Drudge has some of the comments Dick Cheney made in an interview to be aired on Sean Hannity's Fox News show that pertain to Obama's releasing of the memos that listed what tough interrogation techniques the CIA used against terrorists. Cheney formally asked the Obama administration also declassify the memos that showed how successful those techniques were:
"One of the things that I find a little bit disturbing about this recent disclosure is they put out the legal memos, the memos that the CIA got from the Office of Legal Counsel, but they didn't put out the memos that showed the success of the effort. And there are reports that show specifically what we gained as a result of this activity. They have not been declassified.""I formally asked that they be declassified now. I haven't announced this up until now, I haven't talked about it, but I know specifically of reports that I read, that I saw that lay out what we learned through the interrogation process and what the consequences were for the country."
"And I've now formally asked the CIA to take steps to declassify those memos so we can lay them out there and the American people have a chance to see what we obtained and what we learned and how good the intelligence was, as well as to see this debate over the legal opinions."
Former vice president Dick Cheney's two part interview with Sean Hannity begins tonight at 9:00pm on the Fox News Channel.

Yes, his approval rating was lower than Bush's, but almost every American hated him? "Forty-four percent of Americans now view Cheney unfavorably, while 42 percent are undecided or haven't heard enough." And that was a CBS News/New York Times poll.

Right. You first impart to us how Cheney leaves office with an approval rating lower than Bush and then you ridicule him for not running for President. And yeesh, your definition of a landslide is weak. This is a landslide.

I hope that the memos that Cheney is advocating the release for do see the light of day - but it won't happen if the Obama Administration has anything to say about it. For the last eight years we have heard that the Bush Administration was "politicizing intelligence information" and now when we see the worst example of this occurring the liberals are totally silent - or silently praying to the liberal god Obamalala or whatever it is they believe in that the truth won't come out that enhanced interrogation techniques actually work. There is no overriding national security claim they can make to withhold these memos but I guarantee you they will not be released unless a lawsuit is filed and a court orders them to be released - or they somehow get leaked. That is assuming they aren't being shredded as we speak...
Open and transparent government only applies to the Obama Administration when being open and transparent is convenient for them. Unless we see these memos we cannot have an open and honest debate about this issue which is precisely why we saw this selective release. Open and honest debates are not something they are in favor of because they know that what will be revealed will not be helpful to their argument.

One thing I wanted to add was does it not strike people as odd that Obama continues to order Predator strikes inside sovereign nations like Pakistan where inevitably these strikes kill not only terrorists but regrettably innocent women and children yet the liberals are silent about all this? Now don't get me wrong: I support these actions because I realize we are at war with these people and it is a simple concept that we need to get them before they get us. But at the same time, liberals are wringing their hands about a handful of terrorist detainees who have been roughed up to extract vital intelligence information. The people on the other end of the missile strike were not served with a search warrant or given due process before they got vaporized so why no outrage from the liberals who are interested in the rule of law or at least claim they are? This hair-splitting of what is okay with them and what is not is pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
The bottom line is this: enhanced interrogation techniques work. The common misconception people have about torture is that a person being tortured will confess to anything. Now I personally don't believe that waterboarding fits the definition of torture if only because our special forces personnel and pilots undergo the same training as part of their SEAR training. Nevertheless, they are not doing these things to them to get them to confess to a crime. They do it to get information and they do it by first asking questions they already know the answers to. Then they go on to other questions and information they receive as a result is checking and corroborating this information with other sources. And the facts are we have gotten actionable intelligence information from the small handful of people who were waterboarded that helped prevent future attacks.
The thing that drives me crazy about liberals is they always have the right ideas about what we should not be doing yet they don't suggest anything that will help get the same kind of results that we have gotten by doing the things they find so objectionable. I have sad news for all these people: giving a terrorist detainee a halal meal, a Koran and a prayer rug is not going to get us any valuable information...
