Obama can't be bothered to visit with the military... again.

Color me unsurprised. Of all the balls Obama attended for his HISTORIC inauguration, he didn't feel it necessary to attend the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball, a ball started by President Eisenhower, attended by Presidents for 14 straight inaugurations. 56 years later, Obama broke that tradition because apparently mingling with all the celebrities was more important than greeting, say, the 48 Medal of Honor recipients at the Salute to Heroes ball. Yep, 48. Every other President since the ball was started was able to find time on Inauguration Day to go, but not Obama.

Yeah, this guy loves the troops all right. Real respect for our military there. But hey, he did run on a platform of change, after all, and that sure is a change. For the first time in American history, we have a Commander-in-Chief who can't even fake respect for our heroes who have fought, sacrificed, and died for their country.

Oh, and remember -- don't you ever, ever question his patriotism or his respect for the troops. Not ever.

What a great idea for a ball. 48 CMH winners? Wow.

We've got one right here in my area. Sgt Vernon Jordan, black E-6 who won his in Italy. He's in the large annual parade every year and never fails to get a roaring standing O.

A shame Obama couldn't make it a priority to pay tribute to these folks.

So, Hyperbolist, you think going to one means he can skip the other and have no one notice? Why couldn't he have made an appearance at both? He made time for the balls attended by the celebrities.

Assuming hyper was deleted for being his normal asshatted self, and also presuming he noted B. Hussein Obama attended the Commander-in-Chief's ball... and so?

By all accounts I've read he and Michael returned to the WH and called it an evening about a hour earlier than was planned.

Part of the hour could have been spent at the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball.

Not that I really care, all the pomp and circumstance is a total waste of cash and energy in my book and it matters little to me who's being placed in the WH.

Quite honestly, this is very sad. I'd have to think these guys were excited to meet the President only to be extremely disappointed. That's a once-in-a-lifetime deal in spite of one's political beliefs.

I did not vote for him, but I was willing to support him. the "salute the uniform, not the man" idea that the position of POTUS deserves respect. HOWEVER, I am also a Vet, and I have the utmost respect for MoH winners. Anyone, including the OBAMINATION, who disrespects them ISN'T WORTH THE TIME TO EVEN CASTIGATE HIM FOR HIS DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOR.
I have NO RESPECT WHATSOEVER for this person. Please not that I did NOT call him a man, as he isn't one in my eyes.
I am really sorry for this rant, but I will not retract it, and if it gets me banned, so be it.Dennis P. Skea

He went to a ball in honour of the troops, but apparently not the one Cassy wanted him to go to.

Delete this comment too, I don't give a sh*t. Finding some meaningful statistic about how the military feels disrespected by Obama might give some credence to this post, but as such it's a laughable screed based on nothing.

Some folks just don't understand the meaning of this ball. The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration awarded by the U.S. Government. Not to mention the fact that Cassy already covered that every President in the last half century made it a point to go to this one.

Once again, I think it's very sad that the MoH winners couldn't meet the President, something they may not ever get to do again.

I have stated many times throughout my years at Wizbang that the left hates the military. They will use them for a political prop, but down deep, they wish they did not exist.

I am sure work spread throughout the ranks of our military here and abroad that the new commander and chief doesn't have time for them.

Obama is such an ass hat. What a failure. He can't recite the oath, he can't support the troops by going to their party, he can't keep his promise of no lobbyists in his administration and HE CLOSES GITMO WITHOUT A PLAN ON WHERE TO PUT THE TERRORISTS.

He sold my safety and my families for political points. ww

Dr. Lava,
The CinC ball that the OBAMINATION attended was an ego trip for him. The Salute to Heroes ball that he didn't attend was to show respect for the Medal of Honor winners and the wounded veterans. He needed an ego boost, but couldn't bother to show any respect for the HEROES. He is in my eyes total a**hole, and I will treat him with the same respect that the left treated Bush.

He got too tired from dancing? What a jerk.

So President Bush attended the Ball. he visits the troops in combat zones. he fights congress when everyone said he was Lame Duck to fund the troops and keep their mission alive. He visits the troops when no one knows and talks with the mothers of the fallen.

All BHO had to do was attend an event for MEN of HONOR, Bravery. Do you know what it takes to be award The MOH?

The music and sport stars who called called heros are not in the same galaxy. If BHO was a real man, he would pass all of those to thank these men for what they did.
These AMERICAN Soldier, Sailors, Marines and Air Men are true national treasures and they Demand respect from the CinC who has the responsibility to send men into harms way.

justin:

CODEKEYGUY- you are incorrect. The CinC ball is not all about the CinC. It was a new ball that was planned to honor those serving or who have served in Iraq or Afganistan. Despite the name, this was to honor the troops. On top of that, I've heard at least three generals say how they feel Obama has done everything right towards the military since he was Inaugurated, unlike Clinton in 1992.

It's amazing to me that Obama can use Veterans affairs as a key campaign issue, actually vote for increasing benefits to those who have served. Yet McCain votes to decrease them. Yet Obama is the one who hates the troops.

Oh and the official definition of the CinC ball:
"The newest presidential inaugural ball is the Commander-in-Chief Ball. It's for military personnel who have served, or are about to serve, in Iraq and Afghanistan. We follow one couple as they prepare to attend."

Thank God in heaven that George Washington, FDR and Lincoln (the man Obama tries to emulate) did not possess what groucho and maybe a few hundred other Americans term "respect and concern".

Logically his point is indefensible: According to him U.S. forces can never be put in harms way, because to do so would be disrespectful and uncaring.

What he did was wrong. He broke a 56 year, 14 president tradition. These Medal of Honor recipients are the best of the best, the cream of the crop. Soldiers who made sacrifices that most of you whiny people can only imagine.
Entertainment celebrities were more important than our nations heroes. I will never forget what he has done to 48 soldiers who waited for his appearance and then a no show. Biden's token appearance was not the same and in manys eyes were an insult.
