Bravery. Do you know what it takes to be award The MOH?
The music and sport stars who called called heros are not in the same galaxy. If BHO was a real man, he would pass all of those to thank these men for what they did.

CODEKEYGUY- you are incorrect. The CinC ball is not all about the CinC. It was a new ball that was planned to honor those serving or who have served in Iraq or Afganistan. Despite the name, this was to honor the troops. On top of that, I've heard at least three generals say how they feel Obama has done everything right towards the military since he was Inaugurated, unlike Clinton in 1992.
It's amazing to me that Obama can use Veterans affairs as a key campaign issue, actually vote for increasing benefits to those who have served. Yet McCain votes to decrease them. Yet Obama is the one who hates the troops.
Oh and the official definition of the CinC ball:
"The newest presidential inaugural ball is the Commander-in-Chief Ball. It's for military personnel who have served, or are about to serve, in Iraq and Afghanistan. We follow one couple as they prepare to attend."
