Michelle Malkin, who has done a lot of investigative legwork in order to expose the crooked connection between ACORN, Project Vote, and the Obama Campaign/Administration, has just published a number of emails between ACORN whistle-blower Anita MonCrief and New York Times reporter Stephanie Strom. Strom was working on an investigation of MonCrief's claims last fall, when the Times allegedly spiked her story.
Short version: Strom was forced to end her investigation of ACORN due to "unpleasant calls with the Obama campaign, wherein the spokesman was screaming and yelling and cursing me, calling me a rightwing nut and a conspiracy theorist and everything else" and pressure from her higher-ups at the Times. But she concluded her last email, "One of these days, the truth is going to come out." It finally has, but it will probably take something short of a miracle for the story to ever circulate widely outside the conservative blogosphere.
And over at HotAir, Doug Ross has excerpts from a 2004 ACORN internal memo that explicitly outlines organizational goals, including support for "Progressives in general, and Democratic candidates in particular" in order to enable Congressional districts to be gerrymandered in such a way that would eliminate the possibility of "right wing control" of the US House of Representatives after 2012. All this, from a group organized as "a non-profit, non-partisan social justice organization with national headquarters in New York, New Orleans and Washington, D.C.", and with sub-groups like the ACORN Institute organized as 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations.
...
During the 1990's conservatives spent a lot of time investigating the various shady dealings of Bill and Hillary Clinton, specifically their connection to professional shysters like Norman Hsu and Charlie Trie. But I must confess that now, in light of the Obama organization's massive connections to ACORN, the SEIU, the UAW, and God only knows who else, our previous obsession with Bill Clinton's secret conspiracy web now seems petty and trivial.
The level of cronyism surrounding the Obama organization (and I really must call it that, since it has long since ceased to simply be an "administration") is deeper and more menacing than anything I have ever witnessed in contemporary politics -- ACORN (which has now been tapped to conduct 2010 Census surveys of key inner-city neighborhoods) is tied to the SEIU through its founder, Wade Rathke, who organized SEIU Local 100 in New Orleans. Obama "Car Czar" Steven Rattner's wife, Maureen White, is the former National Finance Chair of Democratic Party, and Rattner's committee chose the dealerships that Chrysler will be forced to cut loose -- dealerships whose commonality is not poor sales or excessive overhead costs, but seems to be the simple fact that their owners were supporters of the Republican party.
Change. We've certainly seen a lot of it lately, but is replacing one good ol' boy system ("evil" rich white Republican bankers, businessmen, etc.) with the Obama organization, which has already proven to be criminally-inclined and corrupt, really any kind of improvement? And President Obama says "You ain't seen nothing yet." God help us all.

"when the Times allegedly spiked her story"
It's no longer "allegedly", the Times' public editor (ombudsman) admitted it. TimesWatch has the details.

as Glenn Beck pointed out, this really SHOULD be "the story that propels the next Woodward and Bernstein"
so why isn't it?
because the "Woodwards & Bernsteins" of today are so blinded by their ideaology they REFUSE to follow ANY story that might embarrass The One...or wind up being "politically incorrect". This would clearly be both!

Nixon was a Republican. The mainstream media has Always been Liberal. They're just more subjective in their reporting now. Ted Kennedy was involved in a car wreck that resulted in a woman being killed and then he tried to cover it up! If he had been a Republican, he'd have gone to prison. Since he's a democrat, he's a Senator!
By the way, Obama was ACORN's Lawyer, they're just paying his fee.

Now you understand the necessity of a 2nd Amendment? The right to keep and bear arms has very little to do with home protection and hunting. A lot more to do with the people retaining the power in a nation that has evolved a government that seems bent on dominating its citizens.
