Terry Moran's Explanation Why Obama's First Month is Being Panned

This is the most obnoxious display of Obama worship I think I have ever seen from anyone in the media to date. From Newsbusters:

"Nightline" co-anchor Terry Moran gave an interview on Friday to the Media Bistro's "Morning Media Menu" podcast and compared Barack Obama to George Washington. Talking to host and editor Steve Krakauer, Moran gushed, "I like to say that, in some ways, Barack Obama is the first President since George Washington to be taking a step down into the Oval Office." (For those who have forgotten, George Washington defeated the strongest military power in the world. Barack Obama was a community organizer.) [Full interview audio available here.]

Moran continued, "I mean, from visionary leader of a giant movement, now he's got an executive position that he has to perform in, in a way." [MP3 audio of just this answer, 26 seconds]

The comparison of Barack Obama and George Washington is an insult to Washington, who was a humble man. More from David Boaz at The Cato Institute:

George Washington was the man who established the American republic. He led the revolutionary army against the British Empire, he served as the first president, and most importantly he stepped down from power.

In an era of brilliant men, Washington was not the deepest thinker. He never wrote a book or even a long essay, unlike George Mason, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Adams. But Washington made the ideas of the American founding real. He incarnated liberal and republican ideas in his own person, and he gave them effect through the Revolution, the Constitution, his successful presidency, and his departure from office...

Give the last word to Washington's great adversary, King George III. The king asked his American painter, Benjamin West, what Washington would do after winning independence. West replied, "They say he will return to his farm."

"If he does that," the incredulous monarch said, "he will be the greatest man in the world."

Barack Obama is no George Washington and Terry Moran's attempt to compare the two men only makes him look ridiculous.

Kim,
They (MSM) have no other choice. They MADE him. He's theirs. ALL of their credibility is wrapped up in his success. He wins, they win. Over the next 4 years, you're going to see the most SELF-CENSORING press ever. Because (in their mind) if they don't report it, it didn't happen.

As todays "students" have virtually no idea of the true genius and greatness of Washington, clowns like Moran can get away with such ludicrous statements. What a disgrace.

Brian:

Honestly, it's no surprise that the current President is being compared to great leaders of the past. It is the pattern of liberals to value image over action.

Take JFK. You ask any liberal and they're tell you that he was one of the greatest Presidents in our nation. However, if you do any investigation of JFK, you'd almost come up with the opposite conclusion. JFK's accomplishments are minimal and his mistakes were large. He lowered taxes and started NASA. He failed in Cuba and he barely did anything for civil rights.

So, I'm not surprised that Barrack Obama is called a visionary leader of a giant movement when, in reality, he's a typical democrat.

Let's see, during Carter, it was the worse economy since the great depression, during 1982, same, during 9/11 same, and now that the democrats have had leadership in congress for the third year, they imploded the economy and Paul predictably says it's the worst economy since the great depression. It is almost like the left likes bad news and love it even more to make it worse.

Roosevelt, if anyone studies history, did not create any programs that expanded or repaired the economy. Fortunately, we went to war. That repaired the economy. Until Johnson decided to give money away and start a war at the same time. Wait! Barry is doing the same thing. So, Barry is like Johnson. ww

Good Lord! Comparing Obama to Washington? What, are they done insulting Lincoln with an Obama comparison?

Washington led the nation to independence and set the standard by which every other president is judged. Obama is NOTHING like Washington, or Lincoln, or the other great presidents. He's more in Carter's league, and that obviously ain't a good thing.
