The Knuckleheads of the Day award

Today's winner is the Korea Times and cartoonist Stephane Peray. They get the award for the following political cartoon.

bushfire.jpg

GI at ROK Drop does an excellent job of summing up why this is a Knucklehead winner-

The cartoonist is making fun of the bushfires in the Australian state of Victoria by trying to blame them on global warming. Global warming is not what started the bushfires because most of the fires were started by arsonists on the hottest day of the year in Victoria. The fires were started near towns which caused many people to die in their cars as they had no time to escape which is what this cartoonist is making fun of.

This cartoonist is not the only one that has been pushing this global warming nonsense as Greenies in Australia have been saying the same thing to include Australian Greens Parliament Member Bob Brown. These people are disgusting and revolting and should be ashamed on themselves.

It is disgusting ,revolting, in horrible bad taste and after an uproar, the Korea Times pulled cartoon. Its too late so far as I am concerned, I name the Korea Times and Stephane Peray today's Knuckleheads of the Day.

Note- If you go to the hyperlink for Peray, you'll see it is he who takes credit for the cartoon.

A good illustration of what the wacko greenies want. It's a good thing that people die and the planet survives. Unless of course, they die along with the rest of us.

Have you ever thought that it was Global Warming that caused these people to start these fires? Think about it. When you are hot you don't act rational, arson probably seemed like the right thing to do for these people, they are just victims of Bu$h's military industrial complex.
We all have to be aware of the insidiouse effects of Global Warming on our higher brain function. Don't believe me, just ask Al Gore; Global Warming has been interfering with his higher brain function for years. (Snark)

Now see I thought that the point of the cartoon was that while people and buildings were being burnt up in the terrible conflagration the only thing the fireman was concerned about was the state of the koala bears.
I thought it was a statement mocking how environmentalists were only concerned with "nature" and not human beings.

Bill,

Your article is very misleading. Dry hot weather causes fires to spread faster. People died because the fire spread so fast that people did not have time to get away. Although global warming can not be attributed to starting the fires set by arsonist, global warming did contribute to the speed at which the fire spread.

Psst -- the northern half of Australia is having colder than normal weather this year. But I guess if you're a Green, you only focus on the half of the continent that's having warmer weather than normal.

Then there's the Sheahans of Reedy Creek, north of the Kinglake area in Victoria. They were fined $50,000 (and had another $50,000 in legal fees) for clearing away 250 trees around their house back in 2002. Can you guess which house is the only one still standing in the area?

And then there's the quote of the day: "We've lost two people in my family because you d**kheads won't cut trees down," -- Warwick Spooner told the mayor of Nillumbik at a meeting on Tuesday night.

Victoria got hit with its first major heat wave when the fires hit this year. The heat wave is probably what encouraged the arsonists to come out and light fires after a wetter then normal summer. As LenS stated there is more of a rationale of poor forest management that caused the fires to spread then global warming.

The Greenies in Australia have outlawed cattle grazing in the high country in recent years that had been going on for generations. They also have outlawed backburning in the National Parks which is something that had been going on for tens of thousands of years by the Aborigines who understood the relationship between fire and the bush.

Global warming can not be measured based on one half of the globe.

Nor can global warming be measure by a single season. It is measured by recording the temperature over many years.

Very true. But the global warming advocates aren't doing that. They've been cherry picking numbers that are favorable to their pet belief and ignoring the rest. Worse, Al Gore's pet at NASA has been caught faking data to back up the cause.
